This has to be one of the most interesting solo quests in the Burning Crusade.

When you start the quest, Doctor Vomisa gives you the Scrap Reaver Controller. When used, you'll gain the Scrap Reaver X6000 under your control, just like a hunter or warlock pet (not direct control, like Mind Control). The Scrap Reaver has three abilities at your disposal. All three abilities are on a linked 10 second cooldown. One ability is a two second stun, which isn't nearly as useful as the other 2 abilities in almost all situations. The second ability is called "Smash" (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/spell=34618). It deals a large amount of instant damage, and causes a very large amount of threat, as the tooltip describes. You should use this as soon as the fight starts to be sure you or any allies you have helping you do not get aggro from Negatron. He hits extremely hard and should only be tanked by the Scrap Reaver. The Reaver's last ability is a self-heal, named "Repair" (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/spell=34619). It heals 10,000 damage over 10 seconds (1000 per second), regardless of the odd/buggy tooltip. This ability should be used early, and not as a last resort after your Reaver is low on health. Be aware that Negatron has a 75% healing effect reduction ability called "Demolish." Try to time your repairs when your Reaver is not afflicted by Demolish.

This quest will take a few tries, so don't get frustrated if you aren't able to complete it at first. It's a decent challenge, but just be patient and get a feel for when to use your Reaver's abilities. Be sure not to walk too far away from Vomisa's console, or you'll lose control of the Scrap Reaver and Negatron will make a beeline to you, and he is much faster than players on foot.

Slam a couple of times at the start of the fight to give the robot initial threat. Then DPS whilst spamming the heal ability. Slam whilst the robot is above 40%, spam heal if he has less hp. You need to dps this fight, healers don't stand back and spam heal the pet, too much dmg to heal trough.

This quest is rediculous, it is impossible to get range as a hunter. I can't even get at shooting range unless he's doing his earthquake move which is not frequently. This quest is beyond annoying because of this, I've died 4 times now due to this bug.

Update: Can't even get range when he's earthquaking now, and my pet just random disappeared. Great! Love repair bills every 2 minutes.

Very easy if you have Improved Leader of the Pack, since the pet gets it as well. I only looked once near the end but I think ILotP heals it for 2400 or so everytime it crits.

This was, most lilkely, the best quest that I've encountered for a long time. Great solo potential if you use your Reaver the correct way.

Used slam and smash in the beginning, and as I was a warrior I had sunders up all the time and I never took aggro. That way both me and the reaver had max damage on the target. Used his healing ability like a madman, and had up Commanding Shout for the extra HP buff. Note that I was very careful when I applied sunders, as I didn't want to take aggro.

Too bad that the rewards didn't really benefit me in any way, except for the space helmet. That was great fun.

Soloed it as an 69 Frost mage. Just smash once and then spam heal. But Frost Mages beware: I died two times because I summoned my Water Elemental. When it appeared the Scrap Reaver vanished and Negatron quickly killed me. So just stand back outside of his earthquake, spam heal and spam your nuke.

It seems the Negatron targets the person on top of the aggro list, but for soem reason stays in melee range of the person in second place of the aggro list. I say this 'cos on most of my tries he stuck close to me while tagetting X6000 and then another try when an alliance strated helping he never pulled aggro but the Negatron after a while ran over to the alliance and stuck close to him, saldy the alliance got spooked and ran off, causing the X6000 to go out of range and despawn and the Negatron to batter him, then me :(

Soloable. Start off with his special attack so he gets aggro. Then just hit his heal whenever it comes up (but only if he isn't mortal striked). It may take a little while, but it is doable.

I am having a problem with this quest. Everything is going along fine, my Fel Reaver will be at half health or more, and once Negatron gets to about 10-15%, my Reaver despawns and Nega whoops on me. I've tried about 10 times, and everytime it's the exact same thing. I'm trying this solo, and the only thing I can think is if there's some sort of time limit? I know others have said it's been slow for them, but is my pally damage so low that I'm exceeding a time limit? So far it seems like I''m the only one having this problem...

I did this at level 69 with my hunter (Marksmanship specced).

First time I forgot to use heal (:D)

Second time I went out of range of the console, but hey..

Third time I made it.

Basicly, you will also need to DPS, since the robot alone doesn't do that much DPS...
Will take ages.

Tooltip of the heal is bugged, but heals 1000/s, and 250 if Mortal Striked.

Mortal Strike lasts 5 seconds, so if you pop the heal, and then the hostile robot MS's, the heal will do 5000 + 1250.

Summon your pet and you're doomed :D

soloed as a fury warrior, i followed what the above comments said:
first i used SMASH, then i spammed REPAIR regarldless if he had the debuff or not. I then started dpsing - never had to smash again, but other classes might need to be careful. Try not to HS that much and instead use slam or something. He took a while but he went down and i finished the quest. Just keep spamming REPAIR.

Very soloable, did it as a 70 demon lock, just smashed slam in the beginning and then applied agony, corr and immolate all the while smashing the heal button. Had to soulshatter in the end to reduce aggro from me, but other than that it was a breeze. Very fun tho.

easily solo'd as a 70 holy pally. used my 2h to do light dps(only kind i have)

smash once, keep smashing till he's at around 60% then spam repair. when negatron gets to about 10% and if the fel reaver is still at 30%+, spam smash to kill.

Robot seems to go offline every time you get the mini-boss to 20% now. Not very cool when you spent all your mana keeping your pet topped off and spamming slams imho

Definately solo'able, did this with a cb/prep/hemo rogue. Just keep spamming the Fel reaver's heal and you should be ok.

A tip for hunters wanting to solo this, if you get charged at any time during the attempt you will want to reset it because from then on Negatron will always try to be within melee range of you even if you did not aggro him. To avoid this, I used Smash first thing to get aggro on the robot, then ran away to approximately 30 yards and started firing away. I kept Hunters Mark and Scorpid Sting up the entire fight. I also used Misdirection + Distracting Shot onto the felreaver pet to make sure I never pulled aggro. Between 30-35 yards away is the "Sweet spot" where Negatron will not charge you and you will be unaffected by the earthquake. By the way, try not to go out of 35 yard range because everytime I did that the pet despawned and Negatron came after me. Good luck.

as a 70 UD warrior MS build, all i really did was 1 smash a repair then another smash followed by all repairs and it worked well. i did auto-attack which helped a little but when he was at 30 percent i popped recklessness and it was over.

Solo'd it as a resto shaman at 70. Took forever to kill him, but auto-attack, searing totem, and flame shock finally did the trick. You could probably keep the robot up forever as long as you use his repair ability enough, so don't worry if your DPS is low. I popped Bloodlust at 30% or so and noticed that the robot benefits from it also.

Solo'd as a 70 fury warrior on the second try. I used Repair whenever the healing debuff wasn't on the robot. When it was, I used Smash. It ended up being close, though... my robot died when Negatron was at about 8%. I managed to finish Negatron off just in time.

This is one of the coolest quests in the game imo.

Did it as 70 Warlock on the third try. During the successful try, I slammed only the first 2 times und then continued only repairing. Could go out full on damage without getting aggro. My Pet Reaver was at around 35% when Negatron went down.

Make sure to stand close to the Negatron yourself, or else he will charge you. His Earthquake does only little damage and is nothing to worry about.

I just found out that you cannot just let the robot solo the whole time due to some time limit. Damage must be done to Negatron by you or another player on this quest. I'm a holy priest; I tried to solo heal the pet while it tanked. I was only healing and doing no damage myself. It was working fine until Negatron got down to about 15% then my pet despawned, leaving me as the only target. I didn't last long. After another try with the same result I was forced to find a group to finish the quest.

warlocks be adviced that you can use health funnel on your pet, giving it just a bit extra hp :)

Mind you that this comment was written when patch 2.0.* was still running, during this time one could easily solo this quest, however this quest changed in a patch after (2.3 if I recall correctly) which supposedly made it near impossible to solo.

Clearly not. This quest is incredibly based on luck. If you want to do this properly, then get 2-3 people to help you out. I do not see how people can say this is soloable, its soloable down to luck. I have tried 5 times solo, and its failed. I get a lot of misses, and dodges, 10 seconds for a miss? Is this exactly "soloable". Its not. The robot despawns after 2-3 minutes.

"all i did was spam heal!!!" - Err, the mob does mortal strike + earthquake, god knows how you kept up the healing on this.

This quest is not the funniest quest in game, id rather run naked in my back garden than call this quest "fun". It is a headache, just get a group if you wish to get this quest done first time. However you might be lucky and get 10k crits each time, and your robot dodges a lot of the mobs hits. Though for me never happened once in the 7 tries.

The smash did nothing to hold aggro.
The robot was a LOT higher than me in KTM and the damn thing kept aggroing me anyway. The repair-function seems out of order. Not once did I see my robots health actually rise.
All in all making this quest damn hard.

Just soloed this as a Balance spec'd druid, it took two deaths to figure out how to do this alone.

Started off with a Slam to generate agro, followed by Repair. I found that alternating Slam and Repair works best - the stun is useless. I spammed Starfire for slow but noticeable DPS (3k crits, better than Wrath for this as you don't want to steal agro. He hit for 4k on my druid.)

It is of note to say that Force of Nature (Treants) do NOT hurt your control of the robot, so feel free to summon them. It is also of note to mention that it is a waste of mana to heal the robot using your own spells, 99% of the heal is wasted, as it just doesn't land on the robot.

Did it alone as a fresh lvl 70 shadow priest. Actually pretty easy when you know what you're doing. I used the robot to tank, while I did the dps. Used only 3 smash (or whatever the name of the attack - not the stun) just to make sure robot kept aggro. Rest of time I used the repair (heal) thing on him, while I dotted and mind flay the big guy. Sent shadow fiend to get mana back, and voila! :)

tried soloing this as a 70 holy priest in my dps gear, the robot kept aggro easily, i just alternately used smash and repair, occasionally healing the robot, and keeping SWP and holy fire on negatron, but the damn robot despawned when the elite was at 10%

If you're a Warlock, you can use health funnel on your bot to regenerate his health. It won't regenerate very much, but hey if you want to, go for it. This might be useful so you can spam more smashes instead of heals to keep aggro up, especially if you're Affliction specced and want to dot up Negatron.

Most mechanical mobs are immune to "life" effects such as siphon life and drain life. I guess it's a bit tough to siphon the life out of a machine. Anyway, he's not immune to either, so siphon/drain away.

Soled as Mut/Combat rogue. Used smash only once, then nothing but the healing ability afterwards. Unloaded on the guy without feinting, never once did I pull aggro off it, hence only one smash should do it, then just spam its heal.

I solo'd this on my hunter (MM). Just remember no pet. What was weird is that I never pulled Negatron onto me even with a long string of crits. I did use a mana pot, but other than that, it wasn't at all bad to solo.

I did this as a feral Druid in cat form and with significant dps. This was easily soloable and at the end of the fight, neither I nor the robot were below 90% health.

I did a slam to generate aggro then spammed repairs. I used my normal dps attacks "mangle" that can normally take the aggro off a tank. The robot didn't lost aggro once.

The robot didn't get below 74% health. There was no chance to lose this battle and at no time did I need to heal.

Very easy for my Ret paladin. Started with Smash, then used Repair until Negatron died. I just stood behind Negatron attacking for the extra damage boost needed to kill it. All in all, easy to solo.

If you have the ability to do this quest, DO IT NOW! Come patch, he won't have Repair, so you'll actually need a group.

I seriously doubt this quest is soloable for anyone because, as mentioned, the robot pet's repair ability was removed.

A 70 mage and myself did help a 70 hunter with this quest out last night, however. Both the mage and hunter were all epic'd out and I'm a level 68 shadow priest with moderate gear for my level. The mage and hunter both dps'd the robot and I strapped my rather gimp healing gear on and I spammed heals on the robot while he held aggro. It was tough and I ran out of mana at the very end, but we did it. Prayer of mending really helped us get through Negatron's aoe.

The bottom line here, I guess, is that it's no longer soloable, but you don't need a full 5-man to do it, either.

In your face, Blizzard. Just soloed as a 70 mage in my pve gear (spellfire + spellstrike). 33/28 scorch spam spec. Spammed the robot's threat/damage ability as often as possible and he kept barely ahead of me on threat the whole time. X6000 died when Negatron as at like 11k or so health. Trink + pom+pyro, fireblast, blink, scorch, blastwave, arcane explosion, and he was dead. He did hit me twice, for 1600+ and 1400+ though. Shoulda fraps'ed it.

I cannot stress how easy this is. You complete the quest wether your robot lives or dies. Kite the boss back to Area 52. Let the guards take care of him. Watch the guard's hp and gg. Easy blue reward and a good 13g. (Rougly 15k xp)

The quest giver is just east of Area 52 half way to the bridge on left side of the road.

Tried kiting Negatron to Area 52 but he either resets or catches up and kills me! The fel reaver toy despawns if you go too far from the goblin and there does seem to be a timer on the fight. Me and another priest tried healing through it but after a while he just resets.

I ended up asking for 2 other ppl to help (1 extra dps would've been plenty) and got it done easy.

I did this quest last night (6/20) with a hunter helping me. I took control of the Scrap Reaver (Holy Paladin) while the hunter did DPS. Overall not a difficult thing, Smash (The aggro/damage ability) is very nice to use at the start of the fight, at least a few times to build up aggro. However, i dont think Slam is as useless as some people make it out to be. To ease the pain of healing this robot, I used the slam to interupt Negatron's channeled ability, Earthquake. It seemed to help.

The other thing to be aware of, is the seeming glitch with Negatron. He seemed at first that my hunter had pulled aggro, because Negatron started advancing towards her, But aggro was still on the Scrap Reaver. Negatron just kept sliding at her, which was a pain in the ass due to the range factor needed as a hunter.

Lastly, If your healing the Reaver (Since the Heal function has been removed) always check to make sure he isnt "Devastated" when you do so. It's Icon is the same as Mortal strike, and the effect is simmilar (75% Reduced effect from healing).

Just soloed this with the new Scrap Reaver that has no repair ( patch 2.1 ). So it *is* still possible to solo it. But depending on your class and spec you might not be able to.

I have about 800 spell damage and 11% crit. Finished the fight with 1000 DPS (including the pet damage). I made liberal use of mana pots. You will run low on mana so life tap/evocate if your a lock/mage. It still wouldn't hurt to bring mana pots since you don't want to be spending much time getting mana and not DPSing.

Being a shadow priest I produce a ton of threat and the reaver was able to hold aggro. I never used stun because the 4000 or so damage plus threat from smash is too good. And it will add to your DPS since what you want to do is DPS as fast and as hard as you can before scrap reaver dies.

I barely made it out. The scrap reaver died when negatron was at 1% and I managed to live long enough to squeeze out a victory.

Frost Mage - Soloed... Kinda lol. Others may try Tho using my same Dynamics.

Materials Needed: Swiftness Potion.

*Note: I'd say health potion but the swiftness pot kills the CD. <3

Start the quest, When u start it, throw up frost shield... Back up to the torch right next to the road. Then spam ur pet attack button so that ur pet moves to Negatron the second he pops aggressive. Let the pet smack him a bit, then using Ice Lance, you hit em once or twice.

*Note: Ice Lance is a low DPS insta cast spell, I use it to create LOW hate. You'll see why in a minute.

Then stun negatron with the pet, and start bookin towards Area 52. Make sure, however, you make sure to ice lance when u think you might deagro the guy. To assist with that, JUST to make sure, I pulled out my water elemental. Also, if negatron got too close early, since my ice lances are so low DPS, and my pets hit pretty hard, my pet would pull him in the opposite direction giving me more head start. Between your travels from the initiating the quest, to Area 52, you'll notice negatron is one fast motha fu<ka. So when u think hes getting kinda close for comfort, pop that swiftness pot. It will put u to a running speed, I thought, was the same speed (%50) or a TINY bit faster... I don't know, I didn't care... He was fast, so i got fast.

Upon entering the town, you are NOT out of the clear. The guards who are "Agents" as the last part of their names, will NOT help you... So don't hang out around them thinking they will... It is the Brusiers that run in to smack megatron. SO, I ran through the doorway closest to the Gryphon master (Still had swiftness up) Forward, then taking an immediate left across the bridge that heads to the engineering supplier, agroing the brusiers around me... (CONTINUE ICE LANCING AS NEEDED, YOU CAN LOSE AGRO EVEN WITH BRUISERS BASHING HIM!) Then i continued into almost a square by taking a right running to the other bridge.

**Note Somewhere in town between the agroing the guards and going across the OTHER bridge to the inn, i Ice blocked... When i ice blocked, I allowed the bruisers to get agro, so i stayed Blocked the full duration**

Now if you're lucky, as I was, Allies AND horde in town see this going on and are like "DAMN I WANT TO KILLZ THE BOT!!!!" And help you out...If not, well, you got cold snap, Ice barrier, and Ice block with the water elemental for a short distraction to keep ya goin. Just keep agroing all the bruisers u can, cus he swats em down. GL

*NOTE: Used Ice Lance btw if you didnt catch it, because it does low dps, and causes the lowest amount of threat while i was moving, needed to make it easy for the guards to pull hate off me.*

A HUGE tip for hunters!

Most pet abilities like Kill Command will show that they are active during the fight, however when you try to use them they will display "You don't have a pet."

However!

It seems healing pet abilities do work - namely, Leader of the pack, and more importantly, Mend Pet works!

Painful lessons:
* If you are healing the Reaver, you have to target Negatron in order to perform any of the pet attacks (e.g. Smash).
* Healing the Reaver gave me aggro even after using Smash 3 times.
* Negatron charges when you try to run away.

Conclusion: not solo-able.

did it with my 68 retri paladin with help of 70 druid i healed while robot and druid attacked never used slam. when out of mana druid gave me mana buff i waited till mana up then same tactic when megatron down scrap reaver had around 20% health

Just soloed as a 70 Feral druid in tank gear. Had around 19k+ armor, 15k+ HP, 30%+ dodge. I just buffed up with everything I could lay my hands on (pots, scrolls, spells), summoned him, went bear and took the agro. I periodically used the slam ability for the DPS and then immediately growled to get agro back. I had to use frienzied regen with a full rage bar during the fight, and when things started going pear shaped again I used slam to dump all the agro on the pet and then shifted out to heal right back up. This technique seemed quite viable. Rinse and repeat. The pet had about 45% HP left at the end. Each slam was doing around 3500-4000 damage with Nega having some 110k HP so using the twin tank technique worked well and we outlasted him.

To avoid problems with this quest is requested a very good healer and a DPS.

Me, an elem shammy lvl70 (but still light geared), and a shadow priest lvl 70 failed it three times cause we hadnt enough mana to heal and dps. When a true healer came helping us we did it very easy.

Negatron has an AOE ability called Earthquake who deals damage in a short range...casters have to stay away from him. Let your Scrap Reaver getting aggro before do some DPS and use his Smash ability on every cooldown if you dont want have Negatron on you...

Prot warriors can solo this as well.

Negatron is tauntable. Use the robot's smash ability whenever available (every 10 sec), and when he gets aggro, taunt Negatron back off him.

If you get low health, let the pet tank (let him get a few smashes in and dont taunt) so you can bandage up (wait til right after an earthquake to bandage).

Remember to keep demo shout and thunderclap on Negatron, keep him fully sundered of course, and the pet can benefit from battle shout.

I was able to solo it without needing to health pot (i think i bandaged 2 times) or shield wall or last stand, but i did not do this quest as a fresh 70. If youre taking a lot of damage, use your first health pot early and let the pet tank when needed for bandaging. You may be able to get a 2nd health pot in, and if it's really close at the end, shield wall and last stand.

I was pretty disappointed as well to see the heal button missing now... I have done this quest twice on other toons in the past, and thought I was having UI troubles until I checked wowhead here and saw that it was changed in a recent patch.

Solo'd tonight as a shadow priest however. Reasonably well geared, about +750 shadow damage. I was able to just spam the pets smash ability every time the cooldown was up, while at the same time DPSing the reaver like I would any normal mob - SW:P, VE, VT, Mind blast and mind flays. The vampiric healing kept the little reaver up, though I finished the fight with only 5/100 hp left on him and had to use a mana pot as the fight was pretty long.

I haven't seen anyone sayng this but maybe i've missed it (37 comments atm =>) The quest's name is a quote to I, Robot a collection of sci-fi short stories by Isaac Asimov. Which was recently adopted in 2004 in a film with of the same title starrign WIll Smith. (though it's not an actuall adoptation it sure does have a lot of quotes)

Soloable with a hunter. Here's what I did:

1. Put a freezing (slowing) trap slightly up the road towards Area 52.
2. Take control of the pet robot, wait for the reaver to appear, target him and spam the bot's slam attack as to grab aggro immediately when the reaver turns hostile.
3. Run back behind your trap and shoot the reaver. If you've placed the trap far enough up the road this will despawn your mechanical pet and the reaver will aggro you.
4. Call your own pet now. You can use it to temporarily distract the reaver if it gets too close to you/starts hitting you. It will also allow you to feign death once without having the reaver reset. He will pwn your pet quickly but it allows you to get some distance.
5. Run towards Area 52, lay a second freezing trap along the way. Sometimes the reaver will not even trigger the trap because he's ran past it before the 2 second trap delay is over. Make sure you keep aggro on the reaver (shooting him once with Arcane Shot was enough in my case).
6. Shortly before I entered Area 52 I had to pop a health potion as not to die. Your mileage may vary.
7. If you get the Area 52 guards to aggro the reaver you're pretty much sorted. If you die your ghost will spawn directly in front of the town gates, just run back in and res. The reaver will still be there, fighting the guards. Keep assisting them. As has been correctly mentioned above, the goblin "guards" (Netherstorm Agents) will not help you, but the two elite ogres in front of the Arena vendor building will. So make sure you get the reaver into their aggro range. Feign Death as soon as you see them aggroing the reaver.

Optionally you can use speed buffing measures (nifty stopwatch, swiftness potion, even cheetah aspect), your mileage may vary here. If the freezing traps trigger and you use your pet/FD ability smartly it is possible to get to Area 52 without any speed boosts, however.

The reaver killed at least two guards, and two players who jumped in to help. All in all, it was pretty priceless to watch him cause havoc in the town while shooting him from behind.

I just soloed this today as a lvl 70 Warlock, after 5 tries.

Blue Equipment, with Frozen Shadoweave set on. Affliction Spec

As the fight starts, Negatron immediately aggros your pet. I opened with a Smash, and kept repeating Smash as often as the cooldowns let me.

Smash has a 10 Second cooldown.

I popped Immolate, Unstable Affliction, Curse of Agony, Corruption, and Siphon Life. ~9.5 seconds worth of spells.

Then I went onto to Heal my pet the way that warlocks do, which is a 10 second channel. I popped Smash as soon as the Heal started, and again after it ended.

Rinse and Repeat. Usually I wait until my DoT's have run thier course before I re-cast. With the Exception of Siphon Life, I didn't bother this fight. You're going to be almost constantly channeling health into your pet, so you don't want to interrupt your cast to reapply dots. Negatron WILL eventually win via attrition this way, so you have to do as much fast damage as you can.

An additional note. You should always keep your pet in between you and Negatron. The reason for this is your pet healing spell has a low range in comparison to everything else. If you are too close to Negatron trying to heal your pet, you will get interrupted with the Earthquake spell that occurs, and be stunned for several seconds.

It was a very close fight, with my pet on its last sliver of health before Negatron finally bit it.

Just solo'd it, 17/44 Fury Warrior. Tossed on my tanking gear, kept him on me most of the time and passed him to the reaver whenever i needed to bandage, easy as pie.

Soloed as frost mage, 911 frost damage, level 70.

All I did was standing at max range to avoid charge, using the reavers ability that does 3k damage + threat, and spammed frostbolts with icy veins x2 + trinket. My Reaver-pet died when boss was at 8% and I had to summon my elemental for the last 20seconds and kite the Reaver around a bit.

Wouldn't recomend to solo this unless you have 700 spell damage or more, I used mana gem + mana pot, but it was rather simple.

As a 70 holy priest I just grouped up with a 70 rogue. The rogue used the remote control after which I could heal the scrap reaver. I tried solo before, but it didn't allow me to heal him then. Also, he is buffable, the extra health might just cut it.

Anyway, I had to use a mana potion and some cooldowns, but he went down. Scrap reaver was at 10 pct though, very close fight but fun if you manage it with 2.

Just solod this as a 70 shadow priest. Tried the method of healing the reaver but i went oom too fast, so, while the controlled reaver was still alive i just ran to A52, spamming dots on Negatron, then ran inside the room with the Ogre guards.

Luckily he started casting earthquake and by the time he was done the guards had taken aggro. Since the reaver despawned i was able to shadowfiend and just do as much dps as possible. When he died i got credit for the kill.

Soloed as a 70 resto druid in mostly pvp healing gear. Tree of life, spam hots, moonfire/wrath a few times, and every 10 seconds switch back to the scrap reaver and use the slam ability. Should take about 4-5 minutes.

A few notes for shaman doing this quest:

The scrap reaver is affected by totems and bloodlust/heroism, so you can use those to buff the reaver and make it easier. The greater elemental totems do not count as true pets, so you can use them and not lose control of your pet reaver.

For what it's worth, the pet is (under certain circumstances) unnecessary for this quest.

Did it today with a friend (resto shaman, 1200 healing); I am a prot pally with 13k hp and a decent amount of avoidance. My friend's UI mods wouldn't let him bring up the pet bar to use its abilities, so it did very little damage, and died even with both of us healing it.

Once the pet died, I picked up Negatron, and tanked him until he died. I had no trouble keeping him aggroed, though the shaman died due to a charge/earthquake. He self-rezzed, and easily kept me up the rest of the fight. It took 12 minutes due to awful tankadin DPS, but we could have gone on quite a bit longer with no trouble. All I did was judge Wisdom on Negatron, seal Wisdom on myself, and keep up Holy Shield and Consecrate, with the occasional Avenging Wrath thrown in. I ran out during the Earthquakes, and just waited for him to come to me afterwards.

He was only hitting me for about 500 damage a shot, although his Demolish (basically a Mortal Strike) was good for about 2k damage. Demolish doesn't stay up for long, though, so it didn't impact the heals on me much at all.

I'm not at all suggesting that this is the ideal way to do it, but having a tank around is very handy if your pet goes down during the fight, or if you are somehow unable to use it (like we were).

As a holy paladin with a smittering of kara/S1 and some blues, you should be able to solo this.

I put blessing of light on my reaver and spammed flash of light. Had to use a couple of potions and lay on hands at the end but the baddy robot died first ^^

My robot was somewhere around 50% health, Omegatron (or whatever it's called) hit 25% health and poof! My robot disappeared. Tried it three times.

Soloed with a lvl 69 rogue, backstabbing whole time applying hemo and slice and dice, with the robot repairing it as much as possible, and stunning rarely. the threat thingy is useless as it gets all threat by healing it'self!

Why does nobody mention

-the earthquake ability of Negatron, which does dmg AND interrupts casts (in an x yards area around him, at least 15 yard)
-the charge ability of Negatron, that does dmg and stuns one person

The repair ability doesn't exist anymore, so you must heal your robot yourself, which isn't easy with Negatron's abilities mentioned above.

Imo it isn't soloable anymore,
-tried dps'ing Negatron (as a 70 warlock with half epic equipment), robot died
-tried it while keep using health funnel (got 2 points in imp health funnel): the charges and earthquaks were interrupting it so much that I couldn't outheal Negatron's dmg

... I think it's only possible to slay him with a good healer in the group now and one or two good dps.

This was frustrating and I (68 feral druid) needed help from a guildie. We first tried this with his 70 warlock. Negatron was at 1% and we both died. He switched to his 70 holy/disc priest and it was considerably easier. A warrior passing by pitched in with DPS. Many thanks to both!

Negatron's Earthquake is a pain. There are stray mobs that are in the general area, like nether rays that could complicate things if you step back a bit. Getting aggro was an issue for me. I did very little in the form of damage so I wouldn't pull aggro.

This quest was fun. Not only do you get a fun helm that shoots you to infinity and above when you complete the quest, the goblins of A52 throw you a fireworks celebration and give you a heroic cheer! What more could you ask for? :D

solo'd as a 67 warlock, you can NOT keep your summoned pet i assume the same is for hunters.. The fight is cake for a warlock just DoT him up and keep them up, health funnel also works to heal, but if you bind the heal button to something and just spam it he should never get below 75% HP.

Couple of Naxx epics.. couple of 60 FM gear +575 Fire dmg
Edit took me 2 trys.. i believe the robot dies at somewhere between 0-10% had 2 trys both times had him below 10% and the robot just die instantly with over 50% HP.. it seemed like i was able to outrun him tho my DoTs killed him off.
Word of advise bandage yourself up before 10% mark.\
He maybe stunable? Semmed like Shadow Fury was stunning him anyone confirm?
DO NOT pull aggro.

If you're interested in soloing this quest and not having to go to the trouble of getting a pug or not getting answered in general chat etc etc:

key things to look out for:

a. you have an pet bar. don't bother using stun, it's stupid.
b. use the (crush?) yeah the one that does a lot of damage and generates a lot of threat.
c. heal yourself consistantly. sometimes do it 2-3 times in a row.

You can attack the negatron yourself and not get hurt for much because it should stay focused on the scrap as long as you use the crush ability every now and then. but i stress this that healing your scrap is most important. its an endurance fight and your pet does healed for a lot. so just keep it up you can kill him easilly. most noobs think its just dps yourself and no pet bar lol.

Use the 4k damage skill to build some aggro in the beggining. When his health gets around 70% start using the heal untill he gets more than 85% and that's when you can use the damage skill again. Do not pull the aggro or the robot will bug and start following you while atking your "pet". Also never go out of the goblin sight, because by doing that you will desummon your robot
You can pop all your cooldowns in the beggining because it's gonna take 4 or 5 minutes to finish the battle, so you can reactivate em before the end

Note: You can use your "Mend Pet" skill to heal him, but since the elite hits for 1k it wont be a good idea. You can also use "Comand: Kill" but it will spend your mana while not doing any damage. It's probably a bug.

Tried the quest twice now and my Robot just randomly despawns halfway through the fight leaving me to be 2-3 shot by Negatron.

I have 69 lvl hunter and tried that few times and then did it.
Marksman hunters have enough dps to easily do it but I saw two big bugs:
-When that fel reaver uses Charge, after that it keeps following me damaging the robot at the same time. That makes hunter unable to shoot and then your wiped.
-Sometimes the robot just disappears and you know how fast u get pwned by that fel reaver.

this is a new formation for class quests in Blade's Edge Rexxar gives a Rogue-Like quest... How to be a rogue... and now with this is a Hunter-Like quest you have a combat pet for a short period and fight with it... Boss is hard but pet is strong enough to solo (I dont believe hunters can solo if their all pets like this robot) but if u also done rogue quest you ll notice the Rogue pet's HP it is One Hit K.O pet like all we rogues...

Also must be a Tank-like Healer-like Mage-like quests in game any1 found any of them...

Like the others said, spam the Heal button. I used the STUN skill every 3 heals and the robot ended with 50% life. I only drew aggro every few seconds but it was onnly from 1 hit. However, i did have to do this quest twice even though I downed the elite the first time >> bit buggy.

Easily soloable by a demonology warlock. Summon Voidwalker, Demonic Sac him. Start quest. DoT, Immolate, with an occasional Shadowbolt or Incinerate if you wish (but take it easy dont pull aggro away from robot).

Like others said, just press the "repair" button on the robot each time the cooldown is finished. When the reaver nears his demise, he starts to do more damage. At this point you can start nuking him.

Takes a little time (a few minutes), but I was at full health at the end, no use of healthstones.

I was able to solo it(twice) as a resto druid, used 2 mana pots and innervate. Unfortunatly I didn't get credit either time. I'm guessing a player needs to land the killing blow.

This quest is soloable i soloed as a 70 Ferel Druid. Not the easiest quest to solo but its possible. I killed him right before a quake killed me, and got credit for the quest. (took me 15 tries to get a strat down that isnt the best thing to try)

If you activate the controller a robot spawns with a very high amount of HP. This fight is soloable, you should not be able to get aggro.

Your minion has got the following abilities:
1. Stuns your target for 2 seconds and does a high amount of aggro
2. Does around 8000 Dmg
3. Heal your minion for 10000 HP over 1 second

While controlling the minion you will be able to fight, it's just like you had a pet like a hunter has.

In order to solo this, you need to know a few things.

1. The robot has a limited life span. It will spontaneously die in the middle of the fight--no matter how much you spam the repair button.

2. You have to hit the elite with as much dps as you can muster in order to kill it before the robot disappears--that's why this is a "group" quest. Some classes or builds won't have the dps to solo this.

3. The robot has to hold aggro or you will get squashed.

So, disregard the bragging "I soloed this" posts and evaluate your own dps before you try to solo this.

There is a bit of luck involved with this- the first time doing it, Negatron got several crits in and smooshed my robot very quickly. The second time I drew aggro around 25%, so I recommend having your robot use his Smash attack when Negatron is around 40% or so. The third time it was fine, and I was able to let the robot attack a couple more times instead of healing continously. It is still soloable even after today's patch which said it nerfed your robot's self-heal.

Note- do not summon a pet during the fight, as it will despawn your robot and you will be promptly smeared into a fine paste.

First thing that occurred to me was -ROFL- , the lil fel reaver u get takes ur pets spot , I imagine what BM kitty cat reliant hunters do in this funny situation ^^ MM FTW

I agree , this is hardly soloable...
Im a MM hunter and I tried twice alone and i got him to 70% , than painful death... Than , a half epic rogue and a full T4 geared , prot speced war helped me. I took us 2-3 minutes to kill it finally...
Im not a healer , so i dunno can u solo it as one , but i doubt it.

BTW Hunters: U cant kite ! Aside from its charge ability its faster than u with the aspect , concussive doesnt help either.

I'm a Prot warrior, just put on my dps gear, duel wielding and spammed heroic strike as I hit the robot's repair function whenever it light up. I also kept up Thunderclap and Demoralizing Shout to help keep the robot up.

Killed the Negatron 2 times with the Scrap Reaver X6000 intact and alive at the end of the fight, yet did not get credit for it.

Only on the 3rd Negatron kill where the scrap reaver was intact and alive at the end did I get credit for it.

Just did this after 4th try as an honor-geared (battlegrounds) enhance shaman in TBC classic 2.5.1 with windfury totem, strength of earth totem, healing stream totem, and magma totem. Both elementals and heroism were on cooldown. I spammed stormstrike with shocks, and used the controlled golem's heal skill the entire time. Didn't get aggro somehow.

WORST QUEST in TBC.

Even if we didn't walk away, the ^&*!TY robot keeps despawning. We got him by kiting to Area 52, where he basically killed every bruiser.

Kite to town, best way to do it unless you have some 5-man group. Garbage quest!

Okay, I've just completed it solo with a frost mage (Level 70, few epics, a lot blue items and some green ones). Here is the small guide about what I've done and what I tried.

What didn't worked for me:
I tried to kite him to Area 52 like dozen times. Sometimes it was successful, but usually he killed me, because he is damn fast and can kill you instantly. But if you are lucky and kite him to Area 52, usually there is not enough guards in it to help. He killed all the guards and went on me... And I lost 13 gold on repairs.

What really helped:
Play quest as it supposed to be played. Use your robot to tank with it (you don't need real tank, because no one will be alive with few hits of the boss). It has three abilities. All of them share the same 10 second cooldown. 1st ability is "Smash" (https://tbc.wowhead.com/?spell=34618). It deals a large amount of instant damage and threat. You should use this as soon as possible to apply some aggro. After that you can start damaging the boss by yourself (threat meter addon will be really helpful!). 2nd ability is a two second stun, which is not useful at all, maybe in some awkward situations. 3rd last ability is a self-heal, named "Repair" (https://tbc.wowhead.com/?spell=34619). I used this ability almost every time to keep my robot alive and nuked all my CDs to beat it (don't use "Repair" when boss used the ability "Demolish" as it will decrease the amount of healing your robot receives). If your robot still has a lot of health you can use 1st ability to damage the boss. It will help.

Also, if you have some abilities, like the mage one (Ice Barrier), they will be really helpful. You can bubble yourself to keep yourself alive. Sometimes boss will run to you to hit and after that he returns to your robot. Damage is not insane, but he smashed me like 10 times during the fight and almost killed, I used Super Healing Potion (x1) and Ice Barrier on CD. If you have healer, it will be very easier. Another party members will be helpful, especially Range DPS, but not mandatory, you can solo if you do it right. I completed it on the 1st try when I stopped kiting it to town.

Also be sure not to walk or blink too far away from quest giver and your robot, or you'll lose control of your robot and boss will smash you. Hope this guide will help, as people don't really want to help each other nowadays.

BTW, I used InfinityX comment as a base, but got my thoughts and decisions through fight, because healing (on a robot) is more helpful than damaging if you're soloing it.

And ye, Water Elemental will not help. You can't summon it while you have your robot alive (they fixed the bug with robot replacement by your Elemental). And if you summon Elemental before fight, it will be replaced by robot.

Did it solo as geared enhance on 1st try.
Use Smash to keep aggro; pop cd, BL, Fire (not Earth Elemental) for dps. As Boss start AoE (Demolish) - stun him with 2nd ability, and after 8 sec (cd on all robot abilities) use Repair.
I think any DPS can do it easy if use robot's abilities right.

This quest is bugged beyond being able to complete. Some people said that if you stand too far from the consol when taking control of the robot, Negatron will come running up and you’ll have to fight him right then. I stood in several places, including on the robot and on the consol but Negatron came running every time. I can win with pet heal to help, but the quest will not complete. I can abandon and start over, same thing, or I can wait for the robot to respawn, take control again and fight Negatron all over again with the same result.

I did find that I could let the robot fight and run away successfully. I also found that I could start running before the fight starts, which despawns the robot too soon and allows Negatron to run into town and start a fight, which it then LOSES! LOLS.

Activate the Scrap Reaver X6000 Controller and test out its capabilities. Then give your feedback to Doctor Vomisa, Ph.T at the Proving Grounds in the Netherstorm. Deal with any problems that arise.
