The tower is located on the road in-between the lumber camp and the elite part of hearthglen (there's a picture of a tower on the map where it's located). The holy relic is in a box located at the top of the tower (in-front of you as you reach the top of the stairs).

The quest is solo-able, but it's worth doing it in a pair if you can.

I was smart... i did Unfinished Business (elite part) while I was on the last part of the Fordring series and you get the disguise (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=5862)

However, I didn't see (or realize) this quest was in the same area and can easily be solo'd without having to fight anything if you are under disguise. Woulda been a free 6200 + 7750 xp +600 Exodar rep.

I've had my share of getting ganked in Hearthglen and am looking to skip over this quest since I missed my chance at easy-mode. I can grind the XP from the lvl 60 Scholo/Strat etc and farm AV turn-ins (esp Storm Crystals) if I find myself in need of Exodar rep.

Just a warning Sometimes a Lv63 Elite Rare is also guarding the bottom of the tower on the inside to the right, this can be solo'd (LV57 HolyPaladin) But not if he is around.

At this time, all the tower mobs at the top level aggro instantly, making the fight extremely challenging, certainly not soloable by non-pet classes.

Difficult to solo this quest, but definately possible. Solo'd as level 56 Shaman. The mobs were 3 frost mage's(1 pat) and a named mob Captain Durgen. Took a major health potion, and a whipper root tuber. I would advise bringing a friend if you're a non healing class to complete this quest.

There is a rare elite that spawns, level 63 named "Scarlet High Clerist." Perhaps he spawns after you complete this quest and open the chest, as he was not in the lower room as I entered the tower.

Soloed this as a level 57 elemental shaman - i didnt have elites spawn on me, just a named npc and the 3 mages. Wasn't too difficult, just popped a mana pot.

This is just plain not soloable by a squishie, at least not at level 59. You WILL take a crapload of hits, so bring a tank or at least a leather-wearer.

Also, I would love for the people who claim that it is possible NOT to pull the mobs all at once to go into more detail.

Just soloed it at 56 Warlock. At the bottom, I feared one, sent pet (Felguard) to attack one and I myself attacked one. Got this settled down, moved up to the top of the tower, pet got one, feared 1 and attacked 1. My pet got killed, I used Howl of Terror to fear 3 of them for few seconds, it was just enough time for me to open and loot the quest item. Run away and done!

solo'd as lvl 57 warlock (afflic spec)

3 guards at ramp (you can pull one solo, but the other two are too close together and you pull them both)

--1 twink patrolling perimeter just after ramp
--1 guard patrolling staircase
--3 twinks inside building on base level (you WILL pull them all, be careful, and try to time it so you don't attack when the staircase guard pat is coming down)
--3 twinks at top of tower (you WILL pull them all. you can time it so you only pull one, but the other two are roving and will definitely attack).

The item is at top of staircase, but you can't get it without pulling the 3 twinks at the top.

all enemies lvl 57-58.

twinks use frost trap and hit for roughly 250 each frostbolt. armed guards hit for ~60 each.

don't know how I would've done this without voidwalker to take agro. Best to bring a friend. things can get ugly really fast.

Don't worry! If you don't see Truuen around, that just means he has taken another group on an escort quest. No worries, he'll come back.

this wasnt easy for my 55 lock, had to res right beneath top of the tower, pull the named guard, then bring my felhound in to eat those mages.

Easy to solo as a level 60 Hunter, the pet took all of the aggro and I just shot the mobs from a safe distance but beware of the Scarlet Pally he has a lot of HP

If he's not in the camp, he's at the tomb.
If he's praying and you can't hand in, do like this.

If you're having trouble with Truuen being stuck praying, get 2-3 mobs to follow you to him and have them kill him. In about 2-3 minutes he will respawn at the camp.

Run to the camp, get the quest, escort him.
(Great quest for stealthies, then you just need to kill the mobs that will spawn and attack you and not the one around)

Read at the follow quest at wowhead and read my post how to do the escort easy and soloable.

solo'd as 57 frost mage, just send ur water elemental up and make sure he takes aggro, loot the chest fast, jump down (use blink right before u hit the ground). It's possible. but aint easy.

just run up to hearthglen, you can avoid all the mobs at the entrance by running along the hills till you get to the tower.
fully spawned, there's one that roams around the entrance of the tower, two at the entrance, one roaming around the inside of the tower, two inside the bottom level, and three on the top level.
no higher than level 57 and even the three were easy to get all at once if you just mana and health up on the staircase before you pull them. i used psychic scream once and had VE and VT on them all at the same time.
the chest is right on the top level and you can just jump down the tower, mount and run back to chillwind camp to turn it in to the draenai.
if he's not there, someone else is doing the next step to the quest.
i got there right when someone was starting the escort quest, and watched it happen. it takes maybe 10 minutes max as he walks through sorrow hill.
even if all the mobs in sorrow hill are dead, he will have 2 after him right at the entrance, and another mob of 4 right before you get to uther's tomb.
all easy to kill.
you then watch the dialogue at the tomb and run back to chillwind camp to turn in the quest to the lady standing next to him.
it took about a minute for him to respawn to his original location.
so if he's not there when you go back to turn this in, wait a couple minutes and you'll see him respawn.

For those without coord addons, the tower is not IN Hearthglen, it's on the way - along the dirt road leading up to Hearthglen.

i knew where the tower was. saw a lvl 61 priest going the opposite direction. Crossed my fingers.. went straight up the tower.. no one!.. only a lvl 57 dude i finished him off easily. got the mark. by the time i got downstairs.several scarlets had popped up. Caution respawn time IS fast. divine shield. Ran.. healed.

well i soloed this guest as my 57lv warrior, died only once but this respawn time is so ridiculous. But thanks to intimidating shout and firstaid i complete this.

I solo'd easily by taking one (or two) mobs at a time, going up the tower, even as a 58 feral druid. The trouble I had was when I went to turn in... he didn't have the ?, and I couldn't open a dialogue. I wonder if the quest was broken in some patch...

I don't think it's been removed because I picked up the quest earlier today (Dec 13th) in Chillwind Camp. By the time I finished the quest Anchorite Truuen was back at the tomb again. I think he preys for a set amount of time and returns to the camp. I guess we'll just have to wait till he's done

Just did this last night. Was able to turn it in and do the escort quest....it was very easy to accomplish.

i have no idea why this is a level 58 quest and why people are having such a hard time with it. im a 56 rogue and just stealthed in, walked to the top, killed a level 57 guy, non elite, 2 casters level 56 spawned, sapped one, killed one, killed the other, looted the box and stealthed away. it was the easiest quest ive done so far in the plaguelands. maybe its just different for everyone. good luck

Coords correct...at top of tower.

Note: I attempted as 57 Feral Druid..The quest was yellow in my quest log and did not say group, but there was a 63 Elite at top of tower guarding it when I went. Luckily 3 others ran into same problem so we were able to get it.

Didn't expect it, don't know if he is there all the time.

I completed this quest today as a lvl 55 Frost Mage. Easy if you have a water element and a few netherweave bandages.

Just polly one of the casters, get your element to attack the other and you attack one yourself. Just take few bandages, and a couple of pots just incase =D

Even did the next quest in the series solo, Frost Mage Ftw =D

Sap is your friend. As is Cheap Shot, Blind, and (for Combat rogues) Blade Flurry for the top of the tower.

Solo at 59 with no Outland weapons and some Scholo drops. DPS in the 250 range. They got mowed down like summer hay.

Admittedly, it will be more than just a bit hairy for anyone else. Bring a friend.

I made my way to Hearthglen. I went to the right side avoiding the mobs. I went to the tower and worked my way up to the top. After dying a few times, I finally made it to the top. I could have rezzed at the top but wanted the exp. When I clicked on the chest it was locked! Am I in the right tower or did I miss something somewhere?

The 54,23 coordinates are good. I soloed this as a level 62 warrior, died on the way up the tower, and one more time after reclaiming my body at the top. third time was a charm, i killed the remaining mobs, opened the chest, got the mark and died on the way out. But who cares, i got the item and rezzed at the cemetery.

The draenei NPC for this quest was standing at Chillwind Camp in WPL this thursday morning.
He was removed during the morning hours tho. I still have the quest ^^ Too bad I can't return it :(

Its in the tower just outside the town. There are five guys at the top, 3 mages, all around lvl 57. Finished at lvl 56, no problem

y'all keep talking about hearthglen gates and towers. Only thing i see is few buildings and graveyards..no towers near the Uther's tomb. And only see a Crypt next to the Uther's tomb...no towers.

I cannot believe that this quest is not group. I highly recommend not trying to do it yourself when it's yellow. Wayyyy too many casters and they all aggro at once, plus the respawn rate is ridiculous.

i can see this quest being sorta hard for most classes at the lvl just cuz of the amount of mobs in the tower and leading up to it. For us sub spec rogues tho, or evn any rogue w/ some points in sub, its pretty easy. you can stealth past basically everything up to the top of the tower. when u get up there, sap the casater closest to the stairs, then shadowstep and ambush or w/e a second one, u shud hav him down in like 4-5 secs. take out the third, then rest a few secs before killin the first guy u sapped.

THIS QUEST HAS BEEN REMOVED.
Yesterday 12th Dec 06 I was told twice by GM that there was nothing wrong with this Q. HOWEVER I kept pushing the GM to look into it and later another GM came back to me and finally conceded that this quest has been removed!

I abandoned this quest. I tried and tried for 4 lvls to do it, and died everytime.
I tried to sap the 60 elite but all the damn casters come at you at one time which makes it impossible. -.-

Lv59 Hunter, full Beast spec, well-equipped, and I died 3 times doing this quest.

I would highly recommend doing the Unfinished Business chain at the same time, since the second leg of the chain involves killing Cavalier Durgen, who is found in the same tower as the Mark of the Lightbringer.

It's not impossible to solo this, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you've got an excellent method of crowd control. Spawn rates are high, in the 3-4 minute range, and there's a lot of casters packed into very small areas. Aggro wrong, and you'll pull the entire tower down on yourself.

Hunters, Rogues, Frost Mages, and maybe Warlocks, should be able to solo this. Everyone else, I'd recommend getting at least a 3-man group together.

The cosmos coordinates of 54, 23 are correct on the location of this tower. If you do not have it, it is the tower that is drawn on your map to the SE of Hearthglen. You can't miss it. Getting to the top isn't a problem. However, at the top, there are 3 mages, 56-58(regular mobs). As a 58 hunter i solo'd this by sending in my pet first and doing some CC (crowd control) on the other mages. THe mark is in a brown box at the top called a *Holy Coffer*. I'll post the exp reward when i turn it in.

I don't get what you're all whining about.. I soloed this with level 56 priest. Died once. By pulling carefully I only got two at a time.

Or more precisely, as a level 57 Gnomagineer. Arcane spec, which turned out to help.

I tried to get into the tower and to the top using a Gnomish Cloaking Device and failed completely. It failed in the bottom room and I caught aggression from the Mages there. But with Mana Shield I did manage to make it to the top, where Cavalier Durgen finally killed me.

If you're under level 60 or so, do not rez at the top of the tower. The two mages up there are linked, and their hate radius is such that there is no safe place up there. Instead, res on the stairs a little distance down, just past the ledge where it turns from a spiral to a straight staircase.

So the third attempt was the good one for me. I waited until Durgen was walking downstairs and out of sight, rezzed, and put up my usual buffs. Mage Armor of course was my armor buff of choice; I put up Mana Shield and called my Gnomish Battle Chicken. Time for pie.

At the top I had to wait to see which one the chicken would go for, but when it did, I Polymorphed the other one. By that time aggro was completely in the hands, or beak, of the chicken. I let them slug it out and got the Mark from the chest. Being full of mana and having a shield up at this point, I took out the non-sheep Mage and then turned to the one that had just come out of his Polymorph.The first thing I did was Slow him, one of the things I love about that talent tree. Chicken died halfway through, but with Counterspell I won the day. (I hadn't needed it for the first one, because by the time I attacked he had used up his mana.)

Easy it's not. In fact I suppose the fist time you go there you should just strip and corpserun, unless you're a Rogue or Druid and can stealth past the lower tower guards. This quest shows the strengths, and weaknesses, of the various classes: Rogues will have little or no trouble (assuming they know how to Sap), Warriors and Paldins will have a hard time, and the rest of us are in the middle. The key, really, is taking one of the Mages out of commission while you work on the other, and also staying out of the way of Durgen.

Did as a 57 Shadow Priest, pulled the mobs around the base, and killed them. there are 2 casters in the bottom room of a tower u can pull outside. Killed them. There was a 63 Elite Rare spawn with 7k HP in the same room. I ran in and feared him. Ran to the top of the tower. Waited for my fear to come off CD while I aggroed the three mobs at the top, and feared them. Shielded and grabbed the Mark out of the box then jumped off the tower. Ran away. Done.

He was never removed he just got bugged, he is standing in uther's tomb doing noting. When he is supposed to respawn back in chillwind camp. So my guess is this when someone did the escort quest to uther's tome that comes after this something went wrong in the quest/npc script. I paged a GM but didnt get a answer before i logged.

Edit: talked to a GM now and the NPC have been reseted he is standing in Chillwind again and the quest works fine, did it this morning!

1: The mobs respawn way to fast.
2: I have died everytime I when up the tower.
3: When I finnaly got the &*!@ers on top of the tower
A 63 rare elite spawned at the tower... and died.

Conclusion
Another #$%^ed up quest by blizzard.

The hardest part is the top of the tower becasue u can't MC if they are out of line of sight and it's hard to kill three mages alone.But lucky me i still had the Mechanical Yeti.

In the short time that I have been on Azeroth I have studied many of its heroes. Of them all, Uther Lightbringer stands above the rest. A hero for the ages, in the end Uther was betrayed by his most promising pupil, Arthas.

In his honor, I would like to return something he lost to his nearby tomb. It is rumored that the Scarlet Crusade is keeping one of his holy relics atop their guard tower near the gates of Hearthglen.

Please, <class>, go and retrieve it.
