If running this with upper levels that may already have this key to open these doors. Make sure you get your own key to use later.

This is found in Doan's Strongbox in Scarlet Monestary (Library) after you have killed the last boss, Arcanist Doan - you need to walk past his point-of-spawn to the back of the room and open the chest there.

I doubt you can sap him. He's immune to stuns.

sneak all the way in, wait till he is at the other side of the room then go behind the chairs and pick the box from there

i got it without problems but if you are too close to his level range it may pose some problems in terms of aggro range

this key might be useful sometimes , you Will get it anyway when doing libary instance or if you wanna skip it it doesnt matter someone in your party will always have it.

Do I have to have a Rogue with me in my party to open the Box or is it not locked?

Needed the key for scarlet side of Strat so my 60 Druid stealthed in and got key, no lockpicking needed.
I'm sure a lower level character could do it as well.

My party got to Herod and realised nobody had the key, so our rogue stealthed it as a level 39. It only took him 5 minutes tops.

To complete the Stratholme living side instance, we will need this key. Although I've seen a rouge open the door in Strat living I'm not sure whether he did it with his lock-picking skill, or he just had the key.

The key is found in the Scarlet Monastery instance, it is not in Strat.

I got the key solo as a lev 60 healing build Priest so shouldn't be a prob for any high lev class.

Go to Scarlet Monastery which is 'located in the northeastern corner of Tirisfal Glades'. Run up the steps and enter the instance to the right, the library part. The key is in the circular room at the end of the instance. You'll find Elites around lev 35 in groups of two which will run away and aggro more Elites when they're low on health.

Pretty easy to get to the circular room with Arcanist Doan in it. The key is in the lockbox in this room which you can grab when Doan walks about, but you may as well kill him.

can you use seaforium charge for the doors? doesn't really matter cause someone usually has the key, but just wondering.

If you are just running SM Library for the key (in order to get into certain parts of Strat), you should be able to solo it with any class over about level 50. I have just run it with my lev 49 prot paladin as I had never got around to collecting the key, and he never lost more than 20% health. I would recommend avoiding Houndmaster Loksley though - as he did significantly more damage than the Arcanist.

In response to the quetion as to whether you can stun, freeze trap, spa, etc Arcanist Doan; the answer is "no". I beleive "movement impairing" effects such as frost trap still work as advertised, but freeze trap, root and hammer of justice definitely don't. Also, don't bother trying to sheep or silence him.

It opens the 2 doors to the Scarlet monestary, and a door in Stratholme. I used my level 34 alt rogue and sneaked through sapping ppl on my way. Got to Arcanist Doan and waited for him to move to the right side of the room then opened the box and sneaked out again. The box wasn't locked for me so you don't need a Rogue in your party. Hope this helps.

I did this as a 64 Night elf druid, it was pretty easy mostly, but I stopped to get a chest and a bunch of the scarlet guys attacked and started adding in 2s and 3s, so I reccomend skipping any treasure chests you find, also if you are a low level rogue, I think it might be possible to use a summoning item (like the hound whistle) to distract the boss, but not sure if it would work as they die fast. Anyway, its pretty easy if your a high level, and easier (if thats possible) as a low level witha group, so you shouldn't need to worry about this too much, it just takes a (very) little while.

Solo'd it as a 61 warrior, I had no problems getting the key. Just killed everything in my path with ease. Only problem was I did not have enough bag space for all the loot. Had to pick and choose.

Just solod this as a lvl 61 NE hunter. Ran straight through, didnt bother fighting or distracting with my pet, got to the room right before the boss and used feign death, (still had 2000/6000 health) and then waited for everyone to leave, got up, ate some food, killed the boss, grabbed the key and ran out, very easy at this level.

For those who are scanning this page to see where the key is located, it is placed at the very end of the instance behind the final boss in the SM Library.

This Show how get it in steps

1: Enter Tirisfal Glades.
2: Go To Scarlet Monastary In Northeast.
3: Get A Group To The Instance(unless You Can Solo Monastary)
4: Enter Library(Instance Without Door To The Right)
5: Fight You Way Through The Whole Instance Untill You Reach Arcanist Doan(37 elite, Drops Illusinary rod, Very Nice For A Magican)
6: Kill Him :D
7: Find The Little Box In The Same Room With Him.
8: Open It, It Is NOT Locked.
9. Take The Scarlet Key(It Respawns Again So All Can Get It)
10: Make An Victory Dance Out.

If You Are A High-LvL Druid Or Rogue You Can Stealth/prowl To Him.

If You Are Strong You Can Just Kill All In Your Way.

Unlocks doors to Cath and Armory of SM - apparently used for somewhere else so i wouldn't delete it :p

It is found in box behind Arcanist Doan {found in last room of SM library}, everyone in party can take turns to collect.

It's good to note that you can also unlock the doors without this if you have skeleton keys and probably a rogue with a good unlock skill. (unless it's changed)

But I'd recommend you get this instead.

You get it in the end of SM library(in a small chest) and it is used to enter the SM Armory and cathedral also for the boss inside cathedral.

The Scarlet Key is found inside Doan's Strongbox, after killing Arcanist Doan in Scarlet Monastery, Library wing. The Strongbox isn't locked in any way, and the key can be looted by all party members.

The key is used to open the Armory and Cathedral wing of Scarlet Monastery, as well as Stratholme's Main Gate/Live/Scarlet Keep.

If you don't possess the key, you can always use a Rogue's Lockpicking skill of 175 to open the Scarlet Monastery doors. A person with Blacksmithing could also use at least a Truesilver Skeleton Key to open the door. Likewise, someone with Engineering could blow the door up with a Large Seaforium Charge.
