Easy as a mage, get at 30+ range, let him hit you, sheep, get 30+ again, let him hit you resheep, etc. Bandage when needed. If you can get to something where the can't get you, aka where melee mobs would evade, they'll just constanty lightning strike you.

Hunters can just ping/pong him, with a pet 30 yds away. Have the pet hit him a few times, distrcting shot while your 30+ yards, let him strike you ones, then FD, and repeat.

Druids just root and heal.

If you die on this quest don't make the mistake I made of falling into the death's door subzone on the way to your corpse! It will take you a long walk to get out.

I have no intention of completing this quest because I want to keep the repolarized magneto sphere : )

This was fairly easy for my 66 hunter. What I would do was, tag one and dps it down to where it would take me about 1-2 hits to kill it, stand there with the shield on and monkey on and just let him hit on me. When I would get low on health, I would drop a trap down, bandage, and wait for the trap to finish. If I get low on health and bandage isn't up, I would kill it and repeat.

easy as hunter.

bubble up, serpent sting and keep hitting it. it will hit you with melee attacks (so use aspect of the monkey) and lightning. when you are at 50% (or whatever you think is best), freeze trap it, walk away and use bandage.

repeat. kill it with pet and melee if you get enough of it. move on to the other. the droprate of the glands was 100% for me, so you might want to kill it each 5 or 6 lightning's you take.

As a warlock... don't use your pet to hold aggro... put the shield up and hold aggro on your own. Put up siphon life and use drain life and you'll be fine. Should be able to absorb 4-6 lightning bolts per mob. Maybe SS yourself in case you accidentally do something stupid, but I was over half health the whole time.

If you want to keep the sphere instead of continuing the chain, you can abandon the quest without destroying it by placing the sphere in your bank before abandoning the quest.

I did this quest as a lvl 69 Demonology Warlock. And i found out a little trick for lock's to make it a little more easy and faster. When you see a Scalewing Serpent use the ''Shield'' and let the Serpent shoot Lightning strike on you. And then fear him with Fear rank 1! (Only last 10 sec's) So when the fear break's he will almost immediately shoot a Lightning strike on you. And then just repeat with Fear (Rank 1 ^^) =)

Go to coords: 69, 74 and look for "Scalewing Serpents"

Use the questitem which is called "Repolarized Magneto Sphere" and let the mobs involved in this quest shoot "Lightning Strike" on you. When the Serpents has shot 25 lightning strikes on you, you need to kill 5 serpents to loot "Scalewing Lightning Gland"(I had 100% droprate on this one) Then head back to Toshley's station and deliver the quest.

As druid i use only two of it. I root one and wait for lightning, after several shooting u can bandage yourself and no need to use heal at all. I did it with only two Serpent. And beware of hidden spiders!!!

If you do this quest in a group, everyone gets credit for all lightning strikes, and only the person actually being hit by the lightning needs to have the bubble on.

So if you do this in a group, only one person (the tank) needs to be bubbled, provided you make sure the tank is the only one to have aggro.

Yeah it is an easy quest - did it as a 70 prot paladin (just stood there in the blue bubble thing for ages) I got all 25 strikes from 1 serpent, as it didnt hit me for much and i could heal myself easily

However i decided not too hand in the quest and keep the Repolarized Magneto Sphere simply cos it looks cool ^^

For a lock the quest it's easy as it is for a priest. A lock can sacrifice the void (u need to "kill" 4-5 voids) and a priest can only use the shield.

As a warrior - i was thinking that this quest will be quite hard, providing that i cannot heal myself and have to stand in meelee range to kill things...

But in the end i found this little trick - equip your tanking gear (to get more hp^^) and slowly grind the mob down (you will get some 3-4 lightnings just from that alone) when the mob has some 5-10% hp left just hamstring him or Piercing howl and move away..... bandage and start "eating" the strikes...

If your hp gets too low - just kill him and find another one... gets you around 7-8 strikes instead of 2-3 by just killing the serpent.

Protection warriors also may ConcBlow him or hope for a Revenge stun - then move away...

As a rogue, I paired it with Ridgespine Menace. You can go in, take a bunch of lightning and vanish out.. collect them quickly. Bring lots of food and bandages.

Please when posting a helpfull tip please consider not everybody are the same class as you.
So, did with Warlock, or healer doesn't help anybody that isn't a healer or a Warlock.

The ligthnig strike cannot be interrupted, putting the shiled on increases the lighting damage.
The shield has 20 sec cooldown (activates the cooldown after canceled.)
Most of their damage comes from the Lighting.

You will lose the Repolarized Magneto Sphere when you turn in the quest or if you abandon the quest from your quest log.

So its either give up 10g, a green item (which you can sell for a couple gold), and the energy drinks and always have a quest taking up a space in you quest log to keep a useless green bubble like sphere -or- turn it in and get the 12g, energy drinks, and your quest log space back.

Im a shadowpriest(lvl 66) I found the spot and got 2 serpents after me, i bubbled and kept healing my self and used shadowfiend when i ran low on mana, i got the 25 pretty fast because of the 2 serpents and killed em afterwards, dont wonder about the droprate on the Lighting Glands, if u got the quest its 100%

As a rogue I let the first 5 hit me 3 times and them took them down. The glands dropped from each of them which means the drop rate is really high or i'm just seriously lucky. Then i had to fing about 3 more to complete with a bit of help from & bandages.

As a warlock i found another trick, just stand there and drainlife, it will keep your health up and make them hit you several times before dying

Easiest time ever on my Feral Druid, my "healset" (ie: mostly Feral gear with a few random instance drops no one wanted/quest rewards that had no good Feral gear) has just about 5500hp & only ~400 +heal - just stood there getting hit and using 1-stack Lifeblooms as my health went down. I'd just put it up, alt-tab and refresh once the previous one popped.

Just don't alt-tab and forget that stupid Gronn (Maggoc) that walks around, >.>

If you need to milk a bunch of lightning out of one serpent, just aggro one and run away without hitting them. They'll shoot 1-2 at you as you're running away, then de-aggro. Rinse and repeat.

I find it quite ironic that the gnomes pride themselves on having technology that's so safe compared to that of the goblins.

Yet in this quest they have you getting charred to the equivalent of a nice barbecued rib in order to power up one of their machines. Did I mess the memo?

I did this no sweat as a balance druid. But any druid can do this.
Just Turn on shield and entangling roots them and keep re-apllying it so the mob has nothing to do but lightning strike you. When ever you get to damaged just heal. so i got about 20 lightning srtikes needed out of 1 mob.

As a rogue you can force them to cast lightning at you by using blind or gouge.

Make sure you have Ridgespine Menace and Cutting Your Teeth, as these are all done in the same area

i just got bout 5 a kill, would pull then turn around and watch some of boon doc saints then, go back and kill it. EAt to full, lather rinse repeat.

Easiest quest ever for a new rolled Drenai Shammy, activate the bubble pop your Naaru, lay down either a mana totem or a healing totem and just sit there and heal yourself then nuke him down when oom first one i got 11 charges 2nd finished it off 2 kills quest done

This quest can be done at the same time as Cutting Your Teeth and Ridgespine Menace. And you can ride the Capacitor to get to the best location, that is, Razor Ridge, (66, 74) through (66,58). Just watch out for Maggoc, a level 70 Elite who likes to wander the same space.

The snakes didn't do enough damage (even with the lighting gizmo turned on) to make me all that worried as a 67 Warrior, but a Nature Protection potion might help people who get worried when they're down to 5% health. I went in with Juju Power running but no other buffs.

Being a cook, I always have enough grub to heal up between encounters. I was usually able to do 2 or 3 before chowing down. While doing this with the other two quests is a good idea, you might want to work on one monster type at a time; the others have Infected Bite (for the Raptors) and Poison (for the Stalkers) which would make you take even more damage.

The initial lightning bolt takes enough time so that you can do your first-strike routine before putting it up and absorbing it. And make sure to take it down between encounters (secondary-click on the "buff" near the mini-map) to avoiud the movement penalty. And of course when you see your 25th lightning bolt, turn it off for good and take it out of your action bar.

The rewards aren't great. I already have a Fel Iron Belt which is (1) better and (2) becomes way better as part of a set. The 10 Rage potion is pretty much laughable for an Arms warrior with Endless Rage and all the other Rage-generating Talents. But, you know, for an easy quest that can be done with others, why not do it?

I'd also abandon this to have a cool gizmo, but I already did that with Raene's Cleansing (the Furbolg transform wand) and I'd rather get to the end of the quest chain.

Hunters: make sure you turn your pet's growl off and pull each serpent yourself before your pet aggros. This way you should be able to absorb the lightening just fine. Have healing potion, food, bandages at hand. And activate the shield before you start attacking.

easy as pie for locks, dot em with siphon life, then drain life =], dont drain em too fast then they die before you get many zaps, but make sure your life stays about half obviously. simple simple simple.

I hate misleading information....especially when it can get you killed
but after playing wow long enough I know not to take everything blizzard says at face value, so I didnt just run in and aggro everything
but to save anyone else who might read this, the item in no way absorbs anything.
you still take full damage from the lightning which is a great deal
also it slows your movement, so make sure you only fight 1 at a time
and beware the 70 elite roaming

What a stupid quest! 'Go out and get zapped, and by the way you are going to take more damage than normal.' Don't hit too hard or you won't store any lightning before they die. Don't even consider taking a mate to help because they will get your lightning. It all relies on you killing them slowly and not dying from the higher damage. I pity the cloth wearing people but they make up for it by giving them a blue reward. Take some nature protection potions and lots of healing or better yet, a healer with low agro on their spells.

I found this also very easy as a warrior. I range pulled a serpent and kept backing away, as I backed away he'd fire, and I'd collect lighting, when he got close I only hit him with automatic (white) hits and turned and backed away in the opposite direction. I got the first 11 hits from one, the next 10 from another, and the rest from a final.

After reading the rest of the quest line and seeing the rewards, I'm abandoning this now. Not only is it not worth the effort, but by ditching this you can keep the repolarized sphere gadget and entertain yourself when your healer is on an AFK break in the middle of Arcatraz.

Really stupid quest. Each Scalewing Serpent deals 1-5 lightning strikes if you kill it in "normal" time. If you're a hunter, like myself, you can not let the pet hold agro since you won't be able to "collect" any lightning strikes if the beast doesn't attack you. So put pet on Cower and melee-fight! -.-
(Make sure to have lots of food and water since you will need one of each after every fight)
You find them around 68.68 in Blade's Edge Mountains, Outlands.

Grab "Test Flight - Singing Ridge", "Cutting your Teeth" and "Ridgespine Menace" than do the test flight. You'll land in the right area.

Edit: Apparently test flight can also land you in the middle of the crystals. Quests: "Crystal Clear" and "What came First, the Drake or the Egg?"

Ride the Lightning

Toshley wants you to use the Repolarized Magneto Sphere to absorb 25 lightning strikes from the Scalewing Serpents. As well, collect 5 Scalewing Lightning Glands. Then, deliver them back to him at Toshley's Station in the Blade's Edge Mountains.

We haven't kept the use of the Zephyrium Capacitorium under budget. But, it occurs to me that the serpents of the Scalewing Shelf to the east have a lightning breath and glands that we can make use of.

I've repolarized the magneto collector to absorb lightning strikes and I want you to head up there, activate it on yourself, and get us some cheap fuel from those serpents.
