Does anyone know if these are usable in combat? I would love to be able to bubble hearth every 15 minutes.

I wonder if there is a casting time on this like other ports or your hearthstone... I would assume yes. I would also assume that you can recall in combat like you can hearth in combat or throw up a portal in combat.

Seems like as is, these will make trips to the AH and back to Shatt/Dalaran quite easy where as currently I have to plan all my trips carefully... it's NOT easy to get back to Outlands once you are stuck back on Azeroth... With Northrend, it'll be easier to get back with a zep/ship and FP back to town, but still requires plenty of travel time.

These also sound good for death knights because they will have occasions when they need to pop over to EPL to do some runecrafting and chances are you will not want to fly to the dark portal to get back to Outlands as you level. I'm guessing that we will see lots of inscribing dks so this is QUITE relevant! ^-^

Shamans have Astral Recall as it is. Why would they ever worry about hearthstone cooldown anyways?

A couple of questions answered from testing I have done.

This cannot be used in combat (No Bubble - Recall).

Even with the maxlevel requirement, this makes Inscription a very nice alt profession, at least the ones you level just for levelling, without plans of having another profession before reaching a high level.

Just skill to 35 and farm/buy some lowlevel herbs, create some stacks of this, then forget about your profession until you reach level 50 :P

In 8962, it changed to "Results are unpredictable beyond level 40." Does anyone know what the unpredictability might entail? Not transporting, random effect like the gnomish teleporter, Dumping your dwarf character in the middle of Orgrimmar? :)

Reminds me of the initial ideas for the Engi transporters, they scaled them back to more goofy effects than wrong destinations, although the Area 52 one will rarely place you on top of one of the floating rocks hundreds of feet in the air.

Very nice to see some fun still being had to counter all this serious business going on regarding raid specs and such.

has anyone noticed that this teleports you to a random place but says you're in another?
here's an example...
my 70 druid used this item and ended up in tanaris (Gadgetzan arena)
however as i ran towards where i was headed, un'goro i noticed that Firegut ogres (The ones from Burning steppes, were all around me.

Now i'm in ungoro and there are Blackrock Warlocks and Blackrock Slayers around me...

Is this what the LOST debuff does?

bugged me massively, first i was cool with it, i was in swamp of sorrows falling, wen i went to port back to org, there was no floor and i fell, wen i released spirit i fell again, in EPL, and again in hinterlands,and again, i closed WoW, opened again, was at durotar GY and didnt fall, so dont use and port to org lol

I love this item. I just used it, teleported me to UC. At first I was fine with it, but when I wanted to take the zeppelin to STV to gather herbs, no zeppelin arrived. Apparently I was in some sort of other dimension where no people or whatever were. No elevators either, so I fell and died in the elevator shaft. Released, ended up standing on the water as a ghost on Lordemare Lake in Silverpine Forest, with my corpse being in Stonetalon Mountains.

I'm loving this.

When I used this I got teleported to thunder bluff while my hearthstone was set in shattrath city. The odd thing is that there was no-one in thunder bluff. Not even a single NPC and it said I was in the twisting nether. I logged out and logged back in only to find myself falling down and dying in the twisting nether south of hellfire peninsula.

I've been testing this a lot, and I'm a 70 tauren druid.

So far I've gotten:

Stonard: 6 times (outside of the inn)

Tarren mill: 5 times (in the middle of the field in it)

Thunder Bluff: 6 times (at the edge of it)

Swamp of Sorrows: (teleported at the very top of it and fell and lost fall damage): 2 time

Undercity: 2 times. (at the entrance)

Gadgetzan: 3 times (in the arena)

The Crossroads: 2 times (on top of a hill)

Booty Bay: 2 time (on the edge of it, in an area where you can see cannons under you and ships going by, seems like it would be impossible to get to this spot without the scroll of recall)

That's all I've gotten so far, testing whenever i can.

LOST debuffs:
- Lion's Pride Inn basement (Elwynn Forest)
- Stranglethorn Vale coast
- Steelgrill Depot
- Hinterlands, Aerie Peak (ramp)
- Auberdine, Darkshore (On hill)
- Tanaris Desert - Gadgetzan

I believe that this teleports anywhere level 40-45 zones and lowbie zones.

This item still rocks.

I just made them, at level 45, and used it just before the rolling restart. Put me on the ground in Stonard outside the inn. So you don't get any breaks for being ALMOST the right level, either. :p

As an Alliance 70 I've ended up in:
Goldshire (basement of Lion's Pride Inn)
Kharanos (Steelgrill's Depot)
Gadgetzan (inside the cage)
Booty Bay (an otherwise inaccessible rampart at the south end).

For example, if you're an Orc, can you be transported into Stormwind if over level 40?

Has anybody else noticed that these seem to change to wherever you have your hearthstone set? I've made some, but hadn't used any. I had my hearthstone set to Stormwind, but changed it to Lakeshire, and noticed that the scrolls now say they will return me to Lakeshire.

I have also ended up in one of the goblin cities...Gadgetgan I think?

It should be noted: these items will simply return you to where you have your hearthstone set (unless you're over lvl. 40 and get the "Lost" effect, of course). So if you make a bunch of them then change your hearth, the scrolls all change to your new hearth location as well.
Bottom line: you can't make various scrolls for different cities and use them like a mage's portals. The only real benefit is that they have a seperate cooldown from your hearthstone.

If you're looking for an item that will teleport you to a specific place, these all have various useful effects and don't share cooldown or location with your hearthstone:

Wormhole Generator, Dimensional RippersArea 52/Everlook (Engineers only)

These can actually be very helpful even above 40. I was on my 58 DK going around training herbalism and inscription. I needed to go to hillsbrad around 130, so i use one hoping it'd get me closer(i was in the barrens) it put me in tarren mill. Next, i needed to go to Booty Bay around 170, another possible location to be teleported to. The next scroll got me there. I dont know if its luck or what, but if your hearth is nowhere near where u need to go and it is a possible location that this sends you to, it doesnt hurt to try. You may just get lucky like i did

This is weird as hell. I just recently hit 40 on my druid and i had a lot of these left over so i was usin them to get rid of them. When i use this iI always end up where i need to go lol. Not my hearth location but where i had quests and everything. Don't know if anyone else is experiencing this but you know w/e.

Easily one of my favorite things about being a scribe. I've been leveling a shammy alt as of late & trying to level inscription along with the leveling process. But this has actually come in handy after level 40. I had a ton of ZF quests I had to turn in thanks to people from the RDF but had yet to run to Tanaris. I used a scroll & I was lucky enough to be ported to Gadgetzan. And, just a few minutes ago, I got a quest to go to Southshore but was on the other continent. Used the scroll because I was about to log anyway & ended up in Aerie Peak. :D

Very nice homage to Ultima Online with this one and it was even funnier when I saw that you needed Moonglow Ink.. Recall scrolls were your best friend and you couldn't get enough of them...didn't matter what class you were playing, you had to get your magic skills up to the point that you could use those scrolls and not have it fizzle.

Apparently this doesn't always fail above level 40. It disappointed me today by teleporting me about ten feet to the orgrimmar inn. No Lost! debuff or anything.

edit: scratch that, after this happened the second time in a row I noticed it had used up one of my scroll of recall IIs. I think the macro I had just made was casting II even though it was showing I's tooltip

I found this lower level version somewhat useful on my 77 Tauren druid as I was working on festival bonfires and Explorer title.

I would basically get a free trip to other continents.

However, it should be noted that it is not really random. There seem to be only a few designated places that you can go:

Crossroads
Gadgetzan
Thunder Bluff
Misty Reed Strand/Swamp of Sorrows
Tarren Mill
Others?

In Misty Reed I always materialized in the air and ended up dead on the ground. If you have a Parachute Cloak (Engineering) you can certainly use that to prevent yourself from dying.

Using this at lvl 41, not realizing I had passed its normal requirements, I winded up in the air in Swamp of Sorrows east side, by the beach..

Thought I would just hit water and be fine, but I landed on the ground just touching some water, and instant dying..

My guess, is that I died because I had under 50% hp left..

Otherwise it would seem kind of mean by Blizzard :P

So in summary: if you're leveling (especially leveling an alt that you can just fund outright), it can be well worth it to keep a mere 25 points of Inscription as a profession just for this item alone.

Up to 40, these are each (cheap!) 20-minute pseudo-hearthstones that do not share your hearth's CD. If used well, it'll net you hours of pointless-walking-around time on the way to 40, even if your guild is of a high enough level to speed up hearth CDs. The only downsides to the scroll compared to the hearth are that you can't use them in combat and you must craft/store them.
Past level 40 these are more valuable yet (especially for non-mages), as they can drop you in all kinds of different places, many of which may be useful/time-saving for you (and only a few of which may kill you outright). You can pop one before hearthing to see if it saves you time overall--preserving the hearth CD in the process. Or if you're after some locale in particular and you have other things you can be doing on a different character/in real life, just use a scroll, log if you don't like the destination, and rinse/repeat in 20+ minutes.

This seems like a pretty good use of one of your character's 2 profession slots pre-endgame. The gathering professions can all be leveled more efficiently at later levels, especially now that you can fly just about everywhere. Of the rest of the professions, few are as fun/useful/cost-effective to level alongside your character as those easy 25 points in Inscription (an exception is Engineering, which wins out in the "fun" dimension by comparison).

ok so besides the fun factor of being sent somewhere unpredictable this seems to be a total waste. i thought i could make one for lor'danel than went to darnasus changed hearthstone location to there thinking i might be able to teleport to multiple locations and my previous scroll changed locations to darnasus also.... so this is just a wasted slot.... until i get over LvL 40 and get bored with where i am and want someplace unpredictable to go to. if anyone knows any real use for them I'd like to hear it and since you need to be an inscriber to use them there's no point in selling or trading or stashing them in your guild bank (argh must....control....rage lol)

The usefulness of this items is that there is no cool down of an hour. Some times I am out and about and my bags are full and I want to get back to the inn quickly. If you have already used your stone, you need to wait. With this scroll, there is no cool down, just like portal. Just don't use it if you are above 40.

everytime I changed my binding to a new Inn, the scrolls I carried changed too - so not sure what they are good for.(other than for fun as above)

If you are level 70 don't bother with these. So far I've used them twice out of boredom, the 1st sent me about 100 feet above the beach in Swamp of Sorrows. The second time I was sent to Thunderbluff (my home is Shatt).

Yes there is a cooldown(30 min same as stone), but it is not shared with the Stone.

My druid is level 43. So far, other than the 40 feet above Swamp of Sorrows, it got her the fp to Stonard, where she landed just outside it. I've also ended up at XRoads and also in TB, and also in the Ruins of Lordaeron. I just used it now, and ended up in the cage at Gadgetzan. I'm wondering just where else I may end up. Anyone have any idea?

There is a very small chance that the malfunction from Scroll of Recall above level 40 can kill you. I lost a permadeath character to being spawned in the air above Swamp of Sorrows and dying of fall damage, after reading on WoWWiki that it was safe!
