Save this for last, when you have just about nothing to spend your gold on. It isn't much of an improvement, but eventually there'll be nothing else to spend your $ on.

It seems blizzard planned for a lot of people fighting through the blue dragonkin cave in order to do the onyxia quests, which would mean a lot of dead dragons and some schematics on the AH. Unfortunately most people suicide run through the cave since it's a pain in the ass.

What makes this worse is that if you decide to solo farm the schematic only the mageweavers drop it and they share the spawn points with 3 other possible dragons who wont drop the schematic, so you have to kill them too to force the mageweavers to spawn.

Now I'm not saying dont try to farm this, just be aware you may be spending a LONG time trying to get this if indeed you are able to solo 55+ elites at all. Took me (a frost specced mage) 37 mageweaver kills and probably twice that number of tank dragonkin kills. Could take you less kills or infinite so be prepared.

This is the best (non-raid) loot I have even been present for. Group of 2, one engineer (me) and one alchemist. Needless to say, we each got what we wanted.

Ive been farming for this schematic for a couple of hours a day for the past week, ive killed 162 mageweavers, 85 Scalebanes and 94 Wyrmkins. Still no schematic, however i did get a mature blue dragon sinew to drop which has more than eased my mood. :)

Well i finally got it on my 345th mageweaver kill after killing a further 218 scalebanes and 231 wyrmkins. Thank god is all i can say.

2 days of farming and I got this one the 2nd day along with a buddy of mine Chuto, both got what we needed I got my dragon he got his pot, exactly the same drop as frg_ce's post, so I'm guessing farming inside the back of teh cave is best, same mobs and all. ggkthanks :D u need this made on Skywall msg Thenebrosity-Skywall. :D

After farming mostly solo 220 of the elite dragons, 96 were actually mageweavers, i finally got it, but of the AH bid i never thought i would win for 25g bid/ 50g BO, because i have seen them bought out for 50 gold before, and also expected alot of competition but after waking up there they were in the mail, perhaps other people couldn't be bothered fighting for the recipie.

I found the recipe after all in all 12 h of fighting, searching for die dragon sinew. Must have been about 700 dragonkills, all 3 types together.

Still no dragon sinew, so i might be able to trade the recipe for it ;-)

A bit irretating with all the other blueprints for other professions you find when looking for this. So far I've found 2 Pattern: Robe of Winter Night, 3 Recipe: Greater Arcane Resitance Potion (or something like that)and one LW Pattern: Runed Belt I.. maby an Alchemist would find a buch schematics when looking for that recipe? xD

Over the past couple weeks I've been farming these dragonkin occasionally, and killed a total of 99 Mageweavers so far in an attempt to get the Arcanite Dragonling schematic.

Last night a gnome mage came along and asked me what I was doing, so I told him. So he started farming them (elsewhere, not getting in my way).

In half an hour he found the Robe of Winter Night pattern, the Greater Arcane Protection Potion recipe, and a Mature Blue Dragon Sinew. None of which have ever dropped for me.

Some people have all the luck! ><

I have farmed in Mazthoril the whole day not all the time but most of the time and I have found
Pattern: Robe of Winter Night x2
Recipe: Greater Arcane Protection Potion
Schematic: Arcanite Dragonling
Mature Blue Dragon Sinew
And alot or green stuff and vendor trash. So I was lucky like woho, now I can afford epic mount :)

Confirmed drop from 57 elite Cobalt Mageweaver. Dropped on the 4th kill. Thought perhaps I could get something else to drop since I was so lucky with this...spent next hour or so trying and got absolutely nothing.

Do you need to have Engineering to pick this up, like the pattern for the robes? Im farming with my lvl 70 for my other char. and don't want to waste time if I cant pick it up.

After killing mageweavers for about 3 days, this is what we found before the schematic finally dropped

21 Recipe: Greater Arcane Protection Potion
22 Pattern: Robe of Winter Night
2 Mature Blue Dragon Sinew

Not to mention countless other green items and two blue 2h swords.

farming this recipe truly was a grind (8 days of winterspring), but with the mats changed for the repairbot 74a to 16 thorium instead of 12, and being able to swiftly kill the 56-58 elite mobs that drop from 10-25 silver a pop made this a worthwhile effort.

the cave spawns 2 thorium veins, 1 of which is usually a rich thorium vein. right now stacks of thorium sell for 20g a stack on Tortheldrin.

axe of the deep woods also dropped while farming, sold it for 90g which sold immediately on AH, and even a mature blue dragon sinew which starts the epic lvl 60 hunter quiver quest - being a lvl 60 epic, i just gave it to a friend Lutegan in the Enclave.

Both robe and schematic drop for every1 reagardles of profession, or skill level (at least while farming solo). Looted the schematic in my first farming run, on the way out...

Okay, I've spent a full month farming for this thing.

I've vendored 113 Patterns of the Robe of Neverwinter Nights
217 recipes for that arcane protection potion.
21 Mature Sinews
I even got a world drop shield (Don't remember the name for it though).

Not one schematic :'(

My guild master's friend finds it on the AH for 40g... wtf!

Sit back and let me spout off my tale of woe. I have just received this schematic not 2 minutes ago and my character is now in Everlook getting ripped.

As far as Thottbot knows, there is ONE mob that drops this schematic. If you can fight that mob, you can go into the Outland (via port to Shat if necessary). If you can go to Outland, anything these guys drop is absolute junk and a waste of tiem.

Not only that, but they are just horrid xp and drops for what they are worth.

Take a hard look at the numbers of this Schematic. It has a .3% chance of dropping. Not a 3% chance or 1 in 33, but a 1 in 333. And as stated above, these guys share the same spawn points with 3 other types of units. That means you can go over that ridge and not see one, at which point you have to kill them and wait for a respawn. IF they all spawn equally, you're looking at killing around 999 or so elite units.

I'd say it took me about 15 hours solid. I was the only person out here. I'd occassionally see someone and get worried I was going to have to share these meager spawns, but they would quickly leave when they saw these ELITE units who hit hard as hell, don't drop !@#$.

Really. My mouseover was telling me the Warriors have a 6% chance of dropping a Roasted Quail. Woot! And that's its most likely drop.

So the Warriors have about 8200 health. The other guys have somewhere in 7K. The mages have, er, 6k? The Warriors (the ones with all the armor) shield bash stun you and disarm. The other warriors hamstring you for like 15 seconds. The mages have frost shield and icebolt. All hit for 300-500 and crit for 6-700.

I fought outside on the ravine to the south. There are 3 there. Then one on the ridge. Around the corner by the road is one on each side. Then on the north side of the road I would kill 2. Back and forth and back and forth.

I killed so many of them I had a pattern by heart. I am a Warlock and that's probably one of the best classes out here. Why? Cuz they are elites outside. They can be kited. They can be feared. This is one of the only areas I know of left where it's safe to fear (as long as you go in the right order and pull a little).

My Voidwalker couldn't tank them. Not by a longshot. Hell, my Infernals couldn't tank them, and they can tank 4 even-con mobs at the same time. So I would just drop all my DoTs on the target. Run to where I had to be. When he aggro'd me, I would turn off pet auto taunt (save his mana) and fear mob when it got close. I'd have to reapply my DoTs. Most fights I figure took about 30 seconds, as I would also use Mithril Dragonlings and Battle Chickens to help and I could tell via their timers. I'd also snare with Curse of Exhaustion and just run them up the road while refreshing my DoTs (insta-cast so I don't have to stop or even face them).

Fighting outside you're also going to run into Spellmaw the dragon. He's about the same lvl as those mobs but vastly more powerful. 17K health. There's a few guys on the Spellmaw page who say they used some karate moves and killed him "easy" at lvl . Maybe. But at lvl 57 I used a lvl 72 Mithril Dragonling, 72 Battle Chicken, 57 Holiday Greench (R.I.P.), my Voidwalker, and me. He killed the void/chicken/dragonling and was about halfway done with me when he finally died. But maybe I just suck. If you fight outside, you WILL see Spellllmaw. He exactly follows the pattern of all the outside spawns (barring a very few areas). He landed on my head more than once as I was kiting.

The little dragonlings that fly around are grouped in 3's. You will always fight 3. They a) cold breath snare b) mana tap for 1429 mana -- no, not 142, 1429 c) icebolt snare. They're heinous. I thought I was badass and sent an Infernal in to try and clear them out. Low yellow/green cons. He killed 1 out of 6 before dying. And that's the one I dotted up.

I was getting about 693 xp a kill on the dragons. Which is good per unit, but it's horrendous per time/mana involved.

I've got a backpack full of Recipe: Greater Arcane Protection Potion, which drop vastly more often than the schematic. In fact, to the local Yeti population, I'm known as Glocky mo Ja'kta. Which means, "guy with lots of crappy potion recipes." I also found a huge number of Pattern: Robe of Winter Night. Which are BoP and I'm not a tailor. So the Inn at Everlook actually uses those patterns as kindling to get their fire going because me (and others, I'm sure) sell them so often. 50 silver.

This must all sound doom and doom, and most of it is. But I did get it. I just have no idea why they made it so insanely difficult to get one schematic, which from most info isn't exactly game-crushing. I mean I love my pets, I'm a warlock afterall, but it's not like a huge factor in my power.

And no, the schematic isn't for sale. I inscribed it right there in the snow in case the universe exploded or something, at least I'd be floating around in space with it firmly in my head.

I just got this recipe to drop after about 4-6hrs of farming. I found that the easiest way to get it is go to where the entrance of the cave is, facing the cave entrance, look to the right. There should be about 2-3 mobs standing there, you can kill these 3, let them respawn and they usally spawn into the Cobalt Mageweavers that drop the pattern(Bad thing is that the spawn points can spawn all four types of dragons found in the area.) After finding this spot and farming it, i got it in about 1hr, most of the time waiting for the respawn. If anyone on Malfurion wants one, contact me...Corruptedone, and ill be happy to make ya one!

Went one night with my fellow warlock and priest to grind this for me. Since there aren't that many mageweavers around this can take very long time. However after an hour the "Pattern: Robe of Winter Night" drops, priest got very happy since she was tailor and the pattern is BoP, and only 3-4 mobs later my schematic dropped. At this point we were in very good mood and decided to grind "The Eye of Shadow". Around 20 mobs later the epic dropped. Was a very good night!

I went Wintersping to farm for this and got it on my very 1st kill lol. I am never lucky in game, xcept this time :-). Dunno what to do now. Use it or sell for like 200g.

I was bored so went off to Winterspirng to farm yetis. On the way to the camp, I came across some elite dragonkins and decided to have a go...I'm a level 60 warrior. The first one I killed dropped the scehematic. No use to me as I am a miner/blacksmith.

I was actually looking for the Arcane Pots and sinew for my mate, turns out this drops instead 5 dragons in!

Took me about 5 or so hours to get it. In the process I got 11 robe of winter night patterns and 12 greater arcane protection potions recipes...

I have to agree about the lower drop rate, or so it seems. I've killed over 250 of the Mageweavers (57 and 58) without success. Like others I've got about 8 Robe of Winter Night patterns (worth all of 50s) and 8 greater Arcane Protection Potions recipes. Also picked up the blue Shell Launcher Shotgun. The most frustrating part to me is you have to kill the Scalebanes and Wyrmkins which seem to be much more common. I'll stick with it for a while.

Was doing that annoying quest of having to go in and turn in that lil blue dragonwelp scale that ya get from BRS. On like the 2nd or 3rd mageweave i bag, this drops.

Wow, nifty, only thing is my alt's engineering is like 20. So off to the AH it goes :P

Had been farming the Mageweavers for apprx 10 hours spanning about a week to get Robe of Winter Night pattern. Then suddenly this baby drops and half an hour later my, robe pattern! :D

well, i am over 1800 total kills in this cave...450 of the mageweavers alone, and still no drop. /sigh

i have gotten 4 of the sinews, 27 greater arcane prot recipes, 21 of the BoP tailoring recipes...and a dozen or so random recipes, plus countless greens. the dragonling schematic doesnt exist i dont think.

ill update the total kills when i finally do get one to drop.
