The Scourage Champions can be found in the area directly north of Light Hope's Chapel. There's about a 50% chance to turn one of the skulls they drop into a Resonating Skull that you need.

I can confirm that, took me 11 kills to get 5 resonating skulls. Appeal this was fixed with the last patch, good for me, went to noxious glade and found a rich thorium vein, would have missed it otherwise.

When I did this, I barely found any scourge champions at either area. This is because they share spawn points with the singers and stitches/golems. If you're not finding any, just kill the undead you see in those areas and wait for respawns.

As of December 14th, they seem to have fixed the bug i clicked the skull once and it disappeared.

I did this quest killed approx 20 scourge things got about 8 skulls in total and got 0 of the quest item 'resonating skull'
This seems to be because as soon as i got the item from the corpse i used the crystal on it.

When I then got 9 of these items piled in my inventory I could then use the crystal on them and got 6 resonating skulls and a few pile of bone dust. As if the more you have in your inv the higher the probability each will produce a skull.

Handed in the quest still have 1 resonating skull and 10x piles of bone dust.

Not sure if I have to keep this dust/skull as i can't sell it and am running out of bank/bag space.

Curse all you ppl that did this when there was still a bug!

The skulls drop fairly quickly. But when I use the crystal I am getting around about 10% chance they'll be resonating skulls and not bone dust. The respawn rate is terrible as well. I don't know whether there is a shared respawn point, but I am having difficulty finding more Scourge Champions.

Note that if your inventory is full, and you use the Mystic Crystal on a Fetid Skull, you won't receive anything.

USEFUL: there is also a place in the west where there are 2 or so of them. My suggestion is you go from place to place and kill them.

Takes time, but it gets it done.

also, there is another champion at the mill place, up the path to that Scourge place.

After 9 Fetid Skulls finally got 1 resonating skull. 100% drop rate from champions, just seems the chance of getting a resonating skull is awful. Alot of Chapions around 76,50.

Also had 6 Retid skulls at one point and still only got bone dust. So yes the chance is completely at random.

The full quest chain for The Battle of Darrowshire:

Villains and Heroes do both need to be completed in order to get Marauders. However, Defenders of Darrowshire (the Uncle Carlin chain) does not need to be completed in order to get to The Battle of Darrowshire.

soloed in about 30 Mins as 58 Priest with no problems at all, spawns are a distant apart, have to wait about 10 mins for respawn if no champions left. (76 53)

killed 10 ,skull off every kill. 5 turned to bone dust, 5 resonating skull.

Solo'd with 58 Warrior.

For the people who want to know 'where are these at' , the Champions are in Noxious & Fungal Glade like the quest says. They are scarce so you'll have to wait on respawn once or twice. Just GO THERE! You can't miss them.

The fetid skulls drop almost every time, use the mystic crystal that Carlin Redpath gave you to covert to resonating skulls. They turn to dust about 50% of the time.

Sometimes I think people do more reading on here than just reading the quest they are handed in the game.

a simple trick is make a macro or just type in /target scourge champion if there is one nearby it will target that mob and you can then just look around for the red mob heading.

I found good conditions just north of LHC, once I realized that everything you kill can come back as a champion. So if you clear-cut from the mill up the hill you should have lots of champions to choose from when you go back to the mill. The diseased ghouls will give you a disease of course. Unfortunately this leads to a quest that takes a raid to complete but...

Head due north from flight path in EPL, Light Hope Chapel.

Create a macro: /target Scourge Champion, and go for the highlighted mob.

Kill the Scourge Champion, loot the Fetid Skull and press the Mystic Crystal, provided by questgiver.

The Fetid Skull then turns in to either Bone Dust (trash) or Resonating Skull. Do this till you have them all.

For every 5 Fetid Skulls I got 3 Resonating Skull and 2 Bone Dust...

The path north leading up to The Noxius Glade is the place most likely to encounter Scourge Champions..

As mentioned above Scourge Champion, Death Singer, Dread Weave and Diseased Flayer all seem to be on the same spawn table. So kill them all and wait for respawn.

Stay away from Diseased Flayers if your melee. Naste 10min curse of -10% to hit.. yuk!...

Alrighty...my experience on the Quest-

Im a 57 Shadow Priest (Alliance), and i found this very easy to solo. As soon as I hit the mill (Located at 77,52, Just northish from the Lights Hope Chapel), there was only one Champion. I killed him, he dropped his skull, (I didnt use the Mystic Crystal on it yet, thought I would wait for more).

I cleared the mobs, which have a decent spawn time, only around 3-5 minutes. About 2 times out of 5, a Champion spawned. Everyone dropped a skull for me, after i had 4 I started to us the Crysal. Bam- 4 resonating skulls.

I killed around 4 more after that, all dropped skulls, they turned into Dust this time, but the 5'th one gave me my last skull.

To clear up the questions about the Bone Dust, it is probably white because it's considered a crafted item. There are no known uses for it, except to put it up in the AH and hope someone's stupid enough to bid on it.

6600 EXP at lvl 57, 100 Argent Dawn Rep.

while it may be a follow up from heroes of darrowshire it infact starts in winterspring or WPL 1from the ghost in sorrow hill (pamela's mum)
or from AD person in everlook (pamela's sister) they want u 2 find pamela shes in Darrowshire its bout middle of the very bottom of the map and then u hav to make her doll all the bits of it are found in darrowshire look the quest up great tips then u gotta find her uncle or somthin i forget, somewhere u hav to visit chromie (just look up the quests she gives u FFS its that simple they hav good tips)

If your inventory is full after you pick up a Fetid Skull, DO NOT
USE THE MYSTIC CRYSTAL or you'll lose the Fetid Skull!

This one drove me nuts. I had 2 Fetid Skulls just disappear on me when I tried to convert them to a Resonating Skull.

I already had 2 Resonating Skulls in a stack in my inventory and when my 3rd Fetid Skull dropped, I had only 1 free slot in my inventory which was filled by the Fetid Skull. When I used the Mystic Crystal, instead of adding it to my stack of Resonating Skulls, or even simply replacing the Fetid Skull in my inventory with the converted Resonating Skull (like every other similar circumstance in the game), I got an "Inventory is Full" warning and the new Fetid/Resonating skull vanished without a trace!

I couldn't believe it until it happened the second time.

I can verify that the quest IS bugged in a good way, the previous poster was correct, get one skull, click the crystal repeatedly and you'll get an unlimited amount of resonant skulls and bone dust,

LOL THERE IS A HUGE BUG FOR THIS!

- All you need is ONE skull.

- Then just keep clicking the crystal until you get 5! EASY!

This quest is definitely bugged.

Find one Champion and kill it -- they are near the Fungal Vale, at 33,66. If you don't have coords, Northwest of Crown Guard Tower.

Kill one pick up it's Fetid Skull ... I targeted the corpse, don't know if that helps -- and used the Crystal over and over. Very easy.

Piece of cake! About 3 min! I headed the east cordinates, when lvl60 skeleten warrior attacked me. It droped FETID SKULL, used the cristal over this and quest done!

you don't need to kill a lot of guys. Just find one fetid skull, and keep using the crystal on it. iT doesn't go away, and even when bone dust occurs, you just keep doing it until you get 5. It's bugged, at least it was for me.

very easy quest had it done if less then 15 min.
when you use the crystal it sometimes gives u bone dust just use the crystal a couple of times it will make the skull resonate
killed only 5 guys by browman mill got all five skulls

Obviously, this is a glitch, but if it works for someone else too great. I picked up 1 (one) skull. I kept pressing the crystal and the skull never disappeared, and I was able to get all 5 off the 1 (one) skull. Good luck!

OK! you dont need 5 skulls!
It's enough if you get one skull and just spam the Crystal on it until you get all five Resonating Skulls, it's a bug in the quest btw.

Go to Fungal Glade, at the entrance around 33,63 in Eastern Plaguelands there is one champion, pretty alone to take it without pulling any other mob. Kill this champion and get his skull by looting him. Then open your inventory and right click on the Magic Crystal that the quest giver gaves you, spam right clicking until you get the 5 Resonating Skulls.

The champions are around lvl 59.

All you need to do is this. Get a scourge champion in your sights, kill him. Grab the skull.. now wave the crystal over and over again until you have 5 skulls! Easy peasy.

Yes this quest is still bugged. You only need one skull and the crystal from the quest giver. I went to Browman Mill which is just north of Light's Chapel. I ran into the mill and there was a lonely champion. I looted the fetid skull and clicked the crystal. The skull never disappeared in my inventory. So After 19 dusts, I ended up with 5 skulls. LOL Easiest quest ever

Killed one that was close to Light's Hope Chapel and it dropped a skull. I used the crystal and noticed the skull didn't disappear from inventory. 5 clicks later I had finished the quest,.... at level 54 :D

I don't know if i was doing it wrong or if the bug was fixed, because the skulls disappeared after each use of the crystal. I was also doing this with full bags and it used up the skull and said inventory is full, even though I had one and they stack. I accidentally destroyed two skulls that way, so watch out for a full inventory doing this.

yehhh, i just got done with the quest as a 55 fire mage.

its really soloable, and all you have to do is go to the mill, and fight the champions, and if there arent any champions, just fight the other enemies, so they can respawn as the champions and you can continue..

this quest too me about 15 minutes max, very easy quest:]

Killed 13 of them.
8 Bone dust
5 Resonating Skulls

So stick with it, it takes a while, but if you go ahead and kill the other mobs while you wait, you will also get Rune cloth (I got 37 of them) and Essence of undeath. Plus good xps for the kills.

Quest reward was 9550xp for my level 61 priest.

But the next part you turn into Chromie gives you 4750xp. And leads to one more step to free Captain Redpath. So don't give up this quest, it's worth it in the end.

I did this tonight and between me and my friend we probably got around 15 invader stones. You probably had a bad run of luck. Or I was just very lucky.

The champion spawn rate isn't too bad as of today, but the entire area is swarming with both Alliance and Horde killing everything in sight as if there was no tomorrow. It seemed like every spawn point had about a 25% chance of being a champion. Every champion dropped a skull, from which I gathered 9 bone dust with my 5 resonating skulls. I think the quest wouldn't be too bad as long as you went to Browman's Mill during a less populated time.

The mobs at Browman Mill share spawn points so if there aren't any champions, you have to kill some mobs and hope that champions pop up to replace the dead ones. I finished this in 15 minutes.

Just completed this quest on my Draenei Hunter (Daggerspine) after ONE kill.

After receiving the skull from the first kill, I was able to use the gem on it as many times as I wanted - I ended up with around 40 resonating skulls, and 60 dust from one skull.

I dutifully reported it, so get it while its good!

This is a very annoying quest. I went just north of the quest area and found 4 various types of enemies. We have the champions which of course being the quest mobs have to be uncommon. The other 3 we get to deal with are the annoying disease emitting ghouls, the annoying fear banshees, and the overly easy to kill caster ghosts.

I have killed at this point 15 of the champions. I have 4 of 5 quest items and the rest of bone dust. That in itself isn't so bad. Its the fact you have to constantly kill these annoying trash mobs to TRY and spawn the ones you actually need. I have cleared the base of the hill twice now and killed a good chunk on top of the hill as well. Probably have killed about 30 junk mobs. Also as I said before the other types of mobs you have to kill are rather annoying with the fear and random debuffs to make your chance to hit alot less.

At least these are a good source of runecloth. If this wasn't a continuation quest I would have said F*** it a long time ago.

I think there was one thing that actually took longer than this quest to accomplish.

The crystal is still bugged...all you need is the first Fetid Skull from a Scourge Champion, and you can sit and make as many resonating skulls as you want (note, you cannot sell or trade the resonating skulls).

As a byproduct, and I am not sure why, the crystal will also make Bone Dust...so just keep clicking it. (problem is, Bone Dust is not good for anything)

This quest is one of the easiest ones i know of. Because of the bug all you have to do is walk north of Lights Hope Chapel kill a Champion and when you get the skull just keep on clicking on the Mystic Chrystal untill you get all five of the quest items! took me 2 minutes.

While all the champions I killed dropped a skull, it was dead even for resonating skulls. Five dusted, the tenth gave me my fifth resonating.

Like the other guy said, this quest is crap. The champs spawn randomly so you have to keep killing all the spawns. And then the rate which you actually get the good skulls is like 35%. Very Annoying!

I don't know if I was just immensely lucky or if they fixed the drop rate on the skulls but this quest took me literally 10 minutes to complete as a 60 hunter....every single champion I killed dropped a skull at Browman Mill.

yeah kill em since they share pops on the incline across from the barn at browman mill. i was so sure this quest was broken, i literally got 10 pieces of bone dust before i got a single resonating skull. then i got 2 in a row, and then one a few kills later. but with the wait time between champ pops and the <20% turn over rate, this quest has taken me a considerable amount of time. im now at 13 bone dusts and 3 resonating skulls and currently farming for the next champ pop.

Be prepared to hate yourself. This quest has four layers of f*ck you in it.

First layer ~ The Mob you need.

You need Scourge Champions. They share a spawn with Dread Weavers, Diseased Flayers, and a Banshee-type mob that fears you every 15-20 seconds or so into EVERY OTHER THING AROUND YOU. So right off the bat you've got a 25% RNG on the mob you need being up.

Second layer ~ The first "item" you need.

Maybe my luck is just !@#$, but in WoW Classic I'm only getting the skulls -maybe- every other kill, so there is an additional 50% RNG, bringing the total down to roughly 12.5%.

Third Layer ~ The -actual- item you need.

Clicking the quest item turns the first "item" into the real item you need, only it doesn't, like, ever. In the 10-15 skulls I've collected, I've gotten a whopping total of ZERO resonating skulls. I don't know what the actual drop rate is SUPPOSED to be, but it sure as hell isn't 50%. Maybe 10%, and my luck is just really bad. If that is the case, that brings the overall rate of acquisition to about 1.25%.

Fourth Layer ~ You need 5 of these damned things.

With a realistic rate of about 1%, if your luck is anything like mine, you're gonna need to kill alot of these mobs. Like 500+ just to get the mobs you need, to drop the precursor items you need, to get the real item you need, five times.

I don't remember it being like this in vanilla, but my god in Classic this is brutal.

Terrible quest because of low respawn and low drop rate from Mystic Crystal. Got many unuseful Bone Dusts... I believe around 20.
Best place to find Scourge Champions is the Noxious Glade (80, 40).
The zone is heavily camped, but you can grind your way to friendly with Argent Dawn here.
Be patient and good luck!

Unlike what other people on here are saying, the spawn rate isn't low per se.
The issue is that is shares a spawn with 3 other creatures: Dread Weavers, Death Singers and Diseased Flayers.
Best I way I found to do this quest is to go to the Browman Mill around 76,51.
Clear out all the undead creatures mentioned above including the Champions you need.
Then make your way up the hill to the Noxious Glade and do the same.
Make you way back down to the mill, rinse and repeat.
Eventually the champions you need will spawn and you'll be finished.

Just did this quest with a 60 mage. Easily doable solo. Took me around 30 minutes.

The one specific type of mob spawns at the same place as 4 other types, so just kill everything you see in the 2 areas mentioned above or in questie.

Use the crystal on the dropped skulls, gathering 5 of the final items is rather easy. The annoying part is waiting for those specific mobs to spawn.

I farmed this quest at The Noxious Glade just north of Light's Hope Chapel.

The mobs you want, Scourge Champion, share a spawn with Dread Weavers, Death Singers and Diseased Flayers. The conversion rate of the item is not very good, so consider killing all of these as you also search for the Scourge Champions.

Personally it toook me a total of 14 Scourge Champion kills to finish this quest. So close to a 33% conversion rate of Fetid Skull -> Resonating Skull

Chromie said the relics you gathered are reagents to a powerful spell, and one more is required: skulls from the scourge who took part in the battle of Darrowshire.

Take this crystal and hunt scourge champions for their skulls. The crystal is enchanted; if a champion took part in the battle, then when you pass the crystal over its skull it will resonate. Bring me those resonating skulls.

Go, <name>. You'll find scourge champions in the Noxious Glade to the north and the Fungal Vale to the west.
