This trinket has been updated (I guess in 2.0.7), it now gives 128 to 172 mana on ranged procs in addition to its previous melee proc.

Anyone know if the "ranged" effect procs on spell hits? From the wording, I'd assume not, but since all the other casters have a trinket to get +mana on proc (Mark of Defiance for mage, priest, and warlock; Mark of Vindication for pallys and shammys), I find it odd that druids would be the only caster that can't get one. Anyone know?

I'm a hunter, and i notice every other time i have to go into melee range, the healing thing procs.

Too bad the mana on ranged damage doesnt proc correctly.

Seems to be working on "ranged hits."
Windyreed Scavenger's Throw hits you for 220.
You gain 130 Mana from Mark of Conquest.

Pretty worthless secondary ability.

A rogue left a comment on the Alliance version of this item stating that it has a proc rate of about 10%.

Theorycrafting alert:

If this procs on 'shots' and not just auto-shot, then it's a must have for all Hunters. I've been hearing 10% proc rate (could be 2PPM using a standard 2.7 - 2.8 bow).

Most hunters should be taking at least 50 shots per minute. That's around 5 procs, at an average of 150 mana per proc.

5 x 150 = 750 mana per minute

750 / 60 x 5 = 62.5 MP5, on one trinket, plus the 54 attack power!!!

There are very few items that restore mana to hunters, outside of the normal consumables, MP/5, and spirit. Two more are:

Black Grasp of the Destroyer gloves (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=22194) grant 8 mana per melee or ranged hit (including shots) and drain 8 mana if the target has mana. This grants breathtaking amounts of mana when dual-wielding.

The Power Infused Mushroom trinket (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=28108) grants 200 mana when you get the killing blow on a non-grey target.

Note that mana gain from item procs generates the same threat as healing. The threat is one-half the number of mana points restored, divided up amongst all the in-combat monsters on your threat list. It isn't much, but it could be enough to draw mobs that don't have a lot of threat on your tank.

As a feral druid, I use this trinket since the moment I hit lvl62.

This trinket combined with improved leader of the pack, heals enough to allow me farm non-stop. Only shifting out to rebuff. I also use this in raids. For fights like Shade of Aran where you can not avoid damage, this one is very nice to have. In a 4h raid, I usually heal for about 200k HP which saves some serious amount of mana from healers. Although most of this heal comes from imp. lotp, the effect of this trinket is nothing to be underestimated.

Note that it can crit too, healing you %50 more than normal.

All in all, a very good trinket for cat form imo.

As a hunter with the Elekk gun (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=25639) i usually get anywhere between 1-3 procs off of normal trash mobs. It's an amazing trink and is well worth the time spent collecting marks for this.

Tried it for a couple of minutes today on Dr. Boom, with steady/auto macro rotation (BM, iAoTH and SS)

Average of 2 procs per minute, or 26 MP/5

Do not forget that the 60 mp5 is calculated on a BM hunter with "Serpent swiftness" wich means 30% attack speed boost
still even 40 mp5 on a trinket such as this one will make it awasome
*(Even with Viper Aspect and T4 equipment and 2x1H with 30 intelect enchant wich equals a lot of intelect for the viper aspect to work smooth + mana oils on both weapons and mageblood potion and this trinket a MM hunter has about 250 mana regen and can nuke constantly with a little help of Fel Mana potions this trinket will make a fine adition to the mana regen gear)
... I just realised that they have put the proc on ranged attacks and since when i leveled up this was not like that i have never even looked at this marvelous equipment now i will maunt my epic hunter and go grind for a lvl 62 trinket to increase my raid boss performance :(

Shame on you blizzard put an upgrade of this trinket in 70lvl - in purple colour :)

If you use Scrolling Combat Text, and would like a visual notification of when the trinket procs (besides the small heal animation on your character), you can add a custom event, if they are enabled in the SCT options.
Open the 'sct_event_config.lua' file in the SCT folder and add these lines about halfway down (you will see others like them). The first is for the mana gain proc, and the second is for the health gain.

You can change the name= to whatever you want SCT to say when the trinket procs. Putting the *1 in here will show the amount of mana or health restored in the proc. Remember to change the class= to your class.

This trinket is just awesome.
Grinding leather, I'm able to pull about +172, max so far; on average its about +164mana.

Have had a heal crit for this trinket for +165.

It is a VERY viable trinket for any ranged attacker, melee as well.

thats 134 AP + an occasional 100+ healing!! but I'm sure i could of sacrificed a lil ap for hit

and or crit or something but this combo suites me fine.
i think you could also pair it with something like

Anyone knows if it works with the talent for feral druids "nurturing instinct" in both the 2 sides of the talent ?

a) 20% more healing received in cat form
b) +healing added from 100% agility

With this plus aspect of the viper, I can grind nonstop for hours without drinking.

There is no reason for a BM hunter to stack intellect or mp5

shot over 2000 shots and didn't had a single proc.. then half of the fights i meleed it procced.. nice overhealing ^^

This is a must-have Hunter Trinket, in my opinion.
Last Kara run, a very short run as we were running several newly keyed players and didn't have the healing present for Moroes or further, we killed Attumen and the Animal Boss only. The Mark returned 11,615 Mana to me on the run. Even if I only swapped it in for the Boss fights I'd consider the Thrallmar Marks spent on this gem to have been very well spent.

Enjoy some world pvp in Hellfire till you got 30 marks. Go the city with the strange name Bzjzjdjrjzr in Zangarmarsh, look on your map for a lost horde scout and turn in the 30 marks of thrallmar for this beauty... hf.

I got this trinket for my hunter right away at lvl 62 because of the AP, but it didnt really have any additional use, until now, when blizzard added the chance to restore mana on ranged hit.

It's a cool hunter trinket now.

Only problem is that the procc kinda suck, but oh well.

Considering the fact that there are more and more items I see from BC that seem to be enforcing the variety of Warrior styles, this takes the cake. There can be little argument as to where Blizzard is taking melee classes in the next expansion, a combination Fury-spec and Protection-spec item? Awesome. Looks like Blizzard finally got sick of people saying "Fury Warriors? pfft. Why not just make a Rogue?"

I know it says it only works in melee, but doesn't that seem kind of stupid if they're going to list hunter as one of the classes that can use it? Granted, the AP is nice, but I wouldn't get it to use half the trinkets ability. Does anyone know for certain that it only works when damaging in melee?

This trinket is worth the 30 marks of HH. It procs MORE than combat potency. According to the damage meters, it proc 3x than crusader. Combined with crusader, i mostly get out of fights full health, with the exception to caster mobs.

My weapons were the 2.90 GM sword, and the 2.10 sword rewarded (bought) from being honored with Honor Hold.
Spec is Full Combat swords.

Also tested with Hemo, with a 1.3 offhand drain life dagger (which was only 3% of the total procs)

Best trinket ever.

Chance on hit will vary based on your weapon speed. Slow weapons will have a higher proc rate than fast weapons. In theory the amount of mana returned will be the same for all weapons over time.

omg it's so damn good... i mean my LoTP + that trinket... i'm staying on 96~% hp after each mob and i usualy doesnt drop under 50% after 8-12 mobs.

10/10 rate its a must have... !

With all the trinkets out there that are easily accessable and add attack power and/or health, which ones and what combos are best for pve, pvp and raiding?

Mark of Conquest: +54 attack power, chance to heal 90-120 while attacking

Fetish of the Fallen: +56 attack power, use to restore 900 health if you kill something that gives experience or honor, 2 minute cooldown

Core of Ar'kelos: +52 attack power, use to increase attack power by 200 for 20 seconds

Essence Infused Mushroom: restores 200 health when you kill something that gives experience or honor, cannot occur more than once every 10 seconds

I've been trying to come up with different combos for different scenarios but my biggest question is how the Mark of Conquest compares to the Fetish of the Fallen. Since the healing from the Mark has a chance to proc as long as you are attacking something, versus the Fetish which requires that you or your party kill something shortly after you use it and then it has to cooldown for 2 minutes before you can use it again, which of the two might be of the most benefit (maybe differing in different situations)?

Okay... Um I was just wondering...

I am a balance druid with enough marks to buy this, though I need to know something first so I don't waste all my time. Will this proc of my range spell hits like the mage/warlock/priest one? Because if it does I would love this but if it doesn't I would keep GCI and Vengeance of the Illidari...

I have gotten this, and i counted it, obviously, to proc ten(10) times within seventy-two(72) hits. so roughly, for me, it was one(1) in every seven(7) hits. seems pretty decent to me. The weapon i had used was Crystalforged War Axe . pretty slow weapon. 70 warrior. I had used Mortal Strike, Victory Rush, and Heroic strike throughout this experiment. Those abilities i had included as a hit. So any white hit, along with any yellow hit, got me one(1) out of seven(7) hits.

The mana regain proc on this generates a small amount of hate.

This can be annoying as a hunter, when fighting groups of mobs and pulling hate off of your pet.

Keep it in mind hunters! It took me a while to figure out that this was causing it.

All my testing points to about 3 procs per minute for the mana restore. That equates to approx. 37.5 mp/5. Not bad at all.

When it procs, I notice it does generate a minuscule amount of threat, because it pulls any mobs off my pet that haven't been hit yet.

So reading this I get the impression that its a great feral druid item but what about moonkins? Do they benefit from the ranged attack or would it be only for physical ranged attacks?

Crit chance doesn't have anything to do with this trinket, you were right there. But if you knew what Improved Leader of the Pack was, then you would have understood. Every time a feral druid crits in cat or bear form it heals them for 4% of their total health (can only happen once per 6 sec). So they get healed a lot.
