the only item with a higher max dmg in the 40-49 bracket is kang the decapitator (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=2291) which costs 150-200g on a typical server. Definately worth a few trips to ulda to gear your twink or to just have for lvling.

This weapon just SCREAMS mortal strike warrior for high burst damage, especially in the battlegrounds. Stoneslayer procs fairly often, however it doesn't seem like it considering how slow its swung. This isn't a weapon used for it's proc honestly, its used for it's high burst damage output, definitely great for the battlegrounds.

I don't know about screams, perhaps talks loudly about MS warrs. In truth, this weapon is a ret paladin's dream (v slow = higher chance of SoC proccing) and any pally who plans on levelling with SoC should think seriously about getting this, even if the drop rate is terrible.

Can drop speed down to 3.30 area with a counterweight which is attached by blacksmith perm.

The change in 2.3 shaved four levels off this weapon, making it an even more amazing Sword for level 40-49... easily one of the most powerful in the bracket for Mortal Strike/Sword spec due to its slow speed, high topend, and decent (+ frequent) proc. Combined with Crusader, this sword makes the 40's an absolute breeze.

Although acquiring the sword can be somewhat taxing, as Uldaman is not a very popular zone, farming it is a pain due to requiring 3 people to get to Archaedas (complicating twink runs), and its his rarest drop to boot. 16 runs yielded 1 Stoneslayer, 2 Rockpounder, and 13 various combinations of the ring.

imagine a 3.9s weapon hit twice on one guy.

its gotta hurt hell lot.

5% extra crit VS 5% extra swing which has a chance to crit.

i'd take 5% extra swing.

Obviosly this proc is only buffing two swings with this speed, but how noticeable is the proc? If you were quick and pay attention, you could probably use a macro to switch to two quick 1h weapons for some pretty good damage.

This thing rules for a slam where you do weapon dmg + bonus, and takes only 1 sec to cast (improved with talentpoints) and ignores the speed of the weapon !

also great with Mortal Strike, Cleave, Whirlwind, Overpower, Heroic Strike...

many warrior abilities are based on weapon damage... and i'm having troubles finding a weapon with better damage than this one... there are lots with better dps, but for a warrior this is better...

also getting criticals with this one nice...

also got it on my 1st run to Uldaman but it's not such a common drop... i was just lucky...

i would love to have the Rockpounder also...

I just accidentatly bought a Warmonger from the AH when i already had the Stoneslayer AND the Rockpounder, both of the Ulda drops. My stoneslayer already has a firey enchant on it, and i am a level 48 warrior, what should i use?

Got this sword the other day. Dosn't look too nice, but it will sure F*^*'em up. A good replacement for WhirlWind.

Should i use this, or whirlwind sword with +7 damage chant? Tough decision, since whirlwind has really good stats.

I am a troll 49 hunter with this lifestealer on this sword. Before all you warriors start something, there was only 1 other warrior in the instance group. He was a lvl 60 so he let me have it. Well, this sword has very high dmg but it is also very slow. In PVP, most good hunter only use instant melee attacks such as raptor strike mixed in with wing clip. Only a stupid hunter would stay and actually try to melee a warrior or pally. I freequently top the list in bg's and i've only seen 2 other weapons with higher dmg. Kang and a polearm. I'm talking dmg now, not dps. Us pvp hunter love high dmg, slow 2h weapons. This sword has served me faithfully through 13K honor and counting. Great sword!

I just got this weapon on my first run through Ulda, and I can't use it yet, but I can't wait.

Sounds fun and I might actually have a chance against my friend who has always been a higher level than me by only a couple. Then again, he is a warlock....

P.S.-I'm going to have to agree on the bit about hunters-they're so cheap with concussion shot and pets that resist everything, it's like fighting two people, one you can't catch and the other you can't affect....

I'm ret pally and I need rolled on this weapon, as did the warrior, and everyone said it's ok. Seal of Command needs a slow weapon too. So does Crusader Strike, and I bet some people still has this sword when they ding 50 and get the 41 pts talent (CS). Paladins, warriors, you are both perfectly allowed to roll for this sword. And I think it rocks, got it earlier today ^^

allthough this sword is nice, i like truesilver champion betterish, kk, im in battle and i take 100 damage,my sheild proccs,then my crusader chant heals me for 100-ish.then mayb my truesilver breastplate heals me for another 100, then i get shielded again. ive actually watched a fight where true. champ. has sheilded me for the entire fight. so 2 the one who said this is better than the tsc is nuts.

I love this weapon. With my Ret Pally my Seal of Command just owns. Slow weapons mean high dps for classes that rely on procs. I can do about 200-300 dmg, and I can crit for about 700. For a warrior or a pally this is a sweet weapon.

42 dwarf hunter
42 human prot pally(tank)
40 ret pally (me)
39 holy pally(heals)
41 night elf hunter
This sword drops, so I tell the group that I need it, but the night elf hunter wants it too. After I explain to him how weapons with no stats and a proc are absolutely USELESS to a hunter, he rolls a need anyway, saying he can have whatever weapon he pleased. He won. Please, do not group with this hunter, Analakura on Aerie Peak server. I am not one to bash on other players, but I feel it is neccesary to warn the population of a ninja when I find one.

Was doing the power stones quest last week by myself so I was sticking to the guys outside of the mine and doing alright. Well 2 guys needed a 3rd to help inside the instance so I joined their group and ended up winning the roll for this sword. I was level 42 at the time and am currently a newly leveled 49 and this sword still kicks ass. I had the +7 weapon damage enchant put on it and it looks cool with the slight glow but it just gets the job done too. Sure, it's not the fanciest looking sword but I like the simple look. I keep looking in AH for a weapon to upgrade to at some point but haven't found anything that fits an arms/fury warrior any better yet.

Got this Bad boy yesterday- warrior rolled a 5 other pally rolled a 15 and i pulled on top with a 73 :-D despite what u say for speed, if youre not tanking in a higher level instance (im 41) then this sword is great

I read u guys said that this weapon is terrible for a paladin.. No, it is not - I use it on mine.

Seal of Command procs by speed, if u use such as a sword with a 2.50 speed, it procs about every fourth hit or so, with this it procs nearly every hit! And talk about that damage! The proc isnt very rare either, and the extradamage shows. :)

I put a fiery on mine and now I am going back to uldaman to test my damage/loot :)

the speed doesnt matter. if you are an MS warrior this is the BEST weapon for you and you can easily use it past lvl 50 if you chose. the rule is the same as rogues who want lower speed daggers for ambush and backstab, lowerspeed means more dmg for the instant attacks. what instant attacks does a warrior have you might ask? besides MS there are abilities like overpower and retaliation that are all instant. add talents like improved overpower, 2hand and sword spec, sweeping strikes(which you already have if you have MS) and you'll have no trouble being a great tank even in Battle Stance without the use of taunt. another good talent is deep wounds(which does wpn dmg over time when you crit)

for an MS warrior top damage means everything. since slow weapons have high top damage, means this is the best weapon a warrior could get for his lv. if you dont agree then your an idiot

Paladin w/SoC + Stonecutter is PAIN for anything on the receiving end!Drop rate sucks and then some,but if your one of the lucky FEW,then it was worth it.

Useless?

It has the highest end dmg of any 2hdr that level which is useFUL for instant attacks us warriors have. Also weapon speed is determined in attack power for instant attacks, slower weapon = more attack power. Ths is the best non axe MS warrior weapon for its level. The rockpounder may rival it with its crit stat.

The conventional cookie cutter wisdom dictates slower weapons are always better. This is somewhat true but it doesn't take into account the other part of DPS: regular hits. Your regular hits with this will be rather poopish because of how slow they are. The actual DPS in the end balances out because you're doing less regular strikes due to the low speed and even though a faster weapon wouldn't hit for as much with MS or WW, it would have more DPS done from regular attacks. You also generate far less rage with slower weapons than with a faster weapon, which further impedes regular DPS. Note that 'regular DPS' in this context refers to all damage not done by instant abilities such as WW or MS.

If you want PvP burst damage, stick with arms. Otherwise fury is usually the king for PvE damage. This isn't a bad weapon but it really isn't that great either. IMO Nightblade is a better weapon, especially for a fury build.

So in short, fast and slow 2H weapons both have their benefits.

slow: Good for instant damage like MS, WW ; benefit more from flurry
fast: more sustained regular DPS, much faster rage generation

Not too bad. Depends on how you intend to fight. If you're 2H, you're probably not really tanking, which makes this great for a Fury war. Giant chunks of damage every 4 seconds, especially with crits and executes when needed.

However, what makes it bad isn't the speed/lack thereof, but rather the lack of stats. Compare this to something like Grimlok's Charge, with a bunch of Agi, Str and Sta, the stuff a warrior needs most. Your crit chance will be lower, and your health will be lower if you use this instead.
