You can find his corpse at Lake Falathim, which lies to the west of Maestra's post (which is north of Astranaar, if you're unfamiliar with the area). His corpse is on the small island in the middle of this lake. Make sure to keep the journal he gives you.

Go to the island in Lake Falathim (in the hollow southwest of Maestra's Post). Talk to the corpse there (Teronis's Corpse). Look up "Teronis" if you can't find it.

20, 42 Is the corpse.
Bunch of level 20 murlocs running around and a Sprint type move so be carful for those lower levels doing this quest.

In order to find the 'corpse' of Teronis, follow the road west out of Astranaar. Follow it till you come to Maestra's Post. When you reach the building to the far western end of Maestra's Post, turn south and run along the mountains.

You'll reach a small lake - Lake Falathim. In the center of the lake, there's a small island, where the corpse is. In order to reach the island, you'll have to fight several murlocs if you're at the correct level for this quest.

Im guessing You cant finish the quest because you have done it already and on one of the following quests so check everyplace where the quest could start.

go to maestra's post and head west fallowing the mountain soon you will see a lake and thats it it is called lake falathim

if the quest had said NORTH I might have looked by Maestra's post, but it said WEST...I sure appreciate those who comment here. I could never get most of these quests done otherwise. btw I downloaded cosmos, reluctantly, and finally, but can't get it to work...so I'm no further ahead in that department. Thanks to all of those who don't use coordinates!
I did finally find the lake, it's not exactly on the beaten path, and I did finally kill enough murlocs to get the gem...probably 30 or so.

Finding the lake and the body was easy.... but finding the glowing stone took me some work.

Killed almost everything for the 2nd time before i got it from a lvl 20 puddlejumper walking with a warrior at 20,42.

Just to note. The gem is a random drop but I had to kill about 50 murlocs before I got it. I didn't drop the quest and pick it back up. I doubt that does anything. I just kept on killing the buggers and eventually it dropped (from a normal guy.. no boss or anything).

The body lay on the island at 20,42

First after looting the body you will get the next step of the quest witch is getting the gemstone. This gem is a random drop from a murloc.

First try, it attack me btw, killed a muckdweller and dropped the Gem. Coords are correct!

Hehe, I can count myself among those lucky enough to get it first go, purely because I'd been looking here and many of you pointed out that you got the gem from a puddlejumper murloc. I looked around, saw one fairly close to me, killed it and got the gem :P

No gem, and I'm lvl 21 now. Only thing I have noticed is a Saltspittle Warrior and puddlejumper circling the lake, these two seem grouped, no others appear to be teamed this way. Haven't killed the two together yet.

yes, the warrior had the gem.

this quest doesnt involve a "gem drop", that is next part of the quest. this part of quest simply requires you to talk to Teronis' Corpse at the little island in Lake Falathim and quest is done

AFTER YOU TALK TO THE BODY ON FAR LEFT THERE IS A WARRIOR AND SOMEONE ELSE WITH HIM SLAY THOSE 2 AND THE WARRIOR DOES NOT HAVE THE GEM .. THE OTHER GUY DOES.. TOOK ME ABOUT 30 SECONDS TO DO THIS AT LEVEL 22.. IT LEVELED ME UP TO 23.VERY EASY TO DO IF YOU HAVE CAT FORM AND CAN STEALTH.COULD EASILY HAVE DONE THIS AT A LOWER LEVEL. THIS QUEST HAS SEVERAL PARTS TO IT..

I talked to the body and went on to kill the murlocs.
i killed about 40 or 50 of them.
while i was doing this another group came in and got the gem on their first kill - extremely frustrating.
but got it after about the 50th one.
so stick at it!

Just kill the warriors and puddlejumpers, if you're lvl 19-20, and you'll be fine. The Oracles are tougher. The gem dropped after 5 kills...

Where the heck is the journal, I've searched the entire island and dont see it. Any help would be appreciated. :)

Just be sure to complete the quest "talking" to the corpse and you'll be ok to get the gem. It isn't a 100% drop, obviously, but it should drop within 5-10 warriors.

I did the entire quest line immediately after hitting l8 in order to obtain the mace for a twink weapon on my Pally. Following is the amount of XP you get from each quest, I hit lvl 19 handing in the very last part but I also did part 1 of "Researching the Corruption" about half way through, so, one should be able to get through this entire line and complete it JUST before hitting 19 as long as you don't have to kill all the mobs yourself. Obviously killing them will get you a lot more XP, I had a lvl 63 lock run ahead of me (not in party) and clear a path to everywhere I had to go for this quest.

Part 2 (Return the Journal): 1250 xp
Part 3 (Speak to Shael'dryn): 825 xp

I got the gem on the first try from the Saltspittle in the water beside the body.

With my 22 Elf Rogue I did this in 3 critters- Killed one on the way to the island to pick up the journal. Killed an oracle in the water next- no drop. Headed to the shore to the right of the body (if you're facing the body) and killed a warrior in the weeds and got the drop. So I guess that was only two kills if you want to get technical about it. Must search the body first!

This quest chain will give you Dartol's Rod of Transformation which is basically a toy item that you can keep forever unless you continue with the quest chain.

It also gives Glacial Stone which is a lvl 19 BiS twink item, but you will lose the transformation rod by completing this quest chain.

<name>, a longtime friend of mine is also aiding the Sentinels here in Ashenvale, but he has yet to return.

He had leads on finding an item that he thought could slow the furbolg attacks on our people--a rod created by a now-dead, evil wizard.

Before he left here, he mentioned seeking out a gem for the rod.

He mentioned the gem possibly being hidden at the shrine in Lake Falathim at the base of the mountain to the west. The gem was being held there before it was overrun.
