A great, somewhat underrated instance. It has some of the most novel and unique boss fights I've ever participated in (Buru is a blast!), has loot that is better than the best Molten Core drops (Staff of the Ruins, anyone?), has plenty of class books for each class.

In addition, incase you're in a guild that is heavily geared and doing, say, only BWL and Naxxramas, doing book runs of AQ20 can get your guildbank the most amount of money in the shortest amount of time. Just get the books and sell them for plenty of cash - on my server, each book goes for roughly 750g, though the PVP-viable spells such as Frostbolt and whatnot goes for as high as 1000g.

And, since you're getting six books for a full run, that's almost a guaranteed 4500g every 3 days (though they can take some time to sell).

In regard to bosses in the instance, there are 6.

1. Kurinnaxx - he is mandatory to fight. The encounter is fairly easy, alternate tanks so his -healing debuff does not stack to 10, and avoid sand traps. Use slow DPS.

2. General Rajaxx - another mandatory fight. The Rajaxx encounter consists of many waves consisting of 1 miniboss, and vary amounts of flying and cleaving elites, and warrior like elites. DPS the miniboss down first, then kill the flying mobs, followed by the warriors. Use hunter traps, roots, and fears to keep the mobs you're not fighting away - these are the only forms of crowd control that work. Also keep the NPCs that are involved in the fight alive, they help a lot. When the general himself comes, let the head NPC tank him, focus heals on him. If you are above neutral with the Cenarion Circle he has an aura that heals you. Since Rajaxx does AoE damage, this is very nice. If you are not above neutral, make ample use of bandages.

3. Buru the Gorger - this is an OPTIONAL boss encounter, found by taking the left path coming from Kurinnaxx's room. The boss can be aggroed by hitting any of the eggs in his room. The only way to do substantial damage to the boss is by killing the eggs underneath him. Have whoever he is targetting kite him around (he is slow) until an egg is at ~10%. Stop DPS on the egg until buru is on top of it, then smash it open. Repeat until he is around 20% health. DPS him down so he has exactly 21% or 20% health, then do the final egg. After he is below 20% health he goes into a frenzy, doing heavy aoe damage. It is ESSENTIAL to DPS him down as fast as possible. Go all out DPS, spam the quickest heals you have. The damage can be negated by heavy NR though it is very possible without it.

4. Moam - this boss is optional and can be found by going to the right after Kurinnaxx's room. In the moam encounter you need to drain all of his mana - all priests, hunters, and warlocks should be using mana draining spells. If he reaches full mana he will explode. After 2 minutes, moam goes into stone form, and releases 3 mana elementals. These should be banished ASAP or killed (they cause heavy AoE damage and silence), and DPS should continue on moam (along with mana drain).

5. Ayamiss the Hunter - this boss is optional, and is found either after continuing down the hallway after Buru the Gorger, or in the room next to Ossirian the Unscarred. Ayamiss is a 2 stage fight. In stage 1, Ayamiss is air born, and only ranged DPS can hit him. It is recommended that either a hunter rotation using distracting shot, or a heavy NR geared mage tank him. He applies a DoT to the main aggro target, so your hunters will need to Feign Death when the DoT stacks too high and let aggro go to the second highest hunter. High NR allows you to resist the DoT. Meanwhile, all melee including paladins should be on the altar. Every so often a person will get chained to the altar, and a small yellow bug will try to run up to them. The melee are responsible for preventing this. If the bug reaches the person, an elite wasp spawns that is very hard to deal with and essentially wipes the raid. Stage 2 is the same as Stage 1, except Ayamiss is on the ground and should be tanked by a warrior. Continue killing bugs with both ranged and melee DPS.

6. Ossirian the Unscarred - This is the last and hardest boss of the instance. Ossirian is a very unique encounter in that you must use crystals found in his room to debuff him before you can damage him. If Ossirian is not debuffed, he will enter god-mode and one shot everyone. The fight should have 3 warriors all tanking Ossirian. Every so often he will but one in a whirlwind and go to the next warrior. HE CANNOT BE TAUNTED. These warriors are responsible for kiting him to each crystal. Another designated member of the raid should run ahead of the group, preferably mounted, and look for crystals. When he spots one, ping on the map and allow the warriors to recognize they know where to go next. When the warriors get to the crystal they can click it to apply the debuff. Try to follow a circular pattern. When he is debuffed he also becomes vulnerable to a certain spell type. For a while, ONLY DOTS SHOULD BE USED, since aggro is VERY sensitive. After he is at ~70% health direct damage can probably be used. You must have at least 2 warriors alive to complete the fight.

Rogues or druids, or any class with a soulstone, can, after Buru has been slain, enter the instance on their own (although you have to be in a raid group), and solo-farm the silicate feeders between Buru and Ayamiss. There is a safe-room with about eight of them along the side of the hallway, as well as multiple safe spots along the hall where more can be pulled to with a gun/moonfire, such as the doorway, bottom of the stairs, and the corner of Ayamiss's room. The larger mobs will not chain-aggro, but its good to save vanish as a rogue to avoid them if you get too close. This will also shed aggro from Ayamiss if you aggro him. Almost every silicate feeder can be pulled from somewhere.

When these mobs die, they release a poison cloud that does 300 damage per tick. They slow down as they near death, so if possibly its a good idea to back away and finish them with a range attack or a DoT, and slow them further with crippling poison.
These silicate feeders drop idols, scarabs, and greens and blues as often as the elite mobs in the instance do. Especially on new servers, the BoE instance-drop blues like Polished Obsidian Spaulders or Silithid Husk Launcher sell VERY well (up to 500g). I got, one time, three such rare drops in a period of about 4 hours of farming.

This is a great fun instance but not very easy. If it's loot you're after, there always seem to be great drops there. However I find often it's best to only do if you can run it entirely with a guild.

having started post-BC I've never been in here and good luck trying to find 19 others for a raid here :)
can a 70 Demo lock go in here and take out trashmobs for reputation by himself?

Did this last night with a 70 Healadin (moi), 70 Feral Tank, 70 Shadowpriest, 70, arms war and a BM Hunter.

We killed Kurinaxx and Rajaxx and it wasn't so much trouble, Rajaxx had a powerfull aoe stomp that gave a bit of a mana problem in the long run, but with Innervate and a pot ready it was easy doable.

We're gonna keep continueing another time, was way too late yesterday.

Recommend doing this to others, its real fun! Good way to experience old content!

An interesting little fact about this raid is that the boss with the highest amount of health is just around 650k, while Nightbane, a Karazhan boss, has around 950k health. With this being the case it is very much possible to do this instance with a group of 5 80s. I myself cant wait to try it out :).

At level 80, it is very simple for a Naxxramas Geared Protection Paladin to solo this raid.

I find that hard to believe due to the lvl 52 isnt alowed in. Required lvl is 60.

Wrong, its +50, Gate is opened by someone and you are in raid group

Don't know if I should complain about the ease with which we cleared this instance or not. We were a group of two lvl 80s - feral specced druid and shadow specced priest. We did Kurinnaxx, General Rajaxx, Moam and Ossirian the Unscarred. We had a problem killing Anubisath Guardians before last boss because their buff makes them deflect all shadow spells. Besides that everything was pretty much easy. It wasn't a timed run and we killed tons of thrash some of which we could have skipped considering that most of the time we were getting gray drops anyway and there was no reputation gain for me since I'm already exalted with Cenarion Circle. Bosses give 10 Brood of Nozdormu rep if I recall correctly.

We did invite two locks to help us with Ossirian and speed up Anubisath Guardian cleaning, but unfortunately both locks died before we were finished. Technically if you can clear Anubisath Guardian before the pull, Ossirian is killed pretty easy with a group of two. Even if he is buffed with 300% damage with proper healing it shouldn't be a problem at all.

I've run AQ20 3 or 4 times, and AQ40 twice, and they are still my favorite raids to date. I was over the moon when they brought Naxx into WotLK, but was disappointed they haven't done anything with AQ. AQ has some of the most spectacular architecture and scenery in this damn game, i really hope Blizz decide to do something with it further, it's a shame to see that go to waste.

The last boss, Ossirian the Unscarred, whenever i engage him, i get shivers down my spine as the sky turns red...

been starting doing aq20 solo as feral druid.
Anyway I'd say this is alot mroe money efficient compared to zg. a normal aq20 run gives around 300-350g + greens that I d/e on alt later on. Great fun and gives some CC rep if you still lack it
