This is an instance, but not in the standard sense. The instance provides fast and direct travel between Stormwind, the Human capital, and Ironforge, the Dwarven/Gnomish capital. This travel is without cost or risk of attack by NPC creeps.

Takes around 1 minute to travel there. Much faster then a gryphon, and you can see amazing mobs. If your lucky you can see Nessy, a deeprun monster.

Deeprun mobs such as naga and nessy are located inside a underwater tank. Built by the gnomes. Gnomish Divers are also located their too. The flute quest is really fun. If your going to train your new weapon skill, kill the rats.

I've seen horde in the tram before, but I didn't know you could get in the tank. How?

If you happen to be a horde, feared thru the tram portal, don't fall off into the blue holes where buildings should be, its basically like falling off the sides of outland or netherstorm, theres no way to get back to your body, but you can see the tram while your dead so it makes it easier to attempt to look.

there is no map for the deeprun tram, if you open your map it shows a map of stormwind

Despite that Stormwind lies almost directly south of Ironforge, the tram track runs east - west on the mini-map. Furthermore, there are no bodies of water between the two cities even though the tram passes underwater.

Way back in beta the tram used to run in between IF and Darn, hence the water and the direction of it, but they were too lazy to change it lol.

I have seen dead mobs and players in the water.. just saw a undead mage in the water and i saw a dead naga and shark.. while going from SW to IF

I have discovered a new object to in the Deeprun Tram "ocean area"! Near the Naga Siren and the Deeprun driver there is a chest labeled "The Deeprun Chest". When i moused over it, it showed the little gizmo thing, indicating it could be opened. However, i have no idea how to get inside the tank, i wonder wut is inside. And since WoWhead has no record of it in its files, who knows what mysteries it hides........

This macro is now obsolete, and Blizzard has fixed that.

However, there are still two ways to get inside of the tank.

If you're horde rogue, Shadowstep the Deeprun Diver, which will put you inside the tank.
If you're alliance, have a horde friend fear you into the tank.

EDIT:That macro will also make you fall off the tram, which is very annoying so don't even bother trying.

for the Horde: if you happen to die in the Deeprun Tram, you have to do a corpserun from Elwynn Forest (83.69).

From what I have heard you can no longer get into the water via shadow stepping the Diver, you will instead get an error that the target is not in line of sight.

Deeprun tram is in the dwarven district in stormwind, goes to tinker town in ironforge and back.

The Deeprun Tram connects the Alliance cities of Ironforge and Stormwind.

In addition, it can be a useful way to get Horde players into Ironforge or Stormwind. If a Horde player is in the Deeprun Tram, they are NOT forced into PvP (unless they are on a PvP server)- though it is impossible for a Horde player to get there without being summoned or going through the city. So, a warlock and two friends could sneak into the Tram and walk down the tunnel (walk about two minutes down - the whole walk takes roughly 4-5 minutes) and find one of the multiple alcoves in the wall to set up a summoning portal. By doing this, you can summon players to the Tram without flagging them (unless, again, you are on a PvP server). In addition, the Deeprun Tram entrance in Stormwind is very close to the King. However, if a player riding the tram happens to see your raid group, they'll probably alert the city.

If you do summon to the tram, make sure you know which way each city is ;)

Ironforge and Stormwind are roughly north/south of each other, and there's no major body of water between them. Yet the tram, according to the minimap, runs due east/west. Also, it seems to either run through the ocean in the middle, or else the gnomes built a giant aquarium containing life-sized ship wrecks and sharks. What gives?

My brother was recently on WoW, and expiramenting with the hunter's eye's of the beast spell. While in the deeprun tram his moonstalker intantly appeared as if it was above the deep run tram! You could see The Loch, but it was all going so fast that we never managed to see nessy and take screen shoot of it. :( However, once he came to his sences he took a picture! We saved the picture, and now we have proof of the glitch.

P.S. Has this ever happened to anyone?

As far as I'm aware, it is now impossible to get outside the tank walls of the Deeprun Tram on the regular WoW servers. People who have done it were either on their own server that they made themselves, where they could use GM tools to warp themselves places, or used an exploit that was since fixed where you could hack your location, which was at that point client-side.

Both of these methods are against the EULA and I would not recommend seeking doing so, but that is also how people got to all the other seemingly impossible to get to places. These were seen in Exploration The Movie which was banned by blizzard from every site that had it (I believe).

First of all... its a closed instace. There is nothing over, under or around.. its just the tram and nothing else.

There is NO water in the tank wich means that you can "walk" in there.

The Basking Shark and the leper gnome is the only to npc's that you can kill in there (gnome is civilian so dont even think about it), the shars are protected by a evade area, so if you want to kill them, then you must meet them face2face in a melee combat.

The reason why your name appear when you hold your mouse over the middle of the world map is that this is not a "real" instnace.
You can enter deepruntram as a ghost and its therefore just another continent.

The deeprun chest is empty, when you click it, it opens and you dont even get a loot window.

UPDATE FOR PATCH 1.10
As i said earlier "there is no water in the tram".
This is not a fact anymore, after patch 1.10 water have been added to the tram and its therefore possible to swin in there, this has also fixed the evade bug that the sharks made when attacked.
(tho note that they cant swim more than just above the sea floor)

For an update:

Sharks, Rats and PVP targets are the only atackible targets in the tram.
You can kill the Deeprundriver (the little gnome with diving equipment), The Sharks (these tho have no loot).
Nessy and the Nagga is "Invalid Targets" and can thereforee not be killed.
The deeprun chest can be opned but it got no loot

Well, ive been trying a little more today. I saw the videos and got enthousiast. It didnt work for me though. I tried the macros as shown above, all it did was lagging my computer for a few seconds, depending on how often I pressed the macro button, and then when the lag stopped, I simply stood at the same place, nothing happened. I tried while "auto-running" towards the glass wall, from a distance, and while standing still, from one of the corners, and from somewhere in the middle. Im a hunter, I also tried several kind of ways using "Eyes of the Beast" with my pet, but he didnt get through either. (However, he did get through the wall to "Old Ironforge."

I guess they have fixed any kind of method for it.
Im still going there though, once I set my private server up again (which is not public, just for myself to play with). Like that its very easy to do ofcourse. At least after that I can say what the various mobs in there drop.

So far, the "secret or hidden" places in WoW I got to on the official servers, are:

-Old Ironforge (as said above)
-Top of Ironforge (On top of the mountain, not hard). And from there I also got easy access to:
-Ironforge Airport
-Wetlands Farm (move down southern part from the top of Ironforge)

I have a lot of screenshots of those locations, I might post them here later, if anyone wants to see them. I can also show a picture or video (if I would have good video capture software) of how to climb up the mountain in Ironforge to get to those 3 locations. Very easy once you know where to begin. Perhaps some videos are on Youtube already.

Well, thats it. I been to a lot more locations on my own private server:

-GM Island
-Programmer's Isle
-Developper's Playground
-Top of Blackrock Mountain (Yeah, the very top)

I've personally made it into the water as a fluke around the time of 2.0.3. (Pre-TBC.) Killed a shark and got a green ring!

What happened was my computer lagged out very suddenly and I ended up in the water. I didn't have any noggenfogger so I had to get out really fast, but I had time to kill a shark.

Later on I intentionally lagged myself with the aforementioned lag macro. About 1/4 of the time it would disconnect me, 1/4 of the time it would not do anything, 1/4 of the time I would fall through the world and 1/4 of the time I would end up in the tram.

There is water in there but it is very buggy. There are patches with no water and some patches where there's very patchy water.

I didn't really get to do too much there but it is a pretty cool place. Kinda sucks that TBC has ruined "special" exploration like this because with the way zones are designed there aren't any undeveloped or hidden areas that we aren't supposed to get to :(

I found an annoying glitch. I just stepped aboard the Tram and we just left, when suddenly one of the three carts shifted into mine. 3 seconds later my account got disconnected. I reconnected and got kicked out half a second later...This continued for about 3 minutes untill finally I managed to jump of in that half second before i got kicked.

Ok let me clear up as much as i can for you guys about this place
Yes, i have gone in here on a live server using hacks
The chest: You can right click on it and all it does is open then close again like when the diver uses it
The Basking Sharks: I've killed 5 or so of these, all that has dropped is a bunch of silver hooks and some rockscale cod.
The naga siren: does nothing, just swims around
Nessie: Awesome to look at but as with the Naga siren he also does nothing, wont attack you and you can't attack it
