The Bonestripper Buzzards can be found just to the South East of Honour Hold.

These guy have a little trick you might want to watch out for. They can smell death. When you kill one of them, another will attack you, then another, then another. It seems they smell the dead corpse and fly towards it, as they approch you aggro them.

The goblin NPC right next to the one that gives this quest ,"Screaming" Screed Luckheed, also gives a quest to collect Zeppelin Debris (In Case of Emergency...https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10161). The area just South-East of Honor Hold where there is a large amount of the Bonestripper Buzzards also had a much larger concentration of the parts needed compared to most places that I saw running about. Fairly east to knock them both out at once.

The first 8 dropped immediately for me, unfortunately the last 4 took over 25 kills.

So I either got really lucky for the first 8, or unlucky for the last 4.

Either way, it's an easy quest and with how many it took me definetly worth it on rested XP, you average 950xp per kill.

The drop rate for the wings is very low. So you might wanna be patient. >_<

Also, when you fight them, its better if you pull them away from the other mobs so they don't "smell death" and attack you.

Drop rate is around 1 every 5. It is slow but I've seen worse.

Careful killing the buzzards. Killing one can attract another nearby one. If you are runnign low on health back away from the buzzards so none will come while you are trying to eat/bandage

I did not get any of these to drop off random buzzards in this area.
However, any time I killed one that was next to the bone piles on the ground, they always had a plump buzzard wing.
I don't know if nobody else has noticed it yet or not, but seems true enough for me.
Try it, kill some out in nowhere, then kill some by the bones coming out of the ground.
I'm 7/12 right now, heading straight for the bone piles to finish up

edit: confirm, at least for me, the birds at the bones drop them pretty regularly. And I just got wtfpwned by a fel reaver typing this. LOL

It isn't as bad as they have all made it sound... if you combo it with In Case of Emergency... the one where you collect the debris, you should end up with both finished around the exact same time.

Did it in less than 20 mins with a 61 human warrior. The drop late was low. But, not as low as i thought. maybe i was lucky.. nonetheless, they were easy to kill and gave good xp.

I tested the bone thing and found out that the drop rate is increased TREMENDOUSLY! It took me less than 5 minutes to do that quest. The wings drop off almost every single one of those buzzards. Definately worth doing. These are good for grinding too, low level, low HP and give good exp.

I was HAPPY when i found out how low the droprate is! these buzzards hav like a 40% chance to drop buzzard meat and like a <20% chance to drop the wings so ill hav lots of meat for this new recipe without having to kill those stupid buzzards

Just from my experience
I found the birds too the south of the gorge at 62, 67 had a better drop rate then the ones at the northern end. No idea why. Also some of the birds up the northern end would bug.

Wow, I was not getting a 25% drop. I cleared the whole valley more then twice. I had 66 Molted feathers, 37 Buzzard meat, and 21 Light feather. At least the go down easy. And 2 nice Greens dropped too. But I guess as always don't expect the drop rate to be exactly as stated for you.

Droprate was pretty bad for me around Honor Hold. I'd suggest trying the alternate places other folks are suggesting

Just as a warning, the wings DO NOT drop off Bonestripper Vultures near the Temple of Telhamat. I thought I'd just do it there seeing as I was in the area, and didn't notice the Vulture/Buzzard distinction.

The NPC for this and the Other cooking quests is named Legassi, and this is undoubtly a reference to Emeril Legassi the TV cook from Louisiana.

Confirmed - the birds around the bones have a much better drop rate than the others so stick to them. The Fel Reaver does roam around here to watch out. The birds have this annoying stun thing they do around 50%-25% so be forewarned. Also, when you kill one, the other birds will sense the corpse and come running. Usually not a big deal but just a heads up not to go into crowded areas.

Drop rate is about 15-20%. It's amazing that so many of these buzzards manage to live without wings.

I actually like having them alot of them group up on me makes it easier to collect the wings since i can knock out about 7 in a row.

did this as 61 pally. was very easy id aggro 3-4 at a time and aoe. and when got down to low health i bubbled. drop rate was low for me, but i think its different for every person.

This is an excellent quest for chefs who just hit Outland with 300 cooking. You'll get a level 300 recipe and the grind will give you regs to level Cooking to 325 easily.

Found the buzzards at the cords as per previous post.
Low drop rate though of the wings (at least in my case).
Nice way to get some xp though if u want to spend the time on it...

droprate seemed about the same as the rate for the buzzard meat that the recipe uses when you learn it. It's actually a pretty nice quest if you're a cook: a healthy snack, a recipe, meat drops for making more healthy snack after learning the recipe, and finally a good use for those darn buzzards that keep getting in the way. There's even a cooking fire right next to the turn in point! My drop rate wasn't that bad, but it probably doesn't hurt if you have to kill a few extra, anyway.

I have seen a lot of posts for different quests where someone has good drop rate in one location but another person gets good drop rate in another location. I always assumed it was just happenstance. But I killed Bonestripper Buzzards in a lot of places with virtually zero drop rate. Then I tried 58,74 and got very decent drop rate. If I wandered very far from there, didn't seem to get get any. For what it's worth.

Around one in six birds killed yield the desired wing. 67 kills 12 wings. 20 minute's in total as a 61 Boomkin. Coor correct.

Drop rate not the greatest...but thats the way it seems to go with collection quests. I seemed to average about 1 in every 5 to 6 kills. I did the zeppelin debris quest at the same time so it wasn't a total loss, finished them both approx the same time. Keep an eye out for Fel Reaver and the helboars. And as a bonus got a few light feathers for my mage guildie and a few greens.

Very quick at vally of bones (60 69) i got around a 70% drop rate 2 evey 3 kills.

But the food is really jummy!

Killed about 30 buzzards and didn't see one. Abandoned the quest and went back and got it again and proceeded to kill about 15 more. Still didn't see any. Quest is bugged as f*** on Darkspear. >.<

the droprate rocked on this quest! it was about 2/3 of the time that i got wings at 64,68. This also happens to be a great grinding place! at least for druids! just go into bear form, grab like 4 of them and swipe til they all go down! eaaaaaaaasy XP

For me the drop rate sucked as it does almost everytime i grind something, thou there is a good thing too, i dinged (lvl 61) when i was duin this quest, BEFORE turning it in :D

It's either changed, or I was lucky. Valley of the Bones, drop rate was roughlt 45% and I got all of them very quickly. Ran in as a rogue, collected about 5 of them. Popped Blade Flurry, Bladefists, Adrenaline, Evasion. Slaughtered the lot of them and got 3. :)

To complete this quest you need to bring 12 Plump Buzzard Wing to Legassi at the Zeppelin Crash.

Follow the east direction and keep moving until you see skeletons in the ground. There are also many of them to the east can be seen from afar.
There are mobs all around the skeletons you need to kill to loot Plump Buzzard Wing - Bonestripper Buzzards - drop chance is medium.

HINT: As a reward you will ge provided with Recipe: Buzzard Bites - keep all dropped Buzzard Meat so you can cook some to increase your cooking skill above 300

Screed likes to say his flying is as "smooth as butter." I think "butterfingered" is more like it!

Take a look at the wreckage over there. He calls it a "rough" landing.

Sure, we got shot at, but I'd be willing to cut him a little more slack if he didn't brag about his piloting skills so often!

I think I'm going to make him a batch of wings to drive the point home. To the east, in the Valley of Bones, you'll find bonestripper buzzards. Their wings are plump, juicy, and perfect for my needs.
