I have one of these on my ice mage and simply love it. The Frost damage increase is obviously nice, but the proc is simply amazing. If specced deep into the ice tree you have, especially with this ring, a good chance of freezing most enemies without the intent to. Also worth noting is if your deeply ice specced and you have the shatter talent, this is just one more chance to deal some high crits in a short period of time. If you're an avid PvPer, or you get hit easily in PvE, I highly suggest picking one of these up if you see a good deal

i still think having two of those on a 49 twink Frost mage is better than a Fire mage twink with eye of flame on the same lvl.
the ZF staff goes great with mages on all specc

When Freezing Band's "freezing" stat procs, the one that hit you is entrapped in a Iceblock or Freezing Trap Animation. You can still deal damage and keep him in that state, it does not break with damage like Frostbite or Frost nova. So when it procs, its basically an automatic win.

Just got this on my frost mage. It is an amazing piece for frost mages, the extra damage is very noticable. Got mine for 60g, pretty good price. If you have 5 points in Shatter and 5 in Ice Shards, get ready for some nice crits, as the freeze effect isnt broken becuase of damage, so shatter all the hordies you want!

I've got this ring equipped on my lvl 49 PvP warrior (Andarand@Khadgar). Although warriors don't have any use for +21 dmg, the +10 frost resistance is very useful against frost mages (increasing any resistance is quite tough job at lvl 49) and the proc rocks against rogues. Needless to say rogues who try to ambush me are very surprised when this procs ;-)

Can you still equip two? Some other unique rings I know you can only equip one, and attempting to equip the second will just replace the first one with it, wasting it.

Do weapon enchants, such as Icy Chill, fall under the category of 'effects' for the effect of 'Increases damage done by Frost spells and effects by up to 21?' If so I better get mine off of the AH soon because I want to put Icy Chill on my blade.

If you've got two rings, does that mean a 2% chance to freeze? Add that to the 10% frostbite proc on ice armor and you've increased your chance of rooting your opponent by 20%....

Frost mages with Ice Armor and the Frostbite talent get a 15% chance to freeze anything that hits them. With a pair of rings on thats 17% to root them for 5 secs.

Thats more than once out of every six times you get hit.

im looking at buyng this ring and i have a question about its proc. it says that it does 50 damage, now if you are equiped with part of frozen wrath gear that give a + to frost spell damage (this is not an up to damage, all the damage is applied regardless of the length of spell) does it increase the damage of this proc?

Felt like running SY since it's a fun instance, and this dropped off of the first troll boss, not sure what his name was...I was the only one who could actually make some use out of it, so it went to me...

Funny that ST seems to get a lot of world epic drops. i've seen three epics drop in that instance so far, and my friend has seen a lot of epic drops as well.

Went on a trip to Searing Gorge with my lvl 60 mage to get more Thorium Brotherhood reputation. A lvl 40 (yes 40) Troll Rogue tried to Ambush me but got immidiantly frozen in a solid block of ice with this ring. Funny to watch, bet he was thinking it was some ice-mage spell ^^

As a frost mage, I wear 2 of these - the freeze is a great surprise when it happens (Shatter ftw!). It seems to proc quite often in PvP, but that's probably because I get hit a lot :D

LMAO, 2days ago at 12:00Am, pacific time, the freezing band was at 78s bid, 105g buyout. So as greedy as i am, i bid it for 78s, went 2 sleep and woke up at 6:00am, to see wat was up.bid was up at2g, 10hrs later it was up to 20, so i bid 35g, no 1 had bid it and i had won freezing band for 35g bid :P.

This band is worth so much to mages because of rogues and any other duel wielders because if they are hitting 2 times ever second (i'm a 70 mage ice and it pisses me off to never even get a ice lance off)these things own because it will proc they're frozen and if you got 2 mobs it even gives you time to sheep 1! this band is still disirable because it has an effect not just spell damage this should go for 500 at LEAST. have you ever seen a Vurtne vid? he has this ring in both sockets because of it. that is why they rock for mages

ok time to clear some things up

i have one of these on my 70 mage...

it has procced maybe 10-20 times in the week ive had it, during BG's (quite a lot for the little i play)..

IT WORKS AGAINST lvl70's FINE

IT WORKS IN ARENA

i was in 2v2 and it froze a warrior , then when he came out and hit me it procced a second time!

the damage it does is insignificant so i dont beleive +frost or +spell makes any difference to the initial damage of 50.

IT LASTS FOR 5 SECS

you can damage them and it wont break (provided by the fact it isnt dispelled or trinketed)

i havent tested whether it makes your frostbite +crit talent proc, though i am somewhat thinking it doesnt work (5 secs of free critting icelances...nerf!) netherless

IT PROCS ON MELEE ATTACKS ONLY

as far as i have tested it has procced on mostly rogues/warriors it has also procced off a hunters pet and voidwalker! tbh most classes i have fought are spellcasters.. and it hasnt procced once, this is a crying shame because that is where it would shine!

IT PROCS WHENEVER THEY HIT YOU< IN ICE BARRIER / MANA SHEILD >

ofc it does not proc in ice block as you are immune to the melee hits that would proc it.

basically , a loss of stats to use this, but the proc is awesome and can win you your fight. i keep a finger slot (not even a trinket! woo!) open for this at all times in arena and battlegrounds

going for 70-100g on my server thunderhorn and worth it 100% if you ever need your enemies frozen , no matter what class you are.

This thing is awesome.

My ticket to defeat warriors, rogues and feral druids on my elemental shaman :)

Adds some tiny pts of damage to my frost shock, not that much, but its okay.

If it procs, i get high range. Actually, enough time to skip or hop back, use my 150 spell damage trinket together with some 100% crit buff and totem, *wham* 35% of my opponent's health gone.

Just bought two from AH 100g buyout each.

Has already saved my life a couple of times; seems to only take effect when my health is at or below 20%.

Definitely worth the money for the bonus frost damage, works really well for me (frost mage).

love this ring, my very first epic drop that i won :) from a highbourne in EPL, dont you just love it when something decides to knock you off your mount and gives you a nice little gift. sold for 250g straight away :D wish i kept for my mage now though :(

Dropped off a Slavering Ghoul. HOLY CRAP! 2 kills later got a Libram of Resilience. Seriously, I think Blizz tweaked the drop rates of some stuff with 2.0. They had to have done. My husband got a Dark Whelpling today too. Weirdness.

I have a huge problem selling this...
I got it for maybe a week ago and I have problems selling it for 50g! People just laugh at me and says it's worth 10g... I'm so confsed, it was on AH for 200g many times before but when I try to sell it for 50g everyone seems to run away = /

Dropped from a Legashi satyr in Azshara, and i was alone. YAY! My first epic drop!
I put it on sale but there are 2 others in the AH! Doesn't look that rare to me! I linked it on trade channel for 45G. No buyer.
Better luck in the weekend i hope... :(
But people tend to stay away from items that don't give you + on this and that! Great that some people can sell it for that much money but i don't think i will! ;(

I am a frost mage and I have a bid on one of these babies. I was wondering, does it seem to proc a decent amount or is it rare?

Also, "When Struck In Combat", does that include melee and spell combat? Since I am a caster and we tend to do most of our damage from a distance, will this ring proc on ranged damage taken?

The proccs do stack. I have two of these and have even spoken to a gm about it. you get 2% chance for the procc to happend, at it happends all the time when I wear them...

These are great. I'm a frost mage btw.

Just bought 2 of these in the AH but I'm a fire mage. I like my DPS as a fire but was hoping this would help with a little more crowd control, defense and DPS on my frost spells.

Any thoughts? Is this a total waste of time as a fire mage or does it do me some good.

ive got this and Mark of the chosen trinket equipt all the time and i got say i notice this procing alot more then mark of the chosen even tho this is 1% and mark is 2%

I got 2 of these on ym 70 prot pally, and i must say i am very pleased, when i pulled SM armory, this procced so much and saved me a few seconds to jump down near herod and heal when an add came close, bout 3 of them got frozen in last pull when i popped concencration. as for the pull itself, staff of jordan dropped ;) this item has brought me alot of luck.

I'm curious about that 5 sec freeze, someone on www.wowhead.com/tbc said it'd completely stun your enemy but "freeze" sounds just like the snare of a frostnova...
can anyone clear this up please :)? I hesitate on buying this before i know how it works exactly :]

Frost Mages, Fury Warriors, and Hemo Rogues I seem to have the only difficulty owning so far. With two of these baby's, the Fury Warriors and Rogues will get frozen in place, which means I can own them without getting owned...

And then the Frost Resist gives me more of a chance against those blasted Frost Mages ><.

And here's another cool thing... Hunter's Pets, other Warlocks Pets, and Cat Druids can even be owned -more- because of two of these rings >.>.

I'm really glad I bought this ring. I found one ring that I sold for 237 gold and then bought this one for 80. A few minutes after I put it on, I was in Un'Goro Crater when I got disconnected. When I came back, I had almost no health left and there was a frozen ooze next to me. I managed to sprint out of there and escape with my life.

The draconic mageweavers do not have a drop rate thats notated here any longer. Ive been farming this spot for 4 days straight not 1 thing drops outside of silver. The silver ranges from 4-14s. The magelords have a better droprate of gear. Date 3/26/2020

Me and my buddy just dropped this from a Frenzied Pterrordax in Un'Goro Crater. Says 0% chance on the wiki, mostly likely .0001% and it just doesn't register because the chance is too low.

I wear two of these on an elemental shaman. Yes they stack. Yes they can proc on successive hits (first hit after being frozen, so there's no internal cooldown). Yes you can freeze multiple enemies at once. Yes you can freeze (some) bosses (I haven't done thorough testing and I haven't tried raid bosses yet). Yes you can damage the frozen foe and it won't break.
I've read that people like these on a mage, but I highly recommend on a shaman: it's lore-friendly, and a shaman can actually tank some hits to give the ring(s) a chance to proc.
I like this more than I probably should. Nice fun gimmick that can rescue you. And since it's a ring you keep the utility of trinkets.
