Kill Dire Ravens < https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=21042 > to get 5 x Dire Pinfeather < https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=31517 > drops. Drop rate is high, so less than 10 kills needed.
Collect 5 x Grishnath Orb < https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=31495 >. These are near the Grishnath huts to the North East.
Combine (click) the Dire Pinfeathers and Grishnath Orb to get 5 x Exorcism Feather < https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=31518 >
Find a Raven's Wood Leafbeard < https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=21326 >. Get within range and click Exorcism Feather, this will spawn a Koi-Koi Spirit < https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=22226 >. Kill the Spirit (not Leafbeard) and the Leafbeard will turn friendly. Kill 5 x Koi-Kois. No XP and no loot from Koi-Koi kills.

Just for info, once you exorcise a Leafbeard, both the Koi-Koi spirit and the Leafbeard will attack so just nuke the Koi-Koi spirit as it will make the Leafbeard friendly and possibly failing to get the objective if you kill it

As a special bonus, once you complete this quest, the leafbeards and 67-elite Raven's Wood Stonebarks (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=21325) become non-aggressive to you.

If you're a lock - summon the Koi Koi, banish the Leafbeard, and all you have is the single non elite 67/68 to kill.... /flex ;)

As far as I can see, they are still aggressive. Both Stonebarks and the Leafbeards.

you'll find plenty of Grishnath orbs in the tree huts off the ground like at 39.16 for example. I found 2 orbs on each platform and there are usually no more then 2-3 birdmen about so with some care you can solo them all without pulling adds by accident.

If you are a hunter just do likes this: Use the feather on the Leafbeard, run back some and then fegin death and kill to Koi-Koi without the Leefbeard atking you :)

If you're on the part that you have to kill the spirits inside the trees , if you're a hunter , make the spirit come out . and pull it away some yards , after that make your pet attack the spirit and the tree you, then you do fegin deaht , and the tree runs back , and you can kill his evul sprit all the times , :)

Freeze trap (or any other CC) the trees, then use your exorcism feather. The spirit will pop outside the trap.

Just by habit, the first time I used the exorcism leaf on a Leafbeard, I walked backwards and kited far enough away that the Leafbeard reset yet the Koi-Koi was still attacking. I thought, "Oh, I'm not going to get credit for this." But alas! It worked all five times. Good times.

You can even use the exorcism leaf on the same Leafbeard this way.

Wery easy to get the orbs is wery easy as 70 Rogue.. Sap nearby Harbingers and take the orb and stealth.

That is awesome advice! I did exactly what you suggested of banishing the leafbeard after I'd used the exorcism feather on it, and it was a piece of cake to do this. Only had to fight the one mob instead of two.

another good tip for the hunters, once you "exorcise" the tree and the spirit appears, have your pet sick the spirit, then feign death. the tree will run away and you can nuke the spirit. i got all 5 of my exorcisms on the same tree.

Not sure if this is a good use of time... rewards are crappy, the mobs in the birdtown have a huge agro range, there are no follow up quests that I am could do, and as stated many times before the corpse walk is atrocious. I'd recommend skipping it and coming back only of you are desperate for the xp.

Orbs are a purple sphere on a pedestal/stick that has 3 small green fires around it. THe orbs are next to buildings in the village. You must kill mobs to get close to them.

Around where Treebole patrols, Kill the Dire Ravens for the Dire Pinfeathers. Once you've collected five, move north to Grishnath. The orbs are scattered around the Veil and look like staves stuck in the ground.

I don't know about anyone else, but this is the worst mob I have encountered in W.o.W. I'm &*!@ing sick of the ten birds that gank you at once and then the graveyard is miles away. -.- Blizz needs to fix this, seriously. P.s. Their screetching sounds are annoying as hell as well.

Don't use the Exorcism Feather on the Raven's Wood Leafbeard until you have it down to 5% health as Koi-koi spirit will appear.

Don't listen to the guy saying wait until 5% to use the feather, unless you like killing more things than you have to for no reason.

Just use the feather as soon as you get close, and kill the spirit.

When the spirit is dead, the tree becomes friendly.

Quest was quite easy. I'm a 70 holy priest, so if I can do it, anyone can do it.

Get the orbs from the buildings around Grishnath. Some are inside, some are outside. I found 2 or 3 on each level of the treehouses, as well. You have to kill some mobs to get to them, so be ready.

Get the feathers from the Dire Ravens farther south in Raven's Wood. I didn't get the 100% drop rate that one person described. More like 60%, but still not bad.

Then combine the orbs/pinfeathers by right-clicking on either one. They'll combine to make Exorcism Feathers.

Then target a Raven's Wood Leafbeard and use an Exorcism Feather. A koi koi spirit will appear and both the Leafbeard and the spirit will attack you. Ignore the Leafbeard and kill the koi koi as quickly as possible. Once it's dead, the Leafbeard will stop attacking you.

Repeat x5, then turn in.

Watch out - there's an elite Stonebark wandering around. He looks like the Leafbeards, but a bit larger. The feathers don't work on him, and he hits hard.

thezorg is exactly right. hunters can also freeze the big guy while killing the koi-koi spirit. it'll be a big assed frozen dude too =P

Just banish the Leafbeard and then use the feather, then the elemental wont hurt you and just the Koi Koi comes after you.

After finishing this quest all leafbeards and stonebarks turned permanently non-aggressive to me, just fyi.

Easily soloed as a 68 rogue. Sapped some of the Arrakoa and snagged the orbs pretty quick. I was 5/6 for feathers, really good drop rate. Then stealthed to the Leafbeard, used the exorcism feather and attacked the Koi Koi... I didn't even bother touching the Leafbeards since they become non-hostile when the Koi Koi dies. Did need a bandaid after a some of the fights though. ;)

CCing the trees after you use an exorcism feather makes this quest EXTREMELY easy, the koi-koi's do hardly any damage at all.

Dire Pinfeaters drops from yellow birds (Dire Raven) around. For me drop rate was 5/5 (100%). Once you have 5 Dire Pinfeaters and 5 Grishnath Orbs just mix them and you will have 5 Exorcism Feathers. Move close enough to the red tree Raven's Wood Leafbeard and use the Exorcism Feather on it. The tree will "spawn" more 1 mob Koi-Koi Spirit. Just kill this spirit and the tree will become green. You can AoE them both, just focus on the spirit. Dont let the tree die.
Do that 5 times and you have the quest complete :)

You can actually use the feather right away, just take out the Koi-Koi spirit first and you dont even have to fight the Leafbeard, he will be beating you the whole time but its not a problem. I did this quest solo as a 67 priest.

Quest was quite easy for me (70 hunter), but i was just crappy unlucky,, Completet
the quest but when i summoned flying mount the idiot dragon attacked me,, so insane, feign death had no use. Didnt bother to walk.

Really easy quest and good rewards/exp, its simplier then it sounds.

Good strategy I've found as a hunter. Once you've used the feather on the tree, move away from where it was patrolling and then feign death. The tree will walk back to where it was hanging out and you'll only have to deal with the spirit.

Edit: You can also use the same tree over and over again and still get credit for exorcising the spirit.

can someone answer me something.

After i finished this quest today on my lvl 70 horde druid, the various raven wood elementals in the area changed reputation with me and are now neutral. Which is cool I suppose. However I noticed on my other lvl 70 alliance druid whom I know for a fact also completed this quest (many months ago when the expansion first came out) is still hated by the raven tree elementals.

I know I completed the quest, cause this in one of those quests you don't easily forget. Besides I double checked. I've definately completed the quest. So did blizzard recently add a reputation change with this quest, and if so why now? It makes no sense.

an interesting side note. I discovered the small tree elementals do almost no damage whatsoever and make great mobs to up your skill levels with. Easy to do when the level 70 elite tree patrols are neutral to you.

Collect 5 Grishnath Orbs and 5 Dire Pinfeathers and then combine them into Exorcism Feathers. Use these feathers to exorcise and slay 5 Koi-Koi Spirits from the Raven's Wood Leafbeards. Once you've done this, return to Treebole in the Raven's Wood of the Blade's Edge Mountains.

The Grishna have caused the leafbeards and stonebarks to be inhabited by evil koi-koi spirits.

We must save the trees or soon all of the Raven's Wood will be lost forever!

Combine the magic of a Grishnath orb, found throughout Grishnath, with a dire pinfeather from a dire raven.

Use the resultant exorcism feather to draw out and slay the koi-koi spirit as quickly as possible. The stonebarks are too powerful for this ritual, but if enough leafbeards are saved, they will be freed as well.
