Done him today with my lvl 50 warlock, the axe dropped though. Rotgrip is a huge crocodile, hitting me (cloth) for 300 dmg with soul link active. He ain't easy, but he is not as hard as Princess is.

His loot table is either to drop Rotgrip mantle, or Albino Crocodile Boots or Gatorbite axe.

To reach him, just jump down in the water after you have killed the Princess.

Also got a stacking bleed attack with decent damage. Patrolds the waters below the Princess. Easy kill for most groups, you should even be able to do him when 1 or 2 people ditches the group after the princess, as long as you've got a tank and a healer.

Rotgrip hits really hard, 500 - 600 damage if i remember right. A tank is not important at Rotgrip, well would be good but can be done without, since he will change targets often so the best way to kill him is to damage him hardcore style

Make sure that someone doesn't accidentally aggro him until your group is ready. Happened to me a few times and the results were disasterous.

Its stacking bleed can stack up to 20 times and deals up to 545 damage per tick.

Rotgrip is in the water under the bridge leading to the Princess. You get to him by going through the tunnel by Tinkerer Gizlock.

or so it seems, if ur farming for the mantle the boots drops, and if ur farming for the boots the axe drops... and so on :P

The problem with this monster is not that he hits hard, it's his Puncture ability. It's a physical affliction (i.e. it can't be dispelled or cured) and it increases over time. It starts out very low at around 25 damage every 3 seconds but increases the amount of damage by 25 every three seconds. So you'll see...

You suffer 23 damage from Rotgrip's Puncture.
You suffer 48 damage from Rotgrip's Puncture.
You suffer 73 damage from Rotgrip's Puncture.
...
You suffer 518 damage from Rotgrip's Puncture.

It appears to max out at 518. The actual duration of the afflication is around 10 seconds but he can recast it about every 2-3 seconds so it keeps getting refreshed, like the stacking ability of a Warrior's Sunder Armor ability.

A 58 warrior and a 58 priest could NOT duo this guy. Or at least we couldn't figure out how to. Our dps was just too low ... got him down to about 30% but with the 518 damage every 3 seconds, the priest was soon out of mana and that was the end of the ballgame.

Got my boots on the 2nd try. They are so awesome! He's easy to kill, not too hard like the Princess. Anyways, good luck to those who want to get the Boots! :)

Soloed him with about 75% of my hitpoints left when he died. Combatspec, used BF, AR, Evasion and SnD.

Why does it say he drops a bow from a BE quest? A very low level one at that...

ran it 3 times always get the boots pissing me of 48 tauren warrior its true he is 20 times bigger than me and i put my guys hight to the max he crits 650's when i had a purple sheild on and a blue sword. Anyways he nvr drops the axe and when he does its rare cause on my other file ran 7 times and got it once! :(

This guy hits hard and fast. Keep shield block/holy shield up at all times and if you're a dwarf pop stoneform at about 50 percent to get rid of the stacked up punctures and give your healer a bit of a break.

All I have to say is that stoneform is ftw at the end of the fight when you have 10 punctures stacked on you with several ticks left, you're out of mana and have 600 health left and the shadow priest healer has been OOM since Rotgrip was at 30 percent. Saves a Divine Shield cooldown, never know when I might need to bubble hearth.

rofl is right, if anyone hasn't noticed yet (either you havn't played the game, or forgot about it). this gator is similar to the one in the Indiana Jones game called "THe Emperor's Tomb" it is the first real boss in the first lvls. he is a 50ft croc (also albino, but obviously is much bigger than any croc he has fought before in the game) and the only way to beat him is... well you don't. First you trap him, then you do what you have to do to get some artifact thingy that plays a major role in the story, then one of the German/Nazi mercenaries tries to steal it from him and he is thrown into the water and the gator gets a good bite outta him...

If you see the princesses drops she drops an epix ring and bac.... the same drop drops in a raid i know so.... dont know if these are true of somethings messed up.?

Just for fun tried to solo this guy in mara as a 60 pally 5/8 lightforge. Fight lasted a good 5min b4 he finally got me. Whats killer about him is that he stacks and effect similar to rend and i dont know how many times he can stack it but the highest he had one me was 13 stacks! Very hard to lay the dmg needed and still stay alive. I wiped when he had about 1/4 health left and also exhausted all my tricks. I assume druids could prob solo him easliy if he can be rooted however.

When your group is able to kill the princess, this crocodile is no problem at all.

He`s even very weak compared to the princess.

Rotgrip mantle dropped, the mage in our group was véry happy with it (so happy he forgot he was under water and he drowned, our priest needed to res him :P).

Me, a lvl 49 enhancment shaman, a 51 balance druid, and a lvl 47 warrior 3 maned him. It was crazy. I DPS'd and off healed while the druid nuked and healed. I died, druid battle rezed, and then we continued. Tank dies, druid dies, and its just me, and he has about 1/4th life left... and I kill him. Amazing.

51 WAR tried tanking this last night with a 54% reduction in damage was hitting me for 400-500's :/

Needless to say, after the 800 crit on me I was no more, and it proceeded to wipe out our party.

It's very easy HP wise, the damage it does is insane though.

I saw this in a Mara farming video, but hunters can very easily solo him.

Go to the lowest area in the middle and stand on the little corner that sticks out. You should be in range of him and avoid the patting stone packs. Use Eyes of the Beast to move your pet down to the water where Rotgrip passes, and set it to stay.

When he comes, wait for him to aggro your pet, then Auto-Multi-Serpent-Auto until he swims out of range. FD, and he'll start going back to your pet. Do the same nuking again, and once FD is up, use it. Remember to jump up after FDing, or you might falll off or aggro a pat. Just keep doing this, and after the first nuking, remember to hit Rotgrip befor he beats up your pet. Keep doing this and he'll eventually go down. Those boots are nice for DPS NR gear :)

I'm a rogue in a mix of tier 1/tier 2 and I can solo him just barely. He hits anywhere from 400 to 500 noncrit.

With evasion + AR its a pretty close fight.

So far 2/3 attempts. Drop your damn boots.

Just yesterday I was running my girlfriend through Mara with my Warrior friend... and WOW, his HP dropped like a shot down airplane at this guy... he litterally out DPS'd my HoT's and I had to Battle Res...
This guy hits way too hard for lvl 47-50 tanks. Much harder than Princess

2 lvl 60's and the tank died =/

He hits hard. Really hard. Me and my guild have killed this guy twice now and he even critted the lv 60 paladin for 900 or so so watch out for this one. Doesnt have high health as damage so we dropped him almost right after he had died.

60 rogue. I haven't been in Maraudon in a long time so can't remember if you can stealth to this guy. I'd still take these boots if it were possible. Anyone know?

i have this axe on Zackuss my night elf hunter (lvl 47 almost 48)
and this axe is great (Gatorbite Axe) and i love this axe ill kiss it before i get rid of it. I love this axe so much ill do it with it.

This is the easiest boss i have EVER done, im lvl 70 now but when i was in lvl for mara, this is too easy... i have done this boss like 12 times and not even one wipe.

soloed this guy as a hemo rogue. used 2x evasion and CB evis, and a superior healing potion.

We skipped the princess just to do rotgrip for the rogues and we killed him with 2 druids and 2 rogues. Only took 4 of us. 1 druid was 50, other was 46. both rogues were 49.

To bad he didnt drop the boots :(

This croc hits harder than the princess, but has fewer HP. He was hitting the 60 warrior we had tanking him for upper 300s sometimes and he hit me for 550+.

He doesn't do any special AE's or fears, so he's logistically not as difficult. You just have to keep your tank healed and take him down before the healer runs out of mana.

Rotgrip swims around this water area below and next to the area where the princess is. Short way of getting to Rotgrip? After killing Princess, go to the waterfalls right next to the area and drop down and if he's not in the vicinity already, he will be in a couple of minutes.

Biggest crocolisk I've ever seen...this thing is like 3 times the length of the hydras in Maraudon, although not as tall (it's a crocolisk, he's flat). Be afraid...be very afraid...

You can stealth to him pretty easily. He's pretty hard for me to solo at the moment. (Hard as in had to down a pot). He hits hard, so evasion is handy. I used prep so i could evade twice, still had to down a pot. I'm a noob.

Its difficult, I think the best I did was 24%. Simply does too much dmg for my pet and I to stay alive for long.

One ability not listed here that absolutely will melt you is Fatal Bite. While on my fairly geared lvl 60 rogue Rotgrip was hitting 500-900 after he cast Fatal Bite
