31,36 / 32,37. - the location of Kolphis Darkscale. Once you have collected 5 scraps outside the cave, enter wearing the disguise and head straight to the back of the cave. head through the dialogue and leave the cave before the disguise wears off. Its a good time to complete the whelp capturing quest (Whelps of the Wyrmcult) because you do not aggro the guards when you fire the net whilst you are wearing the costume.

This quest is a pain in the ass. It's not hard getting the disguise, I got it about eight times already but every single time something breaks it just as I'm entering. May it be the horde, or some pesky little fire and each and every time I die and have to run back from Sylvanaar.

Step 1. Collect 5 Disguse scrapes from wyrmcult members in the wyrmskull tunnel Entrance 50,36
Step 2. Right click the 5 scrapes that makes the disguse
Step 3. Go through the tunnel to Ravenswood and follow the path to the end. Blackwing coven (cave) 31,33 .Just get close enough to the cave to put on the costume.
Step 4. Run into the cave and keep right. @ 32,37 .Kolphis is in a nook on the right near the end of the cave.
Step 5. Don't read the text just scroll through it till the quest objective is meet then exit the cave. ( you only have 3 minute round trip ) If you die, it's a long walk from the graveyard.

If you hurry you can buy Orb of the Blackwhelp (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=31337) from the Provisioner, he is to the left when you enter the cave. It's unique with 3 charges, 2g50s. I will post Screenshots eventually.

When I arrived at him for the first time, someone killed him right before my eyes to mine the vein just next to him. Of cource he didn't respawn before the disguise went off. So although you can use the disguise to avoid aggro on your way through the cave, you might concider fighting your way to him and putting on the disguise when you arrive and see that he's actually alive, which I did the second time.

One thing to add, if u take damage when u got the costume on, it dissapears.
So I farmed all cloth scraps (crap droprate btw) and used the costume, entered, jumped down the first cliff, and boom it disspeared. Had to start farming again, and died, omg had to run thrue the whole continent. ><

The above comments are correct but not sufficient. If you agro anything in there you will lose your disguise making everyone in close proximity attack you. This will most likely kill you (happened to me).

Best solution is to save the disguise until you are at the end of the tunnel.

If there is an opposing faction near by just wait a minute or two. Twice I had to walk with him out he attacked an opposing faction, furthermore they can just hit you once to knock the costume off to be facetious; the drop rate is horrible so its worth waiting a little bit for the area to clear.

Don't try to mine any veins when you are wearing the costume, it will cause it to disappear and you'll have to get five more scraps for another. :(

I just farmed 10 scraps before going in. Then I donned one costume at the mouth of the cave and ran in. I kept the other in reserve in case my time ran out. I was lucky though, that he was alive when I arrived and I was able to run back out before losing my disguise. So it probably is a better idea to fight your way into the cave and then use the costume when you get to him so it will last long enough for you to get out.

If you get to the Wyrmcult Blessed, the dragons that see through your disguise - you have gone too far! Kolphis Darkscale is in a little alcove along the way, he looks just like all the other cultists.

Be certain to speak to the Wyrmcult Provisioner (just left as you enter the cave) while still in disguise. He sells Orb of the Blackwhelp (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=31337) and Wyrmcultist's Cloak (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=31341), as well as a limited quantity of Unstable Mana Potions. Fun stuff.

Pretty easy quest I just did it few mins ago.. just go to the right and talk to all the people and then run fast to the left at the end of the cave kinda... and talk to one guy and he will give you this quest:

Another note about the disguise: even looting causes you to lose the disguise.

I recently used the disguise after killing Maxnar for the followup quest (just to get out quickly), and noticed a corpse that was still sparkling while making my way back - checking the corpse caused the disguise to break.

I think they upped the drop rate on these significantly. Previous chars (Paladin, Hunter and Mage), this step took the better part of an hour to get the 5 Scraps needed. My Druid just took me roughly 7mins to get them.

If you gain aggro from anything in the cave, you'll lose your disguise also.

Also, the disguise only has one charge, and if you lose it you have to farm 5 new peices.

Changins stance as warrior will make you loose the disguise. Looks like any action at all will make you loose it (apart from auto attack and special moves like blink /change stance. Stealth might be included to disguise-breaking skills)

Ok this quest really sucks. As i hunter i knew i couldnt buff myself while wearing the outfit. So i got the 5 scraps and i made the costume. I noticed my pet was still there, so i dismissed him. HUH!? my costume was gone.... After killing about 25 of the guys i got another 5 and tried it again. I took care of everything and walked in the cave. My costume was gone again!? I guess i walked to close to a torch.

So AVOID TORCHES.

Most frustrating quest I've done.

1. The costume scraps have a horribly low drop rate.
2. Forgot that it'll disappear if you don anything other than walk or talk to NPC, so I stealthed because some body came in office and wham no disguise. Ughhhh!.

If Stealthing is just moving in shadows well, why should it drop the disguise.? Wish Blizzard thought the real-worldness of this quest.

In Terrokar, I can understand a mob "seeing" through your disguise, but if the disguise is just a a physical costume then it shouldn't disappear?

The easiest way to get the Costume Scraps is to follow the 3 Outraged Rasen's Wood Sampling (yellow tree forms) through the forest. They will aggro anybody they see. All you need to do is tap their target. They will kill for you and you get the loot. I got 15 Costume Scraps until I was in the cave. And they cleared the way for me too.
The mobs in the cave can be painful though. Some transform just before they die, so the battle mostly lasts longer then intended.

if u die u suck lol

just go into the cave near the quest giver and keep killing the wyrm guys till u get 5 costume pieces.
then go to the cave near 31,36, kill the guys on the entrance, as soon u get on the cave floor, use the costume, go down the ramp, turn right and keep following the path till u find the guy, talk to him, complete the quest, run back out of the cave.

the 3 minutes is fine to do the quest and u can still go to the provisioner and buy some stuff, including that orb that turns you into a black whelp, cost 2gc and something.

Fun for doodads - While you're still in disguise, you can shift to flight form and fly around, while still looking like the Overseer. Just stay around the mouth of the cave.

You can collect the costume scraps from any of the cultists including those around the Ruuan Weald, Once you have 5 make the costume and move to the cave at 32,33, you'll need to clear a little way in until it allows you to equip the costume, but once you do you can walk through to the quest man and talk to him without having to worry about the mobs.

For me the yellow dot didn't show on Kolphis - so COORDINATES are nice to have so you're not running around trying to find the guy while you only have 3 minutes in your disguise. Cause if time runs out you have to gather 5 more scraps to re-build your disguise.

don't bother. run back is forever. you WILL die at least once. I failed the quest once b/c someone killed the quest mob and once b/c my costume just disappeared for no reason. and if you fail you have to get 5 more costume scraps and do it all over again.

After you gather all the costume scraps and put it together. Run inside because it doesn't matter if you aggro. As soon as you put on the costume, all aggro will wear off, then you can just skip like a little girl to the back of the cave and talk to Kolphis.

Location is a cave located at 32.34.

Non coord directions:

From Ruuan Weald head west over the bridge. A tunnel takes you into Raven's Wood. The tunnel contains several Wyrmcult followers. There is ledge along the left side that is less populated that makes the ride/run through a bit easier. Make a left when you exit the tunnel, through a bit of low hills and you will come to the cave. The road exiting the tunnel will also take you there after making an arch to the north west, west and then south west.

You will need 5 costume scraps to create a disguise that allows you to enter the cave and turns all the Wyrmcult followers green to you.

The costume acts like a buff and has a timer of a few minutes (3-5 I don't remember).

The scraps can be gotten as drops from the Wyrmcult huminoids in the tunnel you go through to enter the area. I would suggest you take the time to collect 10-15 scraps and maybe even 20. YOu will need at least 10 to make 2 trips into the cave, maybe 15 to create a 3rd costume if you want to walk out in peace and maybe a 4th costume (20 scraps) just in case you screw up.

Click on the scraps to create the costume, it will be placed in your pack. Click on the costume to put it on. You can not put it on until you are a short distance into the cave so you will have to clear/kill at least a few MoB's near the entrance.

The dragonkin type MoB's near the back of the cave (the ones involved in Maxnar) will see through the costume and attack. There is one relativly safe area in the cave near a mineral deposit.

There are three quests in this cave:

Meeting at the Blackwing Coven

Whelps of the Wyrmcult

Maxnar Must Die!

Maxnar is in a chain after Meeting so you will have to make at least two trips to do all three quests.

Costume Scraps can also be farmed from the Wyrmcultists just outside of Evergrove in Ruaan Weald.

They range from 60,41 upalong the camps on the western edge of Evergrove up to 60,34.

This quest is a major pain in the @$$! You get the scraps after killing anywhere from 20-100 guys (yes the drop rate was that bad for me). Then you put the costume on and when you get to the back of the cave you see people killing mindlessly. Now you have to go back out and do it all over again because the costume has a THREE MINUTE timer before it disappears! WTF BLIZZ?

O and i forgot to mention, aggro range of the wyrmcult is horrible. I would attack one and up to 3 more from as far away as 50yds would come running to his side instantly turning the fight into an instant wipe.

Skip this quest. Save yourself an hour of frustration. The quest rewards are junk anyway!

As a rogue, this quest is that much easier as you can collect the 5 costume scraps from Ruuan Weald and then head over to 32,33 and enter the cave in stealth. There's a convenient little side-cave by Kolphis Darkscale at 32,37 which allows you to unstealth, change into the costume and then chat with Kolphis (there's a nice chunk of Adamantite in the side-cave as a bonus). On the way out of the cave, don't forget to stop at the Provisioner - he'll sell you a nifty orb to turn you into a dragonkin and repair your gear :)

While in the Disguise, if you go in the cave to the left, you can buy a Orb from the Provisioner that changes you into a Black Dragonwelp for 15 min. Just somethign fun.

WARNING: no aoe / multishot when using the "minitreants" as a help getting the costume scraps.. elseway you'll aggro / kill the helpers themselves.. and IF they die.. only herbalist may loot.. great.. ^^

when you have the scraps: just enter the cave, jump down the ramp that leads out of it and head right. after 2-3 screenwidths you'll find the quest dude. to get that nifty costume thing (3 charges btw) just get back to the entrance but DON'T head out to the left but run straight into the minicave ahead. there's the guy selling coven stuff :)

32, 34 is cave entrance.

In spite of what several of these posts suggest, you do NOT have to fight your way into the Cave entrance. As soon as screen flashes "Blackwing Coven", you can put on costume (outside of entrance) and walk the rest of the way in. Make a right at the bottom of the entrance ramp, follow tunnel down, around and across bridge to Kolphis (he does NOT have a yellow dot, since he isn't a quest giver - you just have to look for him!). Costume wore off just after I talked to him to complete quest, so I had to kill him; the bright side was, just past him cave goes around a ledge to the room where Maxnar (subject of next quest) is. In between is a section with enough whelps and eggs to do the "Whelps of the Wyrmkin" gathering quest. Put on second costume during a lull, and left without further incident.

Oh BTW - you CAN forget about the lvl 70 Elite Dragon hovering about, because that's all he does besides make noise.

Two things I learned:
1) If you take ANY damage at all or interact with anything (opening the eggs) the costume expires.

2) Cool effect - if you are a druid and swift into flight form with the costume on...It takes the game like 30secs to realize you swithed form - so you can fly around as a Draenai (you flap your arms lol).

As a mage, this quest was incredibly simple. Once you hit 68 and get invisibility, just go invisible and walk right into the cave and while still invisible, switch into your costume. Walk to the back of the cave, talk to the guy, and run right out. Very easy.

This quest isn't all that bad. I'm a hunter, and they resisted my fd, but I still think that this quest was fine.

Talked to the guy in a matter of seconds, and got my whelps really fast, if anything, the only annoying thing is, when the npcs get the blessing. Which adds more life to them.

I saw a adamantite deposit and i figured since i had a couple minutes on the buff i would stop and mine for a second WRONG....mining takes you out of disguise....why well cause blizzards retarded. I'm just happy I get to make the long run back

Cave Entrance is 32,33

I heard it was a long walk if i was to die, so as a 68 hunter any doubt your pet isn't going to make it, run back a little and feign. If you know how to pull you shouldn't have any problems with this quest, i only had to feign once, the entrance to the tunnel has lots of mobs in agro range, you end up pulling 3-4 at a time.

Quest is easy and have nothing special. Get 5x scraps for costume, go to cavern at 32.34. You can kill mobs outside it, but it is not realy needed. put on costume (3 mins buff) and go inside to boss (aprox 31.37. Near SW conner). Dunno what about detecting you by mobs, but I can tell that whelps don't remove buff of you then you are far from them for 3 meters.

VERY IMPORTANT! You cannot be in shadow form for the costume to work, and the error message just says you are not in the area. If you are near the cave you are in the right spot, the problem is shadow form.

For the benefit of everyone like me, who enjoys cute things, I have tested whether you can obtain the costume after completing the quest. This was done at great risk to me, and I can confirm that you can, in fact, get the scraps and buy the orb. Life is good.

For me the costume scraps only dropped from the poachers around Evergrove - almost 100% drop rate. I tried it with mobs outside the cave and in the tunnel, but zero.

As of Dragonflight, this is what worked for me:

Go to /way 32, 33. and enter the Blackwing Coven. I found that the costume scraps have a fairly high drop rate from the mobs inside the cave. Around a 30% chance.
Once you have 5, go back outside the cave, away from any mobs, combine the 5 scraps in your inventory and put on the costume.
Go back inside the cave and the NPC you're looking for will be standing in an alcove at the south end of the interior map at /way 32.65, 37.49. (Go down the ramp, turn right at the bottom, then turn left).

Bear in mind that the costume has a countdown timer of a couple of minutes, so once you put it on, do not interact with anything and go straight to the NPC and talk to him.

Gather up enough Costume Scraps from the various wyrmcultists to create an Overseer Disguise. Use the disguise to attend the meeting with Kolphis Darkscale, and report your findings back to Tree Warden Chawn at Evergrove in the Blade's Edge Mountains.

I know what must be done! <name>, you must pose as Overseer Nuaar and attend that meeting!

The wyrmcultists at the coven all have a standard outfit that they wear, so go collect scraps from them, and when you have enough, put together a disguise.

Pose as Overseer Nuuar and speak with Kolphis Darkscale to see what he has to say, and then return to Tree Warden Chawn.

You'll find the coven by heading through the Wyrmskull Tunnel and following the path past the Raven's Wood and Grishnath to its end.
