Then use the key to open the Lianthe's Strongbox found at (48, 72) to the left of Grand Commander Ruusk.

With a flying mount, you are able to access the box without killing anything. It's under a veil type hut with no guards surrounding it. Be careful for the 72 elite standing to the boxes right, though.

This quest is pretty difficult, the dragonhawks breath fire and if you get two on you it really sucks. There's also the level 70 BE walkin around on chickens which after you kill, the chicken alone respawns. Not to mention if you're a shaman the chickens attack your totems if you drop any. Once you pop the key, which takes forever, i suggest just running like a madman to the box, dying once, ressing behind it and then peacing out.

Theres no need to kill yourself to get to the box if you're careful. Just take it (relatively) slow, pull only one mob at a time, and make sure to clear everything nearby, since these guys aggro from quite a distance. Also, if you hug the left side of the upper teir area, the elites shouldn't be a problem.

Took about 12 or so kills to get it, but the first kill that I made inside the walls of the camp dropped it. If I were a betting man, I'd say it only drops off the mobs inside the actual camp, not the ones out by the road.

Also, I did this as a 68 mage... if you get the key, you can walk around behind some of the tents to the big staircase then invis run to behind the lockbox and snag the rod without fighting your way up the stairs and all.

It's a big box in the hut you can't miss it.

Combine with The Shadowmoon Shuffle very handy if you gotta kill a lot.

This quest was a little slow but not too bad. I came up the left side of the road and thru the little wall. I stayed along the left the whole time and would pull from across. When I got to the stairs I got the key from the guy in the house right across. I had to fight one 70/bird combo on the stairs along with the one guard on the left. Dont forget the chest is then on the left side when you come up the stairs not behind the elites ;) took @ 30 mins, got 8 signets too

I had the same experience as the poster who guessed that only mobs inside the gates of the compound will drop the key. I killed about 12 mobs outside, no key; 4th mob inside the gates dropped it.

Also, to confirm the observation about a flying mount: if you have one, just fly up to the pavilion on the left, drop down at the entrance, go in and open the chest. You shouldn't aggro any mobs outside in doing so.

I got 8 sunfury signets from the total of about 16 blood elves killed, so I would agree, the drop rate here seems good...just not most risk-free place I've done signet grinding!

Got the key outside the compound on the 7th or 8th bloodelf I killed. It was the first 70th level one though, perhaps that mattered? Still haven't gotten to the strongbox as a solo 67 hunter. Too much aggro, too many mobs, no flying mount.

Dropped from a Eclipsion Centurion on the very first kill. If you have a flying mount, land at 47, 72 and kill one of the centurions and open behind the box so you don't have a chance of aggroing. Easy 11g.

actually i hated this area--
bird guys- when they fall u have to kill bird which gives you nothing after.
most of them can full heal at low hp
mages cast this thing that you take loads of damage unless you move- i dont like moving im a caster :(
and the spellbreaker off warriors makes yours casts back to rank 2-3- its very irritating mob type.

The rod is located in a veiled patio roughly around 47,71

Easiest way to reach this other than using a flying mount is to go around the outside to the back, worst mob to fight this way is the Eclipsian Hawkstriders and maybe an occaisional Blood Elf. Do a little hop next to the wall the abuts the mountain at the back and you can sneak all the way to within 30 yards of the box. Kill a couple mobs there so your not walked over on, then grab the rod and go back the way you came. Solo'd this quest in less than five minutes this way

If you dont have the key yet, you could kill the elves along the path that leads from the main road (I got my key there in the 3 or 4 I killed) Or just kill the ones that a nearby the rod itself. Just watch out for the elite that standing in the vicinity.

The key dropped off one of the blood elves along the road...I think it was my 6th kill maybe....the hard part was inside camp where everything aggros easily....if you can make it to the steps my suggestion is hugging the wall on the left side...once you get up the steps immediately go all the way to the back on the left hugging the hills....i did that and nothing aggro'd til i got near the chest...then only one...killed it...got the rod...another suggestion....make sure you can hearth once you get the rod...unless you just wanna farm signets....;)

This quest was extremely painful for me as a 68 afflic lock.....everything constantly aggroed and those damn dragonehawks wasted my voidwalker constantly....and those damn BE's on chickens where a huge problem too since you have to kill there mount after you kill the BE...Also I got the key on the first kill :D

Dig this: the top of the hovel containing the strongbox is open. If you have a flyer you can drive straight to the coords and drop right through the roof onto the box without drawing a single critter.

I killed about 30 people when i decided to look here, when I saw that some people had gotten it quite fast from killing those close to chest, so I went up to chest and it dropped on 2nd kill. Might be a coincidence but try it.

Got it after 25 kills. Maybe 30. Don't be alarmed, they all drop it and it isn't always quick.

I got it really far away from the chest too. I started killing at the chest and just drove away from it until the key dropped. But I was happy to drop signets and tomes. :P

Chest that contains rod is at 47.71 The key to open it is a random drop, you should be able to work your way back to where the chest is and by the time you get there the key should drop.

-You can mount inside the tent where the box is. Since none of the blood elves have a daze attack, apparently, you can just hop on your epic and then beat it on out of there without much problem.

respawn rate is incredible on the BEs... so watch out where you fight them, can pull too many... and pating warriors on Mounts hit hard

Very easy quest, probably easier with a flying mount, you can drop around 48,72 directly behind the building. I ran with my mount all the way up there and you can go far enough behind the building the mobs will lose aggro. Once there very easy to pull single mobs and get the key, got mine on first kill. Chest is unprotected so just loot and mount up and run out

It must be easy for all of you lvl70's with your flying mounts, i found this very difficult as a lvl67 warrior. Attracting aggro was a problem, i pulled on centurian, but another came along, an archmage came just as I had sorted the centurians, took health pot, killed the bloodwarder and another seemed to respawn just where the first one was. Died, came back, killed more up until steps, pulled one on the steps successfully, but during fighting the other one on the steps, 2 bloodwarders attacked. Died again, by that time my armor was suffering, but when i got back, the previous mobs had respawned. I managed to hearthstone, as there were to many mobs to take care of with low armor and no pots left. I will be going for it again, but it is very difficult to solo as a 67. BTW I got the key when I killed one of the mobs on the steps.

the chest is south inside the Eclipse village to see it on your map it's the south tent of 3.I picked my path of less resist's but it isn't easy there are alot of add mobs that can join in the fight.I died 1 time got the key near the main road first mob.

Well eclipse point is the place to kill Bloodelves for the key. They have low droprate, but I got it on the 20th kill. Try not to die, becouse you'll have to run from Altar of Shatar, or Shadowmoon village, which are redicilously far...

As you are facing the 3 elites, its the hut to the left. There is only one chest visable in the middle. Try to die close to this chest then res. to the back of the hut, you are now able to loot the chest right after you reserect with no baddies to bother you. 48,71 is hut with chest.

I think there is not just a 'good' or 'bad' droprate for this. It's luck. I had to kill 25 before I got the key, guess the others who got it on first or second kill were just lucky.

After getting the key on this quest: The Shadowmoon Shuffle did this one at the same time as this quest: What Illidan Wants, Illidan Gets... talking to Ruusk, I just waltzed over to the chest (it's just to the left of Ruusk a little bit) and opened it while backed up as far as I could into the little pavilion building. The opening breaks the disguise, but no aggro and ported out. Could use hearthstone too or fight out of course, no flight yet at 69. :P

It wasn't a problem to get into eclipse point, I pulled mobs on the road so that I had only one aggro at time. At the entrance to point, I took the most-left entrance. While running inside I aggroed a centurion, and pulled him to a corner I was sure that no mob would ever come. After killing the centurion, I got aggroed by a dragonhawk and killed him too. I pulled the two centurions at the tents near the stairs that lead to grand commander Ruusk. Killed both easily, then waited the archmage to walk away and walked up the stairs. Aggroed a centurion while running up the stairs, but I just kept running to the tent with the chest and charged to a bloodwarden. Killed both (retaliation ftw) and left only just a little health. I had got the key from one of the mobs on the road , and started opening the chest when suddenly, a lvl 70 warlock attacks. Luckily I got to open the chest and took the rod just before I died. Came back, resed, and rode away.

I killed several Elves without success, checked here, worked near chest mob of 3 attacked me, killed and key dropped. Flew in on chest and got rod. Rogues, Druids, and 70s with flying mount won't have much trouble. The rest this will be a bit rough unless you bring a friend or two.

Obtain Lianthe's Key from any of the blood elves at Eclipse Point and use it to open Lianthe's Strongbox and claim the Rod of Lianthe. Return the rod to Parshah in the Magma Fields.

The totem alone is not strong enough to counteract the sinister magics of the dark conclave.

We can combine it with other objects of power, forming a staff to focus the energies. We cannot rescue my brethren from the depths of their depravity, but we can stop them.

One of the items I need for the staff is the Rod of Lianthe, held by the blood elves at Eclipse Point to the southeast. It is kept in a pavilion on the top tier of the ruins and will be heavily guarded. Use caution, <name>.
