Private Weeks gives out one of the easiest chain quests here. The mobs can be pulled one by one and are easy to kill. However it would help to be in a party to make killing Grieve easier.

Grieve is in the main hut at 40,39. You only have to worry about the Advisor when attacking Grieve, the summoner in the room won't aggro

*Caution to rogues and druids... If you stealth past the guards to kill Grieve they will run in once he has been slain and begin to attack. So either have a vanish up, or get ready to dash outta there

The hunter patrols are what you need to watch for in this place. They can quickly bring 5-6 (including the 3 humanoid + succubus they start with) if you don't time it right. I managed to kill the boss on my own but it wasn't easy since hunters go into the keep on occasion making getting in and out a chore.

He is easy to kill... You can pull the Advisoir without pulling the boss. Then just solo him :P

If you have trouble getting into the Grieve's room like I did, you can die in the room and resurrect in the corner in front of the Grieve without aggroing him. The Hunter patrol does patrol in the Grieve's room so be careful.

The hunters pass each other at the front of the fortess and then walk towards the front gate in pretty close succession around the north side of the pond.

Head into the hills on the north side of the fortress (there are plenty of gaps in the gates to get in) and wait for them to pass. There will be two mobs at the front of the fortress (they were both summoners for me) and one inside the entrance (another summoner for me) who you have to fight to get in.

I confirmed that the advisor can be pulled without pulling aggro on Grieve. Did this as a 64 lock and Grieve was very easy to solo (level 65 non-elite).

bring a friend, the mobs respawn fast and they are close together. patrols can cause some trouble

Did this as a level 66 Fire Mage . Watch the Hunters as they can sneak up to you and gank you with a ton of their mates (and they aggro some others to you) . Shadowmaster Grieve can be ambushed by going right over the rubble once you enter the building

Easy soloable as a 63 shadow priest. Just kill the summoners and executioners first. Run as far in as u can in the hut, u will problably die ( i did). Spawn in corner and mind control the guard next to Grieve. When the guard dies (the one u mind control) he will aggro u and it is no problem killing him. The problem is now to come out alive :P

This is an easy quest. Start by clearing your way into the village, and then clearing the mobs around the pond. The 2 summoners standing on the ledge were bugged for me (they don't move when you attack 'em, but they still aggro and deal damage to you although you can still kill them if you're facing the right way).

After you've cleared it once (which scores some pretty good loot), clear your way inside the burned down building (the biggest one) to kill Shadowmaster Grieve.

As a 66 mage, this was really easy for me. I popped Vengeance of the Illidari + Combustion + Pyroblast, then sheeped the Advisor and just nuked the Grieve down.

The Advisor doesn't give any loot, but has pretty decent exp.

I don't know if it was coincidence or not, but when I walked into the room where shadowmaster grieve is (with a bunch of mobs walking behind me) and I walked up the wooden poles at the side of the room, I lost all the aggro I had, so apparently you can just rush in that room, run op the poles, lose the aggro, regenerate and then kill the boss ^^

The best way to solo this is to enter from the south side 36,40 and carefully take out the casters first while keeping constant awareness to the others around you. Try to clear as many enemies around you to keep aggro low (this will help when the pats come around).When the pats do come around just walk back down to the entrance until they pull back.Make your way back up quickly. You can use the pond as protection if the pat comes back near you.Just make sure you're in far enough. You'll be in front of the entrance to where Shadowmaster Grieve is (39,40). There should be 2 summoners and 2 minions. As a mage I sheeped 1 summoner, froze the 2 minions in place and aoe'd the minions while insta-casting as much possible on the other caster. Once again, if you plan on using this method make sure you keep them close and away from any nearby mobs but not close enough break your sheep from your aoe's(mages).
Once inside, kill a summoner and in the corner you'll find Shadowmaster Grieve @ 40,38with another caster. He's not difficult so long as you have the caster sheeped.
You can also try invisibility potions.

This was tricky as a non-shadow priest. I found the best strategy was to carefully kill the executioners and summoners from the safety of the enterance, and i killed the boss by running into the hold next to him, died, then rezzed in the corner behind him, and killed him easily one on one (the Advisor never agged... i don't think she's really hostile). The little corner behind him is agg-free :)

My strategy (64 Rogue): Entered from around 40,37 - fought to top of hill. Waited for the two separate Hunter+add groups and eliminated them (Hunters have large stealth detect / aggro range - be careful). Stealthed east into hall, sapped Grieve, killed nearby Summoner. Re-Sapped Grieve, killed advisor, killed grieve. Took out Summoners etc on exit. Then its a matter of heading back to the entrance and getting the rest of the mobs. Watch for the hunter respawns, these guys tend to be the only tricky part of this one - but it took me a death to wake up to this :p

This place is crowded, and the biggest problem is tagging Grieve before someone else does. You don't need a group for it - soloed on fire mage and shadow priest without problems. Just watch out for the patrols in the area.

easy - 65 mage. went up the south west side. watched out for the 4-6 man pats straight in and killed grieve. straight out ;-)

As a 63 feral druid this took me a while; a few deaths. There are a lot of roaming mobs with a fairly wide aggro radius. I would often get 2 or 3 adds. Pull them to a safe spot when at all possible.

Despite the top-rated comment describing this as the 'easiest quest ever', right now in TBC Classic, June, 2021 this quest is an absolute and total nightmare due to the one-minute respawn timer on mobs.

As a L65 BM Hunter with a turtle pet I didn't think I'd have any real difficulty - ha ha ha ha! After carefully working my way the the keep entrance, and carefully pulling the two summoners guarding it I thought I was doing OK - but no! Respawns right on top of me... mobs I'd literally killed a minute earlier caused a chain reaction of bad times. Pet died, no chance of resummoning as was surrounded by mobs. Only managed to survive by running into the water, reviving pet, which was at super low health, and I was out of mana to heal it - using pet as a brief distraction until cooldown on Feign Death was ready and continuing until I managed to find a relatively safe spot to recover.

Finally, after getting into the keep, after fighting three summoners, three Succubus', followed immediately by those stinking Hunters who crept up on me I killed Grieve and his merry band - who prompty respawned before I even had a chance to loot him. His respawn timer seems to be roughly 20 seconds. By the time I'd killed him again the freshly-respawned patrolling Troll Hunter had wandered into the keep to add to the misery.

I did it without any deaths, though it came right down to the wire on a few occasions, but it was hell. Absolute unadulterated hell. Hopefully the respawn timer will be back to normal by the time I take an alt through.

After you're done with that, report back to Lieutenant Gravelhammer at the Allerian Stronghold.
