If you are in a party you can all collect the 4 runes required to destroy the portal, however, if someone disables the portal it counts toward your quest too which obviously makes it much faster :D

As a shadow priest, I found that killing the pet first is easier. Saved my mana from horrible burmination.

This is relatively easy as a arms warrior, just charge the handler and pop a sweeping strikes, then just use 2-3 cleaves and use whatever ability yo want to finish of the handler.

It takes four stones per portal to destroy them. You'll need to stand in the very middle of the portal (on the blue area) and right-click it.

kill the pats first, very important, they are easy to miss when fighting stationary mobs, and they are many.
also, when fighting fel hunters, kill the pets first if mana class.
they are a pain in the ass. major mana-burnination.

Solo'd this as a lvl 58 ret pally . Easy enough to kill the demons and get the stones around Xilus but when i got to Kruul i had some problems. There are alot more pats around Kruul than the other so u have to pay attention , they seem to come outa nowhere.

I'm currently a level 59 BM Hunter and I couldn't clear the mobs out fast enough even with a decent crossbow. As soon as I thought I had a clear path, I got multiple adds and simply died. I may have to wait until I get a couple of levels higher before I can do this. Trying to sneak past them and all that just simply did not work.

Not that hard as a 59 shammy, when fighting the handlers, just drop a stoneclaw as you kill the handler, then wipe the floor with pet. Mana Burn is easily stopped with a simple Earth Shock

You really want to look out for the "Fet Handler"'s and their "Netherhound"'s, they patrol both Ports, and there are many of them. Take extra care of the Netherhounds if you are a mana user, since their spell can remove more than half of your mana.

I've cleared the south portal with a 58 lock with no problem what so ever. It's just a matter of being patient and watching the patterns, then pulling the non-pet mobs out of the way of the other patrols.

I had a huge problem completing this quest, in fact I didn't. I killed the mobs to gain the runes, had 8 of them and tried to use the Primers to disable the portal, and nothing happend. Even though I stood in the middle of the portal nothing happend. Am I doing anything wrong?

Just did it as a 61 fury warrior. Very easy quest imo, could easily take down 3 mobs at a time, since they only have about 3k hp. Just watch out for the 60 elite thay patrols the area. I didn't fight him, but i bet he hits hard.

Got the same problem as you Hearteh. As of 1-10-08, 59 Tauren Warrior, collect 4 runes, right click primer in center of portal and nothing. "Hand" cursor gets grey outline around it like it does when you need to do a aoe click, but still nothing. I have done this on Alliance with no problems.

Make sure you are in the right portal. There are a lot of portals and not all of them are interactable. When you are in an appropriate portal you will get a gear icon, not a hand.

I did this as a level 60 BM Hunter. I had to kill around 20 mobs to get the stones, but I could easily aggro 2-3 of them and survive very easily. Easy quest :)

Finally got it. So when we say in the portal we litteraly mean in the portal. You'll know your at the right portal by putting ur mouse over it and the gear may turn gold. but the primers wont work unless your literaly in the portal. Hope this helps =)

Watch out for the lvl 60 (elite) mob that patrols area.. (name is Felgaurd Destroyer)
Almost got picked off as a lvl 58 sub. rogue.. <3 vanish =P

note to my fellow hunters. if the flayer-hide leggings are better than your current leggings, DO NOT TAKE THEM. the next quest has a reward that has the EXACT same stats as the flayer legs, only they're mail not leather. take the tunic or breastplate instead they both vendor for a gold more than the leggings. and lets face it, every little bit counts on the way to that epic :P

OK well alot of you are saying the quest is glitched...it's not the coordinates given above are completely wrong they're not even on that side of the road...geez. Ok (71,54); (72,59) is the correct coords...I mean I know it was a mistake, but if you're going to comment hear atleast make sure your facts are straight. Btw even the pics given are wrong ROFL >.<.

I can't speak for anyone else, but almost as soon as I'd blown up Portal Kruul, an elite felguard spawned inside it. Luckily I managed to run away before it aggroed. I think it was the Felguard Destroyer mentioned above.

For the record, if you're a Lock, one enslaved Doomwhisperer (Enslaved with Improved Curse of Shadow on 'em first) will pwn 2-3 of the other demons around the Portals that are dual-wielding katanas. Forget their name, but let me tell you, the enormous thong wearing Whisperer tears up everything but the Elites in that area.

I don't know why this hasn't been said before, but the locations of your portals seem to be randomized between 4 spots. 2 are quest portals, 2 are not.

Horde, yes you need 4 Demonic Rune Stones from the mobs around the port, but the drop rate is good.

Just completed as 58 Fire Mage - as previously stated, chip away at the pats and the surrounding guards, they die in 2-4 hits from fire :-)

It took me 3 attemps before I figured out that I don't just walk up to the portal and click when the cog-wheel indicator goes from silver to gold (it will being the process and several seconds later it wil say "too far away"). You need to stand in the middle of the portal (like standing on a transporter pad in Star Trek.

Also I got my 8-runes needed from the first site, and even a netherhound dropped one as well as his handler, so it was 2 drops!

And yes, they will suck all of my level-59 Hunter manna off in 2 shots, so I make sure my pet trashes it first. It's also a decent place to grind to 60.

The Quest portals have big green crystals above them and show thier name when you move the mouse over. The others do not. You can check the portal from a distance with the mouse without having to fight close to each one.

- Lots of people have commented that they're both on the north side, so it's obviously easy to make the same mistake I did & just assume the 2nd is on the opposite side of the road (and then check here =) ).

- Easy drops for the runestones - I found the Netherhounds & Handlers particularly good for a drop. Mana using classes: be warned, the Netherhounds have a tap that drains your mana quite quickly. Thankfully they're also pretty weak, so just concentrate fire on them first & stun/silence/whatever them whenever they start to cast.

- Aside from guards wandering on fairly fixed routes, the gateways both have 4 Wrathguards (one on each corner) and a Doomwhisperer doing laps around the gate.

- In my experience (at lvl 59), only the Doomwhisperer will actually attack you if you stand in the middle of the gate and use the primer. That said, anyone who doesn't have stealth will probably have to kill one of the Wrathguards just to get into the gate in the first place... but the other three never entered aggro range for me & I wasn't particularly careful.

- If you watch yourself and dodge between the roving guards, in my experience you can actually time it so that you only need to kill those 2 demons. I got all my Demonic Rune Stones from the first gate and just waltzed up to the second gate, dodged the guards, killed the 2 to get to the gate, blew the gate & waltzed back out. It helps to be able to track demons on your minimap-radar-thingo if you're going to try and pull that one though.

- This place is great for skinners. The netherhounds regularly carry nothing, it's a relatively small area & there are often lots of people killing them. You just wait around, mebe occasionally lend a hand, and skin those dead hounds non-skinner characters leave behind. I got 30+ knothide scraps and a handful or two of knothide for virtually zero effort. I'll be hanging around there more often.

- I liked this quest. It was a good combination of mildly tactical and "kill 'em all". The rewards were pretty useless to me, although i vendored mine for an extra 3g75s, but the skins made up for it. Plus the next two quests in the chain are great fun, impossible to die on & got me an additional total of 22,650xp plus 600 rep at levels 59 & 60 =)

(PS. this quest got me 10,050 xp + 250 Thrallmar rep at level 59)

To complete this quest you need to destroy Portal Grimh and Portal Kaalez - this is The Horde version of the quest!

Make your way to the east of Reaver's Fall and you will enter to the area with portals. Start killing demons around the portal until you collect 4 Demonic Rune Stones
After collecting enough runes get walk the portal and click to it so you will destroy it. Now get to another portal to the east and make exactly the same.

Descrizione

Directly east of here is the Legion Front. Spaced across the front are infernal portals and gateways, used to bring reinforcements to Hellfire Peninsula and throughout Outland. We're going to destroy those portals!

Take these primers. Designed in Area 52, they use the demons' own power as an explosive! Defeat Legion forces around Portals Xilus and Kruul to gather demonic rune stones, use the primer to detonate four stones inside the portals, and watch! Return to me when your mission is complete.
