If you're Horde, this item is completely useless and you can safely destroy it if it shows up in your bags.

Edit: I'm not sure why someone down-rated this comment. If it's wrong and this item has a use for Horde characters, please reply to this comment and state how so for everyone's benefit instead of just down-rating.

2008-05-20 Edit: That's weird. When I wrote this comment, the only quest this item was an objective for was Alliance-only. Something must have changed. It may have been a Wowhead error. Anyway, read zaki's awesome response below. I'm leaving the original post here for history's sake. Perhaps some insane WoW completist will respond with more information some day.

This is found in the last room of Scholomance, in the basement from Ras Frostwhisper's room. It's off to the side on a ledge.

Only one spawns per instance run. It is the same with Shadowskin in Scholo too, and Scarlet Thread in Strat.

this can also be picked up in a raid. but still only once per run.
anyone can take it (even without the quest), so avert your raid members, because people tend to just go "oh, what's this" and nab it. obviously it is then lost, because it's a quest item, so not tradable or even sellable to an npc.

It's used to make this: Leggings of Arcana, but unless you are a Druid or Shaman, the quest isn't worth doing. As a Rogue the leggings are totally useless to me, except for the armor. So if your a Warrior, Mage, Priest or even a Hunter, you may want to abandon this quest and sell the Embalming Fluid.

Wildheart doesn't give you any bonuses relevant to healing until 7 pieces. For healing, Leggings of Arcana all the way.

Keep the Kilt for when you're soloing though. It's the only "all stats" leather leg armor, which makes it pretty good for a soloing druid.

This is NOT the last Room, but yes this is the room where the Lich Ras is.

The Embalming fluid is on the left of the altar (the deed for the quest on the right)

And yes it's soulbound, one per run

The thing about the embalming fluid is that it's not actually *dropped* by Ras; it's just in his room, waiting to be looted. Therefore, you don't really even need to run Scholo five times to get five of these.

What I did was run it once or twice, then I just did a /who Scholo and whispered people in Scholo to see if they were almost done. If they were, I offered to pay them to invite me to their group after they were done but before they left.

Walk in, hop down to the viewing room entrance, walk into Ras' room and pick up the embalming fluid, and you're done. No need to get into a 2-3 hour Scholo group just for this when you can ask people, and maybe wait 10-15 minutes tops for each loot.

Where is this this thing ? I've done scholo quite a couple of times and never noticed it ? Is it in the room with Ras in it ?

This is in Ras' room. As you walk into the door, the fluid is on the left-middle of the room.

Frostwhisper's Embalming Fluid can be obtained inside Ras Frostwhisper's room within the dungeon Scholomance. It can be looted from the object Frostwhisper's Embalming Fluid; it does not drop off of the boss.

Frostwhisper's Embalming Fluid is an ingredient needed to complete the quest Leggings of Arcana which will give you the quest reward Leggings of Arcana. In order to get the quest in the first place, you (or someone in your party) must kill and skin The Beast inside Blackrock Spire, whereupon Pip Quickwit will spawn to give you the quest Pip Quickwit, At Your Service!. Turn that quest in to Malyfous Darkhammer in Winterspring, and you will be able to pick up the Leggings of Arcana quest from Malyfous's Catalogue.
