Finally got the pattern for this one now, last one I was still missing. Had to try it out immediately of course, and I was quite suprised as it turned out not to be as useless as I expected it.

Sure, 500 damage really isn´t a lot, but then again there are occasions where every little bit helps, and this one is extremely cheap to craft, doesn´t require engineering to use, isn´t soulbound, and on top, you can use it from your bags like a potion. AND: It doesn´t share CD with anything from my experience, least it´s definitly not on the potion CD, nor on the HS CD (which are the important ones anyway)

So if you happen to know someone who can craft it just get one made, you never know when it might come handy.

This item is for use with Goblin Engineering sapper charges. It virtually eliminates fire damage caused to you by the charges. Coupled with the fire resist on engineered goblin helms, this item makes you a deadly close-range bomber in PVP and PVE @ lower levels. Suicide bombing w/o the suicide FTW!

I bought one on the Kirin Tor server.. pretty penny but the man wouldn't budge on price, said the drop cost him (time I imagine.) I paid 50s, has 5 charges, use from action bar, and it works Great! Anyone can use it.

This dropped off the end boss in gnomer when i was farming the instance. I went to sell it in action house and saw one for 500 gold buyout. I thought it was a retard person who didnt know what they were doing.But i thought what the heck maybe it is worth something, so i put it up for 100gold buyout and got the money 10 minutes later.....Maybe people use it in Molten Core.

OMG.. someone said they saw it for several hundred and sold theirs for 100g in like 10 minutes.. you think someone will sell you the schematic for under 1g?.. maybe you were just talking about the final product. But I have a feeling they are worth quite a bit more than 1g as well.

Anyway.. just poking around to see if there are schematics I don't have yet.

Just got the plans on Lightninhoof server and intend to make the deflectors not sell the plans. I paid a lot for the plans and was wondering what the item would sell for. Any suggestions?

I wonder if u can use this to absorb the fire damage from ur goblin sapper charge. About a year ago I had a guy in my guild that could make those on Bloodfeather and we were Horde :P I never used it tho caus i was saving mats to make an Arcanite Dragonling at the time and discarded the deflector as something lo-lvlish. Right now i'm thinking of starting over as Alliance on another serv , so can anyone check this for me? It would be really great to actually use the GoblinSapperCharge+FlameDeflector to avoid damage on lv30-40.

i wouldnt consider this to be useless, because its reuseable, says cooldown 5mins, but i wouldnt buy it, if i came across it or someone gave it to me, id make and use it. think about it, if you are trying to run away from something shooting fireballs at you, 15secs with added fire resist could help alot, its reuseable so.... and its only 5min cooldown, you could use it for pulling mobs that cast fireballs repeatily, 5mins isnt long cooldown. i just wish there was other ways to get this, only thing listed is mekgineer in gnome, thats long run off to be worth it, they should put it on vendor somewhere like they did with jumper cables i had to buy

This is the worst item ever! The schematic can only be gotten off of an incredibly rare drop from the Gnomeregen boss and the item itself is a joke! +15 resistance for 15 seconds would be terrible at even lvl 15 but the way this is going you will be lvl 40 begfore you get this!

Personally I have found this item to be very usefull in Mc and onyxia. I got the recipe about 1.5months ago, and have been crafting them for my guild ever since.

The flame deflector btw is 500 fire damage absorbtion, and is on a 15min timer. its on its own timer, and doesn't interfere with any other item (haven't tested a Ice deflector but am thinking they may share a timer)

The mats to craft it are sooo easy to get, that why not spend 3 hours and equip and entire raid with these things.

PS> Jilse - 60 Druid <DIE> on Illidan has the schematic and am more than willing to craft for non-blacklisted alliance.

Absorbs 500 fire damage? A lot of mages will be crying if you have this in Pvp and they try to flame you. Especially considering that you can get it at level 15.

I got this schematic today (03/21/06). I have 2 accounts and used my 52 war (with lots of buffs) to kill Thermaplug while my 31 druid watched. I've killed Thermaplug about 40 times and knew about the schematic - I can't believe I got it.

I would like to track down someone who has actually seen the schem drop. Been there and looted it to sell on ebay or in the AH. Or is currently selling it in the AH. I feel that if they are selling this item in the AH, then they must have been there and seen it drop. Names and dates would be extreamly helpful.

Doesn't share a cooldown with anything but itself making this an extreme practical consumable for many purposes from leveling to endgame. The item doesn't even trigger a GCD making it viable for mid-combat min-maxing.

The drawbacks of this consumable are the low amount of Fire damage absorbed in relation to the material costs (Fire Protection Potion costs approximately the same, but provides much more protection -- albeit with a shared CD with potions) and the fact that the Flame Deflector does NOT stack with Greater Fire Protection Potions or even Fire Ward.

Due to the aforementioned restrictions, Flame Deflectors are best utilized in the following ways:

Fast-paced Molten Core/Blackwing Lair clears where mana pots/Mighty Rage Potions etc. are prioritized (fights like Baron Geddon and his trash packs, Firemaw, Ragnaros)
PvP, against mages, especially together with Ice Deflectors (they don't share a cooldown between each other, nor with Healthstones/potions, so they provide an extra 1100 health against mages)
Situationally in leveling (Defias Pillagers in Moonbrook etc.)
For extra fire protection when a pre-popped GFPP is already active

For Hardcore enthusiasts, this device can be a lifesaver.
