Remember that it doesnt matter if the mob is near the totem or not. It only matters if you are in it and have the aura effect. I wasted a few kills because i didnt realize that.

I am wondering if you can do this quest after you become neutral with netherwing. I can't attack the drakes. They come up as invaild targets.

You don't get the spirit if your pet gets the killing blow, turn it off when the drake's health gets low to make sure you kill it. Also, if you run out of totems go back and talk to the quest giver and he will give you 5 more.

Just want to add, that if you are in a group, make sure everyone drops their own totems, so far iv noticed that you wont get any drops if you are useing another persons totem. You must drop your own!

G'day

I found that attacking one and getting it to 90% death then starting the totem lets you kill 2 per totem. This was you can use a single totem and get 2 spirits. Saves a trip back to grab extra totems.

I was able to do this quest with 2 totems to spare, just drop a totem around 3 dragons. The totem lasts long enough to kill 2-3 at a time.

These mobs are highly resistant to arcane damage, but my nature spells worked fine.

You need to be pretty close to the totems. You should notice a totem "buff" when you're close enough.

You can't do this quest if you are netural with the Netherwing. I tried and I couldn't even target the Lesser Nether Drakes. I was able to kill the Brood Mother but that was it. Guess I should have quested here earlier.

at 63,78 and 67,76 you can drop your trap and get 4 each time. just watch out for the pathing dreadwing (if you haven't already killed her).

Mobs are heavily resistant to most schools of magic, so hope you brought some spell penetration and +hit gear with you.

I'm out of totems.. Couldn't the guy give me more in the first place? Couldn't the drop rate be 100%?
No, no.. you have to make 30129381 trips just so you can finish one quest.

Hunter is class with pet. I am a Hunter -68 lev. 0/25/34
At this Quest you must use pet only in begining of attack and made final shot or hit by yours hands.
For hunter this quest is real waste of time without second player.
Beware not only Dreadwing but 2 elite mobs which are patrol nearest areas. Summary: killed 30 dragons - 8 totems.

Pull as many mobs as you think you can handle.
Drop a totem.
Kill the mobs.
Loot.

The vicinity of 61,76 is where the Singing Ridge is. At level 67 I managed to run almost the whole length without pulling anything other than the mobs I wanted. Dropped a totem (which lasts an infinite period of time btw and you have 5 of the totems so you can move from one spot to another after killing a couple) and then when the mob was close to dying I put my FelG on passive to ensure I landed the final blow.

The Brood Mother is Dreadwing, much larger drake that wanders but is often to be found curled up in one corner and can be passed over as a dead mob. Immune to my shadow magic but not to fire.

Pretty certain Larv was referring to the tons of mobs you have to go through to get there, not the few once you were there.

You have to kill the nether drake, if your pet gets the final blow you get no credit. Turn him off at around 1k.

Non-DPS classes'd probably have an irritating time with this. I did it as a 67 marksman spec hunter & I only got the 8th essence in the final seconds of the fifth totem. Thankfully, you can get more totems - as I discovered when I went back to hand it in - but slower killers will probably need a couple of trips to restock.

- You can only collect drake essence if the totem is active & in-range when the drake dies *AND* when you try and pick up the essence. On my first group of three I killed the final one, clicked to loot, saw the essence, then the totem died & couldn't collect the essence. To make it even more irritating, I couldn't skin the kill either cos it still registered having uncollected loot on it.

- In my experience it's 100% droprate if you land the killing blow, and 50% droprate if you don't (not a good sample set though). Forgot to stick my pet on passive & haul him off for two of them - one didn't drop, the other *did* drop. BTW I know I didn't land the killing blow on the 2nd because I have Rapid Killing - it only activates if I land the killing blow & it didn't activate. Go figure... maybe bliz have tweaked the quest recently.

- You can attack a drake, drop the totem just before it dies & collect the essence. They seem to hang around in groups of three, so I suggest you attack the first, position yourself as close to the others as feasible & drop the totem when it's below ~20% health (when you need to drop it kinda depends on how much you crit for).

All in all, it's kinda irritating getting everything set up just right.

Oh, and I suggest you kill the broodmother first... otherwise you're likely to have her rock up halfway through one of your timed killing sprees. I didn't & ended up having to kill three drakes & mum on the last totem.. which was cutting it a bit fine =)

To get to these u have to run through a million other mobs or fight them all. O, Well, if it has to be done. My contribution to this post is the dreadwings, stay away from them. They seem to be immune to all of my spells cast. Even though they were only lvl 68, i died, and cause hardly any noticeable dmg to him. the rest were easy to take. just make sure he lesser drakes die Very close to ur totem.

Here are my easy, step-by-step instructions on how to do this quest properly.

1.) Go to coords 64,77 (type in /mntloc 64,77) (Or go to the Singing Ridge)
2.) Look for Lesser Nether Drake mobs
3.) Plant one of your Spirit Calling Totems and stay next to it.
4.) Make sure you get a buff called "Spirit Calling" . This buff will go away if you stray too far from the totem.
5.) Kill as many Lesser Nether Drakes as you can while you have the "Spirit Calling" buff activated.
6.) Loot the corpse to get a "Lesser Nether Drake Spirit"

1q.) Waaaah! I cannot get any Lesser Nether Drakes Spirit"
1a.) You need to be standing next to the totem you planted as you make the kill. When you stand near the totem you will get a buff called "Spirit Calling". DO NOT KILL THE LESSER NETHER DRAKES WITHOUT THIS BUFF ACTIVATED, OTHERWISE YOU WILL NOT GET CREDIT!

Suppose you have already done the quest chain for netherwing rep... Do you lose it for killing these lesser drakes? They're part of netherwing...

the drakes were resisting my spells and my voidwalkers at lvl 69 +suppression talent at three.....I can see casters having trouble with these mobs....cake at 69.....they do have good resists though, also, place totems in spots near at least 2 mobs, clear as needed

I (68 rogue) got helped by a 70 warlock for my last 4 spirits. I'm pretty sure he landed all the killing blows, or at least 2 of them, and all of the drakes dropped the spirits. So it's probably just with pets :/

MOb bugged out for the last one.
I put my last totem down, kill one on it, pull the other one tehre, and i dunno if its just hunters that get this. Your pet will bite it from like 40 yards away, it doesnt show the mobs correct health, but just full health,and you just have to nuke and wait for you to be out of combat, and the pet will stand at A. You will stand at A and pull the mob who is at B. The mob will stay at B, you will still be at A, and you'll be meleeing, with your pet beside you, meleeing the mob who is 40 yards away. Needless to say, no loot for me, restart q i guess.. :(

Hmm.... As larveyza saids... Milions of mobs? i could pull the drakes and kill 8 of them with 3totems withouth any outher mobs. I can stealth but u can altso run true them. There is not alot of mobs...

I dont know what the deal is with this quest, but the drakes are neutral to me, I think because I did the quest in shadowmoon giving me nether drake faction that I cant do this quest anymore, unless I wanna ruin the faction that took me so long to get, which is so thanks. My suggestion to u is to do this quest first before u start doing the shadowmoon quest beginning with Mordenai, that gives u nether drake faction.

if you can not attack the dragon mobs: Press U > netherwing > rightclick and press ´At War´.
You can now attack the mobs.

These drakes have REALLY high spell resistance. So as a mage, if you think you're gonna group them up and AOE them down, you're gonna have a bad time.

Totems last for two minutes. drop it in a good spot, drag pull them one at a time back. You're gonna see a lot of "resist resist resist" and also diminished dps

Descrizione

The spirits of the nether drakes in the Singing Ridge are in need of liberation.

The nether drakes were not always nether drakes. They used to be black drakes.

But then, with the destruction of this world, a wave of nether energy washed over everything and had the side-effect of changing the drakeling eggs.

Now they are all twisted versions of their former selves. We must help them to find peace.

Do this by slaying a drake near to the spirit calling totem, and then take its spirit from it.
