Easily soloed as a 68 Rogue - I simply stealthed to the Wyrmcult Blessed, killed the two of them, and proceeded to kill Maxnar. Though he isn't an elite mob, he has quite a bit of health.

Such a pain...Just died three times doing this. Would have been fine all times, but the dragons that are by him decided to respawn about 30 seconds after I killed them. Much running turns into much hatred for this quest.

Just realized theres a nice section behind him that you can run through to avoid these respawns.

Was pretty easy once you put on the disguise and walk all the way to his two guards. Killed them easily also and went to bash Maxnar's head :) He does a knockback sometimes, so keep your back on the wall. Has some high hit points for his level though.

It was pretty easy.
go inside the cave, be carefull with pulling mobs, but if you're lucky there are already some mobs dead by other players.
Then Pull those 2 guards 1 by 1 and kill them, mana/hp up and go for the boss, he's soloable.
The thing you just don't need to do is die.
Alliance 20 min corpse run, Horde 15min.

Realy easy. Just "farm" 5xCostume Scraps in the "first cave" (between thouse 2 spots) and then right-click it and you will recive Overseer Disguise and then its really easy, just use it at the cave as Maxnar is in and you can "bypass" everyone.
Oh, and dont forget to listen on some good music when you do this ;)

you can just pull him back behind him if you are a rouge/druid. he is easy to kill (got around 11k life)

i also used the idea of using costume but beware the dragonkins see through your disguise, i found out the hard way here i am doing my 10mins corpse run
1 more thing, he does knockback so if you try to take him from behind without the mobs dont get knocked off or it will be quite lol

Simple quest as a mage. Use fireward, get the overseer costume, run to Maxnar ( 33, 35) kill ads, use invisibility and run out, 10 minutes it took.

Just a quick note, do NOT stand near the ledge behind him, because when I did it, he did an attack that through me off the freakin ledge, and into like 4 mobs, and i died. Face a wall or something.

You can now die in the cave by the provisioner, then run back all the way through the cave, rez by the torch, and only have to kill Maxnar. Took me less than 5 minutes.

Just my little two cents.

67 elemental shaman at time of completion. I farmed five scraps for one costume and Astral Recalled out. Other classes might want another costume to get out.

When I got to him, his guards were on a short pat. I ran up to them in costume and they initiated combat. Killing the guards was easy. Did this fight right next to a whelp and it didn't aggro.

Without guards to worry about, the fight against Maxnar was very easy. 10k hp = 10 lightning bolts :). Skinned afterwords and picked up some Nether Dragonscale!

Not as bad as many of the comments above suggest.

get a costume, sneak in, go around to the left, when you get back by the entrance but up top is where the guy is, turn the corner and pull each guard one at a time. Then go in and get him solo, drop off the back and your by the provisoner, kill a few mobs and your back outside.

If you step on an egg just stay out of aggro and after a couple of mins it will die, and it never moves so not really an issue with the eggs.

Much easier way to do it:

Run to the provisioner to the left of the cave when you enter, die to the right wall where he's at. Run with your spirit around to the back of the cave and spawn behind Maxnar. Kill him, done. No costume farming or anything

Ez mode as a lvl 67 feral druid, stealth in, kill the small dragonkins, pop the eggs so u dont get any surprises when u fight the big guy, you can pull the 2 guards with no problem at all as they patrol from him to the bend, then its just you and him, throw on lifeblooms and rejuvination and charge!!!, maul/mangle till dead didnt even heal and still was on 75% hp, he does mortal strike you so if u need to heal do it in between.

Thought I'd let all the oldschool UBRS runners know that the eggs in this cave are the same as the ones in UBRS; they crack open when you approach them. So don't go pulling any LEEROOOOOOY's while you're in there.

uhh i somehow bugged it and just flew through the cave to maxnar on my flying mount and didnt agro anything >>

i tried to mount again after i killed him and got the typical error message "you cant mount here" so i had to fight my way back out ><

i thought maybe if you stay at the top of the cave as youre flying in, it wont dismount you, but when i got back outside i tried to do it again and couldnt replicate it.. oh wells.

Just a note to you desto locks and fire mages that he IS heavily resistant to fire. He's pretty bad, so even using fire you can kill him, but don't start with half health or something silly. For those of you looking for an alternative, frost nova + ice lance works relatively well. Frostbolt too.

There is quite alot of mobs in this cave I advise you not to solo this if you are any class with low hp as you may bum into 3 mobs at a time and can be frustrating.

This quest is one of those that is definately more trouble than it is worth if you try to solo it. The NPCs respawn very quickly, the imps hit for 800 and there are tons of them and, as horde, if you die you run all the way back from Thunderlord Stronghold - about 5-6 minute corpse run. Waste of time that could be spent more constructively elseshere in my opinion.

as a holy priest I gave up after an hour... I couldn't get far enough into the cave without respawns making me have to run all the way out and start over again and again

Well I was trying to grind some XP in the process and I was looking for pieces for the disguise so I started chopping my way into the cave (BTW Im warrior 35/21/3) So I go left in the cave and end up dying from a couple of mobs a little ways down. SO I get back in the cave and instead of Rezing where I died I decided to go look for him and find the shortest route while I was dead.
I found him and realized I could rez just down the hall from him. Rezed killed a couple of whelps and pulled the 2 guards one at a time with my gun. Killed him fairly easy as when he started to cast his flamebreath I used pummel to interupt.
To get out I jumped off the ledge I rezed at and started fight 2 mobs thinking I was going to die again, instead though I said screw it and used Intimidating shout and made my break for it, one caster mob standing at the doorway pummeled and kept running, spammed Piercing Howl so noone could keep up popped a potion just in case and home free.

So I didnt get to grind out the XP but hey completed the quest ;)
So warriors, might have to take a death but I dont know an easier way for us to do it outside of throwing on the costume. good luck

If you use a costume, talk to the provisioner, he has a nifty orb you can buy. It has 3 charges and can turn you into a whelp for 15 mins, vanity item, though. So if you get hit, you'll be popped fomr whelp form.

For those of us without coords, he is located in the same cave that the Dragon Whelps that you collect are in. Once you walk in, he is straight across from the entrance, up on the ledge (you should see at least one dragon whelp flying there); once up there, the cave curves back to the left. There are 2 Blessed Draginkin protecting him, but it's easy to take them out without pulling him. Rest, then take him on. Easy as a 66 Rogue solo.

only thing I would add is that the two Blessed can be pulled on their own so would suggest you take them out of the equation first before looking at killing the main guy...

Accidently pulled both Blessed guys at the same time - close(ish) call for a 68 shadow spec priest. The actual boss wasn't too hard, got me down to 92% health and 50% mana. Unlukily, I got killed running out (too lazy to kill them all). Rezzed at the ghost at Sylvanaar.

Easy a hell? It depends.

Soloed as a 69 undead warrior, but took me a bit to kill him.

Be sure to open (you just stand near of them and they'll open) every dragon egg you see near 33.35 (cords. confirmed, he's near the other "boss" you had to talk) near him , because they can be a pain in the ass if they catch you when you're killing Maxnar. First time i tried, i was killing Maxnar when two little dragons appeared. I concentrated on him, but three fireballs by the fuc**** dragons and i was killed. Second time, i killed every dragon i saw, and yep, easy... Maxnar falled down :D

You can also use a disguise (from the preceding quest), enter the cave, find a secure place (with only a few mobs)near the first boss, take off the disguise, kill them and find Maxnar.

And NO, it's not a stupid quest, you receive 14950 px and an item you can sell for more than 3 golds, so if you think this kind of quests are ridiculous, please leave the game!

Got 10 pieces of cloth again. Outside is easiest as you can pick a safe spot to fight. Make 2 new disguises. Use the first to walk into the cave all the way up to the Maxnar. Kill Maxnar (click disguise buff to get rid of it). Use 2nd disguise and walk out.

easy solo for 68 hunter

the most annoying part was the whelps that respawned...theyre firebolts did ~800 dmg per cast...

rogues or anyone with stealth, it is very easy.
stealth all the way to the guy, throw a distract and get behind him.
when the pats move away for a second, ambush or whatever you want. pull him back into the cave, so no agro.
Then easy fight.

Not many people here enjoy a challenge it seems :|

The only thing that annoyed me was the long corpse run, so long that for someone that never EVER takes rez sickness, I did today, twice!

I died for stupid reasons mainly, the quest and the follow-on quest were relatively easy when you know where to go.

I used 3 outfits for this quest & they all seemed to break immaturely for reasons I couldnt understand. :)

Soloed as a 69 UD warrior. Either use a disguise to get where his two guards are without a fuss or just fight your way through to him (More experience!). He has a throwback so be sure to clear any pathing mobs including any of those whelp eggs. Also remember if you're on the Whelps from the Wyrmcult quest to use the nets should you get aggro from any whelps.

Does decent hits and a MS... nothing to worry about realy.
Atleast thats what I thought untill he toasted me with a 3.5k flame breath :p so watch it.

edit: don't die cause you'll have to run back all the way from sylvanaar..

Easy as 66 Frost mage, I solo'd the whole way up to Maxnar. Didn't even get a chance to hit me. He spawns rather fast though almost caught me off guard.

this is one of the lamest quests i have ever seen in this game... after i died once near the wyrms cause they spotted me even in the costume and then they pulled even more, i run back, manage to get to the boss, where i was standing in the middle and then he knockbacked me..so i fall down the cliff and had to clear the whole cave again, i can recall one more death cause the mobs have chain-aggro.....thumbs down, lame, not well care taken quest....you get the picture

lvl 67 Rogue, dropped him with 89% health left. Kicked his first flame and soaked up his second with cloak of shadows.

This guy has health but that's about it.

69 Paladin (BrocStoneskn)

Cleared down the ramp from the opening, and took out mobs at bottom. Hit my Overseer's costume and went to the right, past the first guy I talked to earlier in the chain. When I made it up to the small bluff above where I killed the others, I debuffed the costume and took out the single whelp flying around. Waited for the two dragonkin to separate and pulled each one at a time. Ran in, faced my back to the wall (thanks for the knockback warning) and took Maxnar down with no problems.

I did have some +HP buffs, but don't think they were necessary.

what you guys failed to mention is, there are the blessed ones (the wyrms) inside, and they can see through your disguise and will attack you. other than that, not that hard fight.

As a rogue you can sneak right back to him and wait behind him, as there is plenty of room. Don't even bother with the two Dragonkin in front of him. Once they are far enough away, pull him back towards you. It's a quick and easy fight as long as you remember to interrupt his spellcasting. Watch out he also has a knock-back so try not to stand on the ledge or something. Heal up if you need to and head out.

Solo with a 66 moderately equipped hunter.

Went in with disguise...got picked out by the blessed. (As expected) Took the two blessed, Maxnar and two whelps head on. Got completely owned.

After the unbelievably long dead run, rezzed behind him and healed up.

Pulled him away from the blessed and took him out with melee. Which is of course not a hunter's forte...but easy enough. The blessed roamed around but never got close enough to grab aggro.

unless you have a leveling partner dont do this quest.

Level 70 warrior trying to finish up quests for cash, got costum and ran to end of dungeon only to get uncovered by the wyrms, die to 2 of them because i had no idea.

After a frickin 6 min run i was unable to spawn without 2 adds.

Used a health pot and poped recklessness, still died to 2 adds starting with 1/2 health.

decided to spirit rez instead of risking another run and repair.
Ended up 13g and 15 minutes in the hole at level 70 with lionheart blade.
Whoever made this quest NEVER tested the zone, completely idiotic spawn rate and GY location.

As a 67 fire mage this is the hardest quest I can recall doing for a while.

Important information for fire mages - (at lvl 67 anyway) he will resist hugely yr fire spells. I soon abandoned that approach.

Died 6 times on this. The final time I killed him and completed the quest.
Reset an action bar with
frostbolt-nova-coneofcold-icelance-arcane blast-arcane explosion.
Thats how I finally killed him (tho' was a kamikaze fight.)

Other information of note:
When you enter in disguise you can buy a +24 fire resistance cape for 10g from the provisioner.
I bought it just because I thought that it wld be useful in instances, then realised it is there for the boss fight.
Even with mage armour, the cape, fire ward, his fire was still hitting me 300. His melee atk is ard 300-400 and he has cleave 450 and mortal strike 400.

This quest blows, you will do the longest corpse run of your life several times. It'll take so long that you'd rather have res sickness. What is blizzard thinking? Blade's edge must be designed by the same idiot that designed original barrens layout when there was only one flight path in XR.

The corpse run isn't near as bad as people say. Takes 3 minutes to get back to the cave. If it took you 10, you wandered around a lot.

I had read what everyone said about the quest, so ran as far back into a safe corner as possible (don't fall off the ledge in the back) and then spend the 3 minutes to run back to the cave. Rezz up in the corner behind him on his right. Heal/mana up and then when the blessed ones path back down the ramp pull him back to that area and give him the beat down. Took me 8 minutes total after my death to kill him and hearth out.

33, 35 in cave.

This wasn't nearly as hard as I expected... longest part was killing enough Balckwings to make two costumes. Wore first one on way in (go around tunnel, across wood bridge and up to get to ledge); then took off costume and cleared whelps from area. Maxnar is in room with 2 Blesseds that wander about; drew one wehen it was near entrance, second came along but it didn't take long to take out both. That left Maxnar, I attacked him with pet but he aggro'd onto me after first shot - so I took him toe-to-toe (which is not something a Marksman Hunter says, much less does, every day!). Put on second costume, jumped down from ledge, and exited without a fuss. Didn't even lose 1/2 health, and only needed one drink to replenish mana. Easy solo for a hunter!

Pretty tuff for my 66 hunter - died 3 times - fire damage just wrecked me(graveyard is close by).

Went in wearing one costume and one extra in the pack - should have brought more ;)

Getting to Maxnar - clearing the area - killing Maxnar was easy enuf... getting out of the cave was a different story (see above where I mention more costumes). Feign Deathed about 4 times trying to get out ;)

Watch for the little cone/spore lookin things on the ground in the cave - they spawn those nasty little fire breathing whelps if u get too close.

Soloed as 67 resto shammy. Due to pure lazyness i didn't bother to get the 5 costume pieces again. Instead i ran through and managed to get to the small coven near the guy i had to talk to in the last quest. I self-ressed there and healed up etc. Had to take on 1 whelp and then the npc. After that i just took down the mobs 1 by 1. Made sure to avoid the eggs and then got my earth elemental out for killing Maxnar. Not the easiest quest but nice xp anyways :]

Worst corpse run ever, not to mention that I got killed a second time thanks to Blizzard's feign death bug that they haven't fixed for 3 months now.

Otherwise, this quest is cake. Just grab a costume and run to the end, kill two blessed's and the boss.

69 Hunter did take Overseer Disguise in to where he stands at 33,35. did run behind him (obs, he and the other 2 around him hits even if you have disguise on you). Did Feign and pet out, if you get Maxnar so faar away from the other two you will not aggroing them, did it easy and only did use one freezing trap to heal the pet. It was no problem... but otherwise hunters can feign death and they got traps.

Combine with Whelps of the Wyrmcult. Enter cave, take a right down the path, over the bridge, and just past the guy you costumed in to talk to before, there is a sweet patch of ground with only 1 mob, a couple of whelps and several whelp eggs. Once you've completed Whelps, just take a hard right and you'll see 2 dragonkin. Pull them one by one (easy kills) and just behind them stands Maxnar (again, an easy kill).

From what I just experienced, the two dragonkin 'guards' respawn very quickly. If you can pull them off and kill them before engaging Maxnar, then run behind him, because the two guards will respawn before you can down him.

I don't know if you caught a glimpse of him while you were in there, but he's one of the dragonkin, half-man, half-dragon. And he's tough, so don't underestimate him!

Finish it quickly and with any luck you'll secure the safety of Evergrove and the Ruuan Weald.
