the drop rate on the slicer blades isn't nearly high enough to mesh with the spawn rate on the mobs. Don't bother with this quest if you don't want to tear your hair out.

/agree with elsux0r... Terrible drop rate, This quest doesn't worth your time and gold. I completed all the quests in Hellfire and so far, thats the only one I didn't finish on Zangarmash.

I agree with the drop rate increase, roughly 20 killed near the count to get the 10 blades, not too bad at all.

Took me about 10 min to get all 10 blades, not bad for the exp and 6.8g. Look East of Sporggar for the most slicers.

Man... I was working on this a little last night while doing Ogres and mushrooms and other stacking-type quests and the drop rate still seemed horrible. I got 3 in about 20 kills in the "Count" area and east of the Spore-folk. Guess I'll keep trying.

Drop rate still awful, just like it was in beta. Not enough of them, too spread out, and add in Alliance just needs to kill them for their similar quest (they don't need these damn blades), makes for a very annoying quest.

Well i guess its really changed guys. The drop rate is changed to 79.1%. I went South of Zabra'jin, exactly at 32, 58. This Coordinates are Confirmed.
The quest is pretty easy and u can do it real fast.
Dont forget to kill "Count" Ungula at 33,59, you can loot an item that begins a quest named The Count of the Marshes i guess. Good luck. the quest is worthy to do.
Honestly, the last one took me like 10 mins to find it, but the whole other 9 i found them with 10mins

The last Marshfang Slicer blade took forever to get compared to the others, just unlucky i guess.

Very tedious quest, even if the rumors that the drop rate was increased are true. The Slicer mobs themseves aren't easy to find, as they're spread out and mixed in with other mobs, over a semi-large area:

Start the quest early, and kill EVERY Slicer you see while working on your other quests and/or passing by Zabra'jin, and you have a chance of finishing it before you finish with Zangarmarsh entirely. If you don't finish it -- just drop it and move on. There is no follow-up; you aren't missing anything. No use wasting an hour fishining off a single quest when there are so many more waiting in other areas.

And make sure you're killing Slicers and not Bloodthirsty Marshfangs! The mob has to be "Marshfang Slicer" exactly. Good luck.

I guess the drop rate varies… i had to kill a tonne of them before i actually got to 10. Must be just luck for the people that get 10 in 20 kills. Theres no way this quest s worth even tryin to do… if theres other people in the area doing the same quest or the ally version of it.

These guys are a rough fight. The drop rate for me is quite low..I had to kill about 10-12 before I got my first blade.

Also, if you don't have a lot of mana, these can be brutal, as their mana leech leeches almost 800 mana over 5 seconds.

It would be nice if Blizzard implemented a system where you're guaranteed to get a drop after x number of kills, because the variance observerd here is just ridiculous.
Myself I had to kill 43 to get my 10 blades.

i've gathered the 9 of the 10 Marshfang Slicer Blade fairly easy....and i got a little surprise for the end.....i've killed about 20 Marshfang Slicer and still haven't got the 10th Marshfang Slicer Blade :(

The "trick" is to actually read the quest description. The questgiver specifically says that it's the slicers South and West of town that have the right blades. You're getting bad drop rates because you're in the wrong place.

There aren't as many slicers southwest of town as there are to the southeast, yes, but the ones to the southeast DON'T DROP THE BLADES.

I gues that with the new 2.2.3 patch drop rate is increased, couse I killed 10 of them and they all droped the Q item. Drop rate was 100% for me, dunno, maybe I was just lucky :D Pretty easy Q too, couse i found both the Q mobs and Count Ungula near to Zabra'jin where Q giver is.

64 be ret paladin, here is what I did.

1. Judge the marshfang slicers with seal of wisdom
2. Cast seal of justice. This helps prevent their mana tap.
3. Don't mana tap right away, you can later but sometimes this didn't give me any mana.
4. Using Mana Tap or Hammer of Justice will stop their tap.

Make sure to kill Count Ungula (64 non elite) around 32,59 to gain his mandible which starts another quest.

75% drop rate for me, post 2.3 patch.

Priests, fear them around. Pretty annoying otherwise with their Drain Mana, Silence, and knockbacks. Dont get into a fight with 2 of them. :P

Near count "uguly" is the place to grind these, and I really mean that you have to grind cause the drop rate is ridicolous IMO. Killed about 200 or something for my drops ^^

Drop rate seems ok to me, half the problem is no condensed area of the mobs. Make sure you're not killing their cousins.

I rode from S of the Spawing Glen all the way to Feralfen village and back.

From my experience, these are only droped by the marshfang slicers, about 60-70% drop rate. I have not gotten a single one off any other marshfang type mobs (such as Bloodthirsty marshfang)so there is no point hoping for one to drop other then getting XP. Most of the silcers I found are in 39, 49 all around.

I may be wrong about other type of marshfang droping the slicer, but I killed so many none of them droped a single one.

Count is not 100% I got about 50% on him. But he is a better drop then the rest. CORD CONFIRM about 8 of these guys with good spawn rate.

If you find your waiting for them to spawn kill the guys beside them for rep.

Quest is worth it.

drop rate has definitly been modified since BC first came out. i did this on my first toon probbly 3 days after BC was released, gave up after almost 2 hours of grinding and only 3 blades... trying again on my next toon and i have 2 blades after killing 4 mobs. definitly an improvement, this quest is no longer a 'dont waste your time' quest

I had 100% drop rate of every slicer I killed today. Only one I didnt get a blade from was the count.

If you know how to play your class you can grind this faster than a shadow priest. You can go faster than almost anything besides a hunter/rogue/druid (pallies/mages/shamans/warlocks should take longer) unless u dont know what you're doing. I have a 52 shaman/65 holy/disc priest and they both went like a charm. Drop rate is rough but if you just do it a couple at a time while doing other quests (kill the slicers as you're in the area) then it's not so bad. Coords posted is one area they spawn in thicker than almost anywhere else in the marsh; however, i've seen them all over that area near the Cenarion Post. Anywhere from sporregar to the Twin Towers

While I never say this about grind quests.. wow this sucks =P I usually remind people of the Xp you get while grinding toward the reward xp but as a holy priest (who refuses to respec) this blows :P -- good luck

blah blah blah, so what the drop rate sucks on regular marshfang slicers,

it's 100% on "Count" Ungula at co-ords 33,60. He has a 5-10 minute spawn rate, so even worst case scenario this will take you 50 minutes! Thats going on the assumption that you dont get a single drop off regular slicers nearby while waiting on respawn.

Farming the blades this way is the best way to go since killing "Count" Ungula drops his mandible which starts quest "The Count of The Marshes" anyway! Considering this quest alone will get you 10,750 experience as a lvl 63, and all is required to complete it is to turn the mandible in to Leesa'oh at 23,66, how can you go wrong?

Plus if your real smart, 10 yards from the Count's spawn is an area full of Fungal Giants, so you can grind Sporregar rep while your waiting on the Count to respawn.

Sorry, but the Count does not have a 100% drop rate. I killed him 4 times within the span of this quest and he did not drop it a single time.

To complete this quest you need to bring 10 Marshfang Slicer Blade to Gambarinka at Zabra'jin.

Make your way to the northeast of Zabra'jin quest hub and search the area near the lake. Then continue moving to the south (you want to cross the road).
There are mobs all within the areas you can loot Marshfang Slicer Blade from - Marshfang Slicers - drop chance is medium.

The damp atmosphere of the marsh has taken a toll on my metal tools. It's made woodworking a lot more difficult than it ought to be, so I've given up on metal blades.

It turns out that the marshfang slicers living to the south and west of town grow blades that are sharper than any steel I've ever owned. They're also resistant to rust and wear. It's just a little tricky to attach them to a handle, but I think I've got it figured out. I'd appreciate any blades you could bring me.
