My level 48 druid, 300 cooking skill, received this item in the mail today from Greatfather Winter. So it looks like you have to be CLOSE to 325 to receive the recipe.

Unfortunately both the sparkling apple cider and the hot apple cider have a 2 day duration. No stocking up on this insanely cheap and awesome drink :(

I'm level 51 / cooking 316 - got this in the mail today. Can't use it until I am level 65. But I plan on getting ALL recipes (some day)

An interesting note: it is possible to buy the ingredients for this recipe, make the cider and sell it back to Smokeywood Pastures at a profit. A very, very marginal profit.

After some experimentation I found that I made roughly 1gold in 10 minutes of cooking cider. You can do the math yourself, but it ends up being over 400 hours of cooking to make the 5k gold you need for your epic flyer. Obviously there are better ways to make gold, especially at level 70.

This is some great stuff, just don't try to make it your cash cow.

Profit Margin for making Hot Apple Cider

(Purchasing 20 of each mat - ie. 20 Sparkling Apple Cider, 20 Holiday Spices, and 20 Holiday Spirits)

x5 = 10s (or 2s each)

x5 = 10c (or 2c each)

x1 = 50c

Mats for 20 of each totals: 50s 40c (or 2s 52c each)

At 20 of each you actually create 40 Hot Apple Ciders. Each stack of 20 Hot Apple Ciders vendor buys back at 32s.

40 Hot Apple Ciders Vendor buys back at 64s

Profit Made: 13s 60c per 20 stack of mats (or per 40 Hot Apple Ciders).

Purchasing 160 of each mat took 1.4 minutes.
Cooking 160 mats took 9 minutes.
Selling Hot Apple Cider to vendor took about 1 minute (Kept getting: "That object is busy." displayed on screen.)

Total time rounded up: 13 minutes

Profit for above: 1g 8s 80c

At 13 minutes that equals about 995 hours to make 5,000g

I was bored. No cash cow. But when you have arena and or BG waits of over 7 minutes. This can keep you busy. (PS: In IF you don't have to run around looking where to cook this, as there is a Dwarven Brazier next to Santa that you can cook with.)

Made 3 stacks at about 12g per stack to sell as I'm to low level to use them.

The cider only lasts for 2 days and when I tried to put it in the AH I got a message that "Can't sell a conjured item". Got 32s per stack from the vendor.

The mats for a stack of 20 Hot Apple Cider only cost me 25s 20c in Ironforge, where I am Revered. I don't know why it cost you 12g.

Sparkling Apple Cider x5 is 10 silver
Holiday Spices x5 is 10 copper
Holiday Spirits x1 is 50 copper

1 of each ingredient makes 2 Hot Apple Ciders, so you 10 of each ingredient per stack.

Since it vendors for 32 silver, you can make a 6 silver 80 copper profit from each stack.

Nice fairly cheap (to make) cooking recipe, sadly has a 2 day duration on the Hot Apple Cider so can't fill your bank with them but would have to instead take up slots with the 3 ingredients. Recipe seems to be auto-sent to cooks with skill 325 or higher.
