Go to Umbrafen Lake, southeast portion of the zone, and use the water breathing potion that the quest giver gives you. It has 3 charges, each charge lasting an hour each, so you don't have to worry about running out.

Kill the Umbrafen Eels, they have a really low drop rate, I'd say maybe 10-20%.

The eels do have a low drop rate, and have a very fast shock attack. If you have a water breathing potion, use it! You won't have enough time to escape the eels when they will keep shocking you. Bring a party of 2.

Hunters! Use aspect of the wild! It will seriously save you a lot of headache against the eels. I never thought I would use it ever before this. If your pet has any spare training points, spend them in nature resist (mine had 15 and it was a good investment)

So...If you DONT do the quest, doesn't that mean you get unlimited underwater 1hr breathing potions? Use them up, drop the quest, retake the quest, another 3 hours of underwater breathing...

If you're a rogue, I suggest you bring a friend, because this takes alot of time since you have to eat quite often. They have a "thorns" thingie like the thornfang ravagers / venomspitters, and it hits for 20 each time you hit them, which is many times when you're a rogue. Very lame quest as melee.

Wow, not sure about you guys, but in 24 mins (thx to underwater item) I got 8 fillets, 7 plant parts and 12 hydra scales. Thats 2 full quests and 70% of another .. thats pretty good to me, all in umbrafen lake

Killed 10-15 of these, randomly 60's and 61's then i looked here and saw that about 61's having a better drop rate, i can only confirm that, after that i got 8 fillet's on 12 mobs

Bring your fishing pole. The little Island at 73, 64 (which is surrounded by both the eels and the hydras you need for quests here) also tends to have floatsams. Happy trunk opening! Also there's some schools of Feltails there. Definetely worth fishing while waiting for the monsters to reset.

the eels can be found in umbrafen lake. drop rate is poor, like20%. to make things easier, use the underwater breathing potion the quest give supplied. a good place to kill the eels is around the small island at the northern part of umbrafen lake. there are no nagas on this island, so you can eat & drink and continue killing non-stop.

consider this quest as a side quest. do not focus on this. you can kill the eels while you're doing these quests all around Umbrafen Lake. believe me, it saves time...

terrible drop rate, it took about 15 kills before i got my first one. took forever.

Not a great drop rate, but I got around 20-25% from the eels right next to the graveyard at Cenarion Refuge. The lake isn't very deep there, so I didn't even use any of the water breathing potions. The drop rate for Thick Hydra Scales was 100% there, too.

Don't waste mana or ammo by leaving the lake, as the eels will Evade.

if you lose the potion, you can obtain it by dropping and picking up the quest again, however, be careful as the meat will be gone if you abandon the quest.

I have skipped this quest the last few times I have leveled a character. The first three times, I found the drop rate too low to be worth the reward. If it was all on land, where getting to each mob is quick, it might be worth the grind. But swimming from mob to mob is too slow. There are far better ways to make 2g and 9800 XP in Outlands in a fraction of the time.

You will want to turn on quest tracking (shift-left click on quest in q log), as with most quest this seems to help a little with the drop rate.

completed in the area of 75,66 where there is a deeper section of the lake and I found about 7 or 8 of them there to kill and since the respawn was fast I didn't leave until I was finished.

Umbrafen Eels are the Figh in the water.

The don't hit much instead only Natue dmg.
It involes underwater fighting, so wath the Breath meter, lol.

TARGET ONLY level 61 Umbrafen Eels.
The level 60 has much less drop rate then the level 61.

ROFLMAO, I killed 9 Umbrafen Eel's and i got 8 Eel Filet'ts... So the droprate is 1/1 99% ca on me... Maybe blizz have fized the "bug"

easy quest got all 8 i bout 30 minutes. the trick is to not let the eel shock you so much. be sure to bring plenty of food, and water if neccessary. i would say go to 73, 64 and hunt in the water south of the island. drop is pretty good. also picked up the unyielding helm of stamina, sold for 2g 53s 24c not to mention the reward for the quest of 2g so i came out on top with 4g 53s and 24c.

It's not bugged, but it has a very low drop rate, got 2 after few kills :S

Out of 16 level 61 eels killed, I had 7 filets drop. Right before the last, I had a level 60 aggro me, the only one I had to kill, and he dropped one. Go figure, eh?

I went to all the co'ords everyone said below, I killed level 61s instead of 60s, I tried not to let them shock me so much, and nothing changed. 30 kills later, not one fillet.

Kill the lvl 61 eels, they have the highest drop rate... This might sound stupid but try it ... i had a 90% drop rate on those and like 10% on 60-62 eels

To complete this quest you need to gather 8 Eel Filets from Umbrafen Eels and bring them to Magasha at Swamprat Post.

Follow the southwest direction until you reach Umbrafen lake. You could spot sparking eels from afar, they are not only deep in the water.
Eels hit not much hard but have electric buff up that deals some aoe damage, so rather don't pull multiple eels to avoid unnecessary graveyard runs.
