I used to farm in Un'Goro for Savage Fronds, but I recently started taking a liking to Felwood better. The mobs seem to be more compact and there's also Water Elementals nearby that have a chance to drop some Core of Elements (if you're going for the Insignias, this is another turn-in item). You can also get living / water essences from these two mobs.

Turn 30 of these in to the Argent Dawn at Light's Hope Chapel, Eastern Plague Lands for Argent Dawn Insignias which are used to buy gear.

I decided to try and get these fronds off of Bloodpetal dudes in Un'Goro.

When I started out killing the level 51-52 guys, my drop rate was 3/8.

When I moved east and killed the level 48-49 guys, that rate changed to 0/10.

I had the quest "Savage Flora" when I killed them but I don't think that makes a difference for this one.

So far - Felwood seems to be the best place to farm these. Not only are the mobs easy as pie, lvl 52-53 - but you also get the odd Living Essence from them as well. Plus, pretty decent droprate - got 40 of them in just over an hour.
Another upside is that you don`t have to fear being munched by Devilsaurs.

I got a 33% drop rate off of the Bloodpetals in eastern Crater. I had 30 in less than 45 minutes. I don't know how crowded Felwood is getting, but I had no competition at the time.

You get 200 Rep for every FIRST turn in of each collection quest. On repeatable status, AKA subsequent turn in's, you get 10 AD Rep.

This one seems to be the nicest one, whereas you turn it in and get a choice of either Dawn or Crusade insignia's.

DM East is the way to go. If you're good at farming, kill the whip lashers in the pit + death lashes (they can drop 4 per kill). By doing this, dying off and then resetting the instance, I was able to pull 60+/hour.

i can no longer get these to drop for me in DM east... ive cleared it 4 times now and its a 0% drop... before it was probably around 40-50%. wtf

I was still able to pull in about 80/hour yesterday, but as of today (6/27/2006) they no longer drop off Whip Lashers.

un goro worked fine for me... got 30 frronds in about 30-40 minutes. they dropped from the 48-49s as well as from the 50-52s.

Irontree wanderers also drop this, it's not only the stompers.

On my server ppl are buying them at 3g a pop, instead of using them, i've been selling them .... people are morons, but soon they'll get to grips with that it's overpriced and prices will fall. By then i can buy my fronds at a reasonable price.

Drop rate in felwood is alot better. 2500 kills in UnGoro Yeield 763 fronds. 2500 kills in Felwood yeiled 992 fronds. I just killed a bunch more in Felwood to get the last bit of fronds I needed.

in un'goro i was aoe farming the bloodpetals, 4-5 at a time on my mage, and got 60 in about 45 minutes. i think i'll stick with that.

Un'Goro ftw. I've been farming that area for a few days as well as herbs and blood petal sprouts so my drops were a bit lower but Ive found a few hundred so far. Good luck guys. . and they go for a gold apiece on Blackhand alliance side. :P

For what it's worth, after grinding these a lot, the drop rates from the flowers in Un'Goro:

Bloodpetal Thresher : 242/638 (38%)
Bloodpetal Lasher : 221/598 (37%)

Also, less accurate stats:

Bloodpetal Flayer : 35/96 (36%)
Bloodpetal Trapper : 8/24 (33%)

I Get one of these almost every other kill in Felwood off of the Irontree Stompers.

There are knots of the threshers all around un'goro and the drop rate is around 1 in 4 or so. Was able to complete the quest in about an hour just running around and killing. One group of threshers can be found at 60,37. Good luck!

Started at 11:17 and end at 12:39... ended up with 60 Savage Frond. (That was my goal)

Did this in Northeast Un'Goro with only killing Lashers and Threshers. Threshers dropped them more.

when I first hit Un'goro I thott'd these, began saving...had almost two turn in's in back when I finally got to EP and got the quest. I farm these and Un'goro soil as a break from other stuff, it's easy and relatively brainless (58 Warlock)

I farmed 600 of these in ungoro over a couple of days killing Threshers and lashers. Drop rate was about 1 in three maybe 4. Also killed and skinned just over 50 devilsaurs which was an added bonus.

50 devilsaurs? I'm impressed. After killing 5, I think they're too much work. The only good thing about them, of course, is the devilsaur leather. But devilsaur leather stuff only sells for medium prices in the ER AH. It might be better on other servers.

Don't be discouraged. The drop rate for these is listed so low because they just came out in Patch 1.11

It kinda drops frequently in Maraudon, the purple crystals. It dropped like 10 in 15 minutes... they are in groups of 3 elites, generally so kinda easy to kill

Did my hunting in Ungoro with results below:

104 mobs (mixed with lashers / flayers / threshers)
30 Fronds
1 Minor Green
handful of junk herbs

Quest is not really worth it.

mind you people, as I said for core of elements- since Allakhazam and Thottbot already have a great number of these mobs for their stats, drop rates will appear very low.

Assume that Allakhazam already has 100,000 kills on lashers in its database, and out comes 1.11, intoducing these new drops. Assume that the first recorded drop is on the second kill reported - in Allakhazam's eyes ( and all other database sites ), that's 1 drop in 100,002, EXTREMELY low, even though in reality it was 1 drop in 2 mobs.

My *experienced* average for Cores of Elements (in NW Silithus, Crystal Valley) is about 1 drop every 3, and for Savage Fronds about 1 drop every 4 bloodpetal somethings in Un'Goro.

I've been farming these in Un'Goro for a while now, and I get a 71% drop rate off of the Bloodpetals. In just 15 minutes, I've ended up with 23.

btw the trees in DM west tend to drop 4 at a time, if you can solo them that's the way to go.

There's some guy farming these like hell on our server. He always has at least 5-6 stacks of 250 in each on AH. Far more than any of the stuff you can hand in to get insignias. Been trying to trade Core of elements vs these with him but he refuses and responds with some default china mumbo jumbo.

Anyone knows where he might be getting those crazy amounts ?

Best place to farm those is AH. Goes for around 4-4,5g per 30 on my server.

i have been aoe farming these in DM east, but now it looks as if they have changed the droprate to 0%. i was getting about 100 or so per hour, now i have cleared it 4 times and gotten not a single frond... anyone know what is going on? where else can i go that is easy to aoe grind but still has such a good drop rate?

i've found the actual drop rate in un'goro seems to be about 1 in 5 or 1 in 6, depending on where you're killing

I agree, the droprates in felwood are a lot higher than the percents shown here. I usually farm the elemental horrers, and while waiting for them to respawn, I kill some of the trees, I say you will get 3 fronds per 5 guys you kill. I have farmed here several dozen times, and this is just a median

Assuming revered reputation, you need 2,700 of these to get an epic item. At a 30% drop rate (approx), you have to kill 9,000 mobs. You're looking at a decent 75-90 hours of farming here from a statistical point of view. My friend got his in 2 days with DM farming, but that got the nerfstick.

Got mine finished. Blackhand server. Affliction locks are gonna be seriously dissapointed. Syhpon life and drain life will not add charges to the buff. I respecced destruction just so I could use this trinket I farmed so much for. Hope its a bug *shrug*

The Trees in Felwood got higher chance then shown... i get 1 in like 2-3 Tree's and they also got a slight chance of Dropping Living Essence

Farmed a couple hundred today, drop rate on the Irontree was almost exactly 25%. Was getting about 35-40 per hour.

Savage fond also drop on Irontree Stomper in Felwood (WoW Classic).

Core of Element also drop from the water elemental in Felwood.

Clearing all treants in the first room of DM West with a 5 man group takes about 8-10min and nets ~45 Savage Frond on average per reset
