I'm not sure if it's just me, but I've killed a whole LOT of these eels so far and the drop rate is terrible. Here's hoping they'll up that sometime soon.

The drop rate is terrible for L60 Umbrafen Eel on the other hand L61 drop rate is almost 50%

drink a potion of water breath and focus on grinding eels. It normally take half a hour to finish this quest.

Doesnt make any differance as to the lvl. killed 30+ both levels now and only got 2 drops

this quest isn't worth it. i've killed maybe over 20 and i haven't gotten a singel eal filet. this drop rate is just horrendous

Did this quest today. Eels at Umbrafen lake drop it at rate around 35% or so. Took less that 25 kill to get all 8 filets.

The low drop rate is the reason they give you three hours worth of underwater breathing potions.

But, I only spent an hour of that doing this quest and about 20 mins of that must have just been spent running to and from the sure so I could drink water and mana up. (why dont they have a passive +50mp5 or something when you actually submerged in water, and are unable to drink it?)

Tedious Tedious Tedious. Wouldn't recommend this quest unless your very lucky or enjoy playing games that make you P-ss-d off and depressed.

Why dont blizzard just make it 100% drop rate and ask you to collect 60 or something... at least you know how much of a grind it's going to be then.

The 0.02% calculation seems about right. I've killed near 30 of these things, and only have gotten 2 Filets to drop.

Well I think the drop rate has to do with their counter attack for some reason... i've been getting much better drop rates, by DOT'ing from a far, and channel casting (only 2 or so counter's per mob more mana though.....), and getting about 50% drops.

drop rate is relatively low. You can't trust the drop rates thott gives you as they are skewed by those not on the quest, but i wouldn't argue with 25-30%. Seems about right (1 in every 4 or 5 kills)

yeah, i killed 10 of them 0 drops. It just isn't worth it. Abandon !

seemed to get a better drop rate in the southern part of the lake, was getting 1 for every 10 kills in the north and 1 for every 3 or 4 kill in the south. try it if you have trouble but maybe its just my luck

The south of the lake is really a better place.

I was killing ~50 on the north and got 4 items, then i slowly swim to the southern part and the drop rate was growing. well i didnt first realize i was in the south til i went back up to the surface (and btw wasnt the water breathing potions included in this quest? i somehow had a potion with 3 charges, each for 1h water breathing)

So: GO SOUTH!

i finally got 1 it took me like 5 kills 2 get it so idk what drop rate that is im bad at math but its low i know that no 45 percent drop rate 45 my foot

Gotta agree with everyone else. I tried for hours, actually used two of the 3 charges of the water breathing potions for a grand total of 2 filets all over the lake. Then I went to the south and in the first 5 kills I had 5 more.
South is definatley the place to go.

in that lake whole area is full with them.
no matter what spot, you can get needed items in like 7 mins. with my dr00d is easy to farm them. and good spot to farm items for CC rep!

the drop rate is worse then bad idd sometimes kill 3 in a row sometimes kill up to 10 and none dropped

South giving more drops is a lie its the same everywhere just these damn fillets have a really really really low drop rate but the mobs r easy to kill and u can take them 2-2. i would kill them 4-4 as a 62 hunter. Also in umbrafen lake there are tons of quest u can complete while doing this one + the eels have a great drop rate of unidentified plant objects (finished that q before the eels lol) that are quest items that drop from whole zangarmarsh.

I had maybe about a 1 in 4 or 5 drop rate, as expected. Too bad you can't tame fish, cause these would be awesome :P

Don't bother with the quest unless you have some way to breath underwater (pots, abilities, etc)

6 Eel filets
3g worth of trash
2g reward
900xp per kill (rested at lvl 63) = 18000 xp for the 20 kills
9800xp quest reward
plus rep with darkspear, org, silvermoon, tb and uc

all in 15 mins.

seems a bit silly to abandon the quest.

Bleh. I dunno if this is a new issue, but they're buggy as hell for me. I'd say at least a quarter of them evade bug, sometimes with only 25% health left. =/

I jumped in the lake on the north side and killed 20 on my way south before I finally got 1 in the middle of the lake. I'd recommend starting in the middle.

Eel Filet is a quest related item - you need to collect 8 pieces to complete No More Mushrooms! (Horde) or Umbrafen Eel Filets (Ally) quest.

Follow the southwest direction until you reach Umbrafen lake. You could spot sparking eels from afar, they are not only deep in the water.
Eels hit not much hard but have electric buff up that deals some aoe damage, so rather don't pull multiple eels to avoid unnecessary graveyard runs.
