They will not aggro you on the ground.. unless you shoot them out of the sky.. so you can single pull..

Just becareful.. there aimed shot.. hits you for about 2k.. and crits for about 4k.. so be prepared. :)

There's a small alternative then the floating rocks. 72.3, 64.3
It's just SE of Dragonmaw Fortress, The dragons fly past there and I (as a holy priest) couldn't always keep up with the rate in which they came. and there's no competition :)

You have to drop 10 Netherwing Relic https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=32509 and they only drop from Dragonmaw Transporters https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=23188.

There are three spots: the place where they land, and 2 little flying islands where they pass over.. Only in these 3 places you are able to pull them and it's around 74,76. They spawn always on the same place so just take your position and keep it. They will respawn fast so it's kinda a sequent pull.

(Best place where i did this quest is 74.6,75.7 - screenshot coming as soon as approved)

P.S: Aimed shot hit cloths for 2.5k, rarely crit for 4/5k. If you nuke them fast they won't use it.

My friend and I did our farming at the wooden ramp on the northern edge of the Ridge towards the east side. (Not sure on coordinates, but I'm sure someone else has mentioned it above.) Transporters take-off and land here frequently, so it's a good farming spot (if you can get to it first).

There are two elite drakonids guarding the platform who can and will crush you if aggroed. Attacks on any Transporter on the platform will aggro the drakonids. For this reason, I recommend recommend ignoring arrivals and focusing on departures. The incoming Transporters are tricky to target and hit before they get too close to the guards.

The departing Transporters are fairly easy once you learn their routine. They'll spawn at the back of the platform, walk to the northern edge, pause slightly, and then take off. As soon as the Transporter is airborne, you can safely pull them without aggroing the guards.

The Transporter moves fairly quickly, so you'll need to be ready to get aggro before he gets out range. Don't worry; the timing is pretty easy to master. My rogue friend never had a problem hitting him with a thrown knife. As a mage, I found Fire Blast didn't give me sufficient range, but Scorch or Fireball worked just fine. (Fireball is a little trickier because of the longer cast time, but solution is to start casting Fireball before the Transporter is airborne.)

One last issue for long-range nukers: be careful not to overdo it while the Transporter is airborne. It is possible to kill the Transporter in mid-air and, given your proximity to the edge, the corpse may not be lootable.

The best part about this location: a new Transporter spawns every ~25 seconds, so you're assured a steady stream of mobs (plus a stack of corpses at your feet). As a mage, I personally never had to move from my pulling spot. Target, nuke, nuke, nuke, loot, wait for next. Very simple.

The nice thing about doing this from one of the floating islands is that you can enlist your friends who aren't on the quest to help you with it--my normal questing buddy doesn't have his 300 Riding skill yet so he can't go near Netherwing Ridge anymore without getting mobbed by peons, so it's nice to have a spot where he can help me out without worrying about getting jumped.

The dragons aren't that hard to shoot out of the sky from the island right near the wooden dock, and they fly over often enough to ensure a steady stream of kills. The drop rate was okay--had to kill probably around 30 to get my 10 relics.

An odd bug we found--at one point I shot down a dragon and it came down but no orc appeared. Even though he didn't appear, though, he was still attacking. Seems like a variation on the bugged mobs that can't be hit but that can hit you even when you run far out of range.

This mobs are bugged a bit. So, they can be kited until dead. They won't dismount until they very close with you. So you can kite then and they will just follow you on their mount.

Some tips:

1) You can pull these guys either on the rocks floating directly north of the wooden launch ramp, or the ramp itself. There are 2 rocks where they seem to patrol over. There's also a few hills back on the continent you can pull them from as well.

2) To avoid their 2.3k omgwtfaimshotpwned ability, adjust your camera so you can watch them fight. When you see them stop their axe animation and pull back their bow, it's your cue to STUN. That'll stop their aimed shot. (They also do a similar animation for their poison shots, but it's not as long.)

3) The drop rate's around 20-30%. Ouch.

Druids, I kill these guys just south of Dragonmaw Fortress and I found that if you entangle them as they fly by, they'll stay in the air and can't attack. Then you can nuke them all you want. Be ready to entangle again if your first disappears though. As long as you keep them in the air, you're perfectly safe from harm.

And if you accidently kill the transporter while it's still in the air, just shift into flight form and you can loot him.

Tips for paladins without 41 prot or 31 holy...

Jump... jump + judgement is the only way for our class to agro them as we DON'T have any ranged attacks aside from 2 talents deep in the tree... (GG Blizzard)

Yes, it sucks, the two trees weakest for a paladin to kill random mobs are the only two that can 'easily' pull these...

(Though, after the 10th one you start getting the pattern down)

I'm still looking for other / better spots, but the eastern rock didn't work out well.. western rock in one spot (the highest point) is the only floating rock i've been able to reliably agro them on...

the fortress doesnt seem to have them within 10 yards of the ground at any point their spawn point in the fortress is about 20 yards above the top of the tower... too bad, if they actually came NEAR The tower you could fight them on the 1 foot wide ledge >.<

This quest kinda just... sucks.

You're going to spend a lot of time waiting around for the transporters to fly by. The drop rate is a little less than 40%, so you're going to wait for even MORE transporters to fly by.

The mobs don't have a whole lot of HP and are fairly easy to kill, with the exception of their aimed shot, which hits me (Rogue) for around 2400. There's no cast bar for this ability, but you can usually tell they're about to do it when they pull out their crossbow for more than a second or two (though ocassionally they'll bug out and you'll get nailed with aimed shot while they're standing around holding a sword). They are immune to blind and gouge, so fellow Rogues will have to rely on KS to interrupt the aimed shot. If your KS fails, brace for impact! =P Once or twice, I've also had the mob aimed shot me immediately after coming out of stun, so just make sure to heal up between fights.

As a warrior i found a little trick.The best place to do it is on the rock right in front of the take off point.Wait until they get over the rock and charge them,you wont leave the ground but it will agro them and give you rage.Now if you can move so your under the rider as he comes to land he will dismount onto your head.If he does he wont attack and you should be able to beat them down no probs..Occasionally you'll get target needs to be in front of you but turn on the spot and that should go away

The best spot to get those guys is the floating island right right across form the take off point. There are three different flight paths - directly from the take off, one from the left, one from the right. Standing there, you can kill them non stop (most of the time).

Still, this quest is a pain. Playing a warrior, the reduced range is an issue when pulling them as well, especially if I'm not alone on said island - any ranged character can easily tag them all before I reach them.

74, 75 is as seen above, the best spot. From what I've found, if you kill there, after a kill, another one will come exactly 10 seconds after the previous kill. So long as you don't let any escape, you'll get your relics in no time.

This might require some practice, but if you can get them to land on top of you (take a step forward as they're about to lang) they won't attack you.

After patch 2.3, this quest is even harder to do. Seems like some of the orcs fly away from you even after you hit them. Some of them were even flying around without their dragon... looked as if they were 'swimming' in the air.

I'm a Protection Paladin and confirmed best location is at 72.3, 64.3 to do this. Its the very top of the hill there on top of peak. You see everything passing buy from there. Two sets of Transporters will always leave Dragonmaw in two flight patterns, you pick the flight pattern closest to you in flight parth. I added a Photo pic to reference.

All i do is wait for the Transporters to pass by and either throw Avengers Shield or Mana tap the Transporters passing by and got aggro. Mana tapping them as a Blood Elf always work easily and easy as that. You can stay at location and take a break if you want to and nothing will attack you. Drop rate for me and doing it several days was maybe somewhere 40-50% for the relics. I've done it several days and its average about that. If you got worst luck than that then you got plain bad luck.

The Transporters mob hits you with Aimed shot which can hit for about 1300, due to my defense i defense i dodged or missed most of those. His Serpent sting hits you also but thats easy cleanse if you can so so. Easy to kill if you wear plate.

I just started this quest line today.

50 mobs attacked. 10 killed, 40 evade bugged. 4 dropped relics.

Awesome questline they got here. At this rate it'll take me 4-5 days to get a daily done.

well from my experience i can say that best spot(for me atleast) is the spot from where they take off

just stand a little away from it (recommended place is from side not directly infront) and pull them with fireblast gun or anything similar.

and since that are taking off really frequently it's piss easy then and you wont even pull others

i barely had chance to drink after each kill

The best place is by far this one. The last plank just before the 2 ascendants. If you stay clear, don't cast totems and dismiss pet etc... You can stand here and take both the takeoff and the landing transporters without problems.

At the moment they still do evade bug but I found out that if you start moving, they will suddenly land and you can kill them. Drop rate suck though but atleast they only hit 150-200 for mail.

I like standing on the little hill at dragonmaw fortress and get them as they fly over from the fortress, two people can grab a hill each and share the mobs. I was doing this the other day and needed only 3 more, I am a Warrior ally and 3 ranged class horde players came and began pulling every mob before they came into my short range, so I flew over to the roof of the large round tower in front of me where they spawn in the air, grabed my 3 no problem.
Land on the eastern side of the large roof at 71.32 62.34 facing over the usuall pull towards the netherwing ledge you can pull both incoming and outgoing mobs from here.
Bugs to note, if you pull an incoming mob he may land infront of you as normal when you can mellee his ass or become stuck on his mount in the oposite side of the roof, or dismount infront of you and drop down inside the tower. If one of the latter scenarios occur the rider will eventually come to mellee in front of you as normal, just carry on pulling mobs knowing that you may have 2 to fight at once but they are squishy enough, if you do get caught low on health simply run down the roof and they will despawn. Pulling an outgoing mob can sometimes prevoke the spawning of the enslaved drake above you a while after the pull which may have appered to have not pulled. The drake will despawn later but the rider will carry on on his way swimming through the air without a mount LOL. This seams to happen if the transporters take the central of the 3 outgoing lines, some days there will be transporters taking off often in 1s 2s and 3s over 3 slightly different lines and incoming ones aswell but on some days they will be limited to outgoing only and only in the central of the 3 possible lines, if this happens the pull from the roof will be very buggy and the pull from the hills will have a low drop rate.

Edit NB as of 2.4 things are much different

Well, here is a little "trick" for melees (that dont have that uber-pwn gear, to kill these mobs instantly)

Tag these mobs with your ranged weapon; wait till they will land and hit them in melee
when they will dismount => just walk in a cycle and continue attacking these mobs
when they dont dismount => happy killing

i am doing this and wont lose ANY healthpoints

you have to watch the mobs because if they start to do the aim shot, stun them (e.g. intercept as a warrior)

I did a very very quick movie, to show you guys who i am doing it (please dont rate UI or anything *smile* and remember: i dont have uber-pwn gear)

As of patch 2.4, the Dragonmaw Transporters no longer dismount when you fight them. However, this doesn't prevent them from still bugging out a lot. /sigh

The amount of Transporters seems to have increased as well.

I just started this quest today on my Ret Paladin, and it took me a little bit to find an "ideal" spot that didn't require fancy footwork, Repentance, or using something like Linken's Boomerang.

72.0, 74.7 is a great spot for a Ret Paladin. Fly towards Netherwing Ledge, until you see the two enormous floating islands. Land on the right-hand island, and turn facing north, wait a few seconds and you'll see a Transporter swoop down and glide along the ground on the northeast edge of the island for a couple seconds. Sit right there and drop a Rank 1 Consecration shortly before the next one so it ticks right as he passes over and it'll grab him - I tested this several times, standing well outside of aggro radius, worked like a charm.

I didn't see this specific location from anyone in the above comments, so it may be redundant, but I'll provide a map with pin location:

You know what? &*!@ blizz for this quest. Only now that i do it as a melee i see how *!@#ty it is.
Does it make sense that a PvE speced rogue would hard be able to take one of those? Coz they usualy get me down to less then 50% before i get a chance to hit them, and if i'm lucky enough, they won't aimshot me after they "land", coz then i'll be down to around 10%.

This is not just another QQ, this is a quest that i did with ease with a priest and a hunter, and can hardly do with a rogue that's twice better geared, and speced for PvE grinding.

Please see screenshots for a picture that will help you find precisely where a spawn point is for a Dragonmaw Transporter.

Take special note not only of the coordinate (74,75) but the specific rock I'm standing on, where I'm standing on that rock, and which way I'm facing. If you mimic this, you should find a new pop of this mob frequently - especially after you've killed one.

The major problem here is the rock isn't flat, so once you catch aggro it's best to move right under the mob, and it should fly down on top of you. I found that moving to a new place and jumping a lot sometimes gets it to move there, but I bet jumping isn't necessary.

Look for a target circle on the ground. Until you see one, chances are it will just range fire at you indefinitely. This may be OK if you can return fire, but Hunters like me need the pet to catch aggro and it can't fight until that target circle appears.

Strafe and move behind it repeatedly to get it to move to your position. If you don't, it will just stay there shooting - and those 2k hits are ouchy!

Blizzard made this quest a horror for melee classes, most of the time they are not even coming down and if they do they often evade and reset.

For melee classes I would recommend focussing on the mobs coming from the ramp from Netherwing Ledge and heading north.

As mentioned in a few posts, towards the south east of Dragonmaw Fortress (on the primary land mass of SMV), there are a few mountains you can stand on, and shoot down Transporters as they start their journey. The best spot about this place? There are no glitches with the transporters not coming down, or evade bugging, or anything like that. They always come down, and never evade bug.

Not only that, but this place is quite often overlooked by most people. I have yet to have any competition for kills, which is a big plus in my books. If I hadn't been directed to this spot by some of the above spots, I would've given up on this particular daily - but now it's one of my easiest sources of 12g. ^___^

These guys are the buggiest mob i have ever come across in WoW.
they get stuck evading all the time, they keep pummeling you but you can't touch them.

I'm tired of getting these things to about 50%, they go on evade and smack me with a big ole Aimed Shot while staying on evade and going to maximum health.

Or sometimes I hit them and they just keep going.. and keep shooting.. >.>

Ret paladins may seem screwed on this quest, as they have very limited ranged abilities. However there are ways to get around this limitation-- even though they're immune, repentance will pull these guys. A Blood Elf can also use mana tap to pull these. To aid in a rotation with repentance, there are also a number of trinkets with a ranged ability from 20 yds to 45 yds. Here's what i've found scanning the list of trinkets:

Linken's Boomerang (30 yds)
Goblin Rocket Launcher (45 yds)
Gnomish Death Ray (20 yds)
Gnomish Shrink Ray (30 yds)
Smolderweb's Eye (30 yds)
Six Demon Bag (30 yds)

Does anyone else have a problem with the transporters becoming bugged after you hit them? I'm a hunter and it seems after I hit them the first time about 1/3 of them become bugged and evade my attacks.

If you're getting frustrated from running around on the islands on the Netherwing Skyway and keep missing the pulls and what not, just head back over to the dock where they land. You can easily pull the transporters by standing in front of the dock and you wont aggro the Ascendants.

74,76 is a good spot for this, as mentioned. The flight paths of the Transporters bring them within range of this island regularly. Just wait for one to come in, pull, and collect your drops. There's also another island just west of this one that works as well, but it's a little smaller, so trickier to get within range long enough for a pull (without walking off the edge of the island while you're looking skyward).

Incidentally, this quest can result in my favorite bug in this game. Occasionally, a Transporter will glitch out, either on an incidental add, or sometimes even on a pull. They'll land and dismount, but rather than fighting, will just stand there and evade.

Eventually, having grown bored of standing there, they leave again...but instead of remounting their drake, they will simply swim away into the wild green yonder. If you watch them long enough, sometimes you can catch them as they swim back around, and re-pull. At this point, you'll wind up with one amazingly talented Transporter and two netherdrakes hovering there watching you fight. Fun stuff.

After the 2.1.2 patch, the Transporters seem to be immune to Fear and Terror. It makes disrupting the aimed shot impossible for warlocks.

Hi,
There is a glitch in this quest. If you don't hit them directly in front of you they will evade. They will shoot at you but you can't hit them as they constantly evade. Just petition and tell gm. Eventually they will fix this quest.....as it is now, not a good quest to do on a daily basis.

The coordinates the Ruskie gave are right. Just fly to the next rock over from the transport and pick them off to avoid the elites.

remember two things:
1) try to catch the transporters in the AIR, otherwise the elite Dragonmaw Ascendants will be very happy
2) don't let your hp get under 2k. their aimed shot hurts. a lot ;)

I made a macro to hit the transporters instead of dotting them up on my lock since dots may not tag the mob if someone casts fire blast or some instant big spell even after you do.

I got my imp out, parked myself next to the landing zone where the two Ascendants are. I just spam the macro and it targets and tags the transporters with my imp. Works without aggroing the Ascendants.

/target Dragonmaw Transporter
/cast Firebolt

Better than standing around on the fortress roof or one of those islands trying to compete with hundreds of people.

On the northeast edge of this island exists a dock used for the packaging and transport of Netherwing crystals and relics. Dragonmaw Transporters transport the goods from the dock to Dragonmaw Fortress while Dragonmaw Ascendants guard the ground from any would-be attackers.

This leaves one opening for you to make a strike at the Dragonmaw: The Dragonmaw Skyway.

Fly to the shattered islands of the Dragonmaw Skyway and ambush the transporters that use the route. Recover our stolen relics!
